What do you like best about Ansys SpaceClaim?

ANSYS SpaceClaim are very intuitive, easy to learn (with videos on Youtube). Modelling ships in SpaceClaim are quick and compliant with AWQA (hydrodynamic package) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Ansys SpaceClaim?

It is not like Solidwork where you build layers one by one, therefore it's not very structural but by the same token, very dynamic. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Ansys SpaceClaim:

It is a very good software and quick to learn, I'm glad that I decided to use it. It combines a feeling of the freedom of drawing in Rhino3D but gives in some rules to ensure that it works well with other structural/hydrodynamic analysis. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Ansys SpaceClaim solving and how is that benefiting you?

I've used the software for two different tasks: creating 3D models, and preparing meshes for vessels (ships) before performing hydrodynamic analysis. SpaceClaim is good for the first task, and excellent in the second, much better than other software that I've used in the past. Creating meshing for a ship is normally very difficult jobs due to different curves joining with odd angles. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Ansys SpaceClaim?

The tools and inputs are absolutely terrible. Why would you combine extrude, revolve and loft into one command named pull? And then not provide any tangible options to define the direction and degree? Everything in the fact that the interface is designed to point and click, just let me define directions and parameters in an options window without trying to define a direction in 3D space using a 2D display. - Intuitive tools

- Can handle lots of Data Formats

- Can create named selections to be used in Mechanical Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Ansys SpaceClaim?

- difficult to work with large files.

- problems with irregular geometries

- scripting is still basic

- no ability to create and export coordinate systems to Mechanical (or maybe I dont know how to do it). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
