"Easy, faster way to to build CFD models"

What do you like best about Ansys SpaceClaim?

Creating solid bodies, subtracting them to create required final geometry model makes the things easy. Also the surface repair options like stitching, filling similar holes reduces repeating work. Also I love the way we can create 2D sketches and make 3D models from them. Very useful for cfd applications where inner volume can be extracted in comparatively easier way. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Ansys SpaceClaim?

Some times the stitching option doesn't work to merge to surfaces with small gaps. But over the time I learned some tricks to do it otherwise. Also some of the surface repair options don't work as per my expectations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Extremely easy and quick to learn and use"

What do you like best about Ansys SpaceClaim?

The process to make geometry is so quick. With just few click you can make changes to you model. Simply your models from solid to shell or to beam. It so user friendly. The best part is rectifying the geometries is it just really something unique which it offers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Ansys SpaceClaim?

Things like the load time of Space claim is more, like when you are trying to open it. I guess that could be due to lot of things to be loaded due the hepty GUI. If that can be brought down. SCDM would be the all in one undoubtedly the best package. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Ansys SpaceClaim?

Its simplicity and lack of rules. You are not unnecessarily constrained Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Ansys SpaceClaim?

Its support and documentation is very lacking beyond the most basic level. Some direction on best practice would be good Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Very good CAD editor for working with complex curved faces and preparing models for simulation"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Ansys SpaceClaim?

Spaceclaim seems to be particularly good at editing models with complex curved surfaces that other CAD packages do not handle that well. The tools for repairing geometry are also very good, and help with preparing a model for simulation using other ANSYS software linked through workbench Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Ansys SpaceClaim?

Due to the way it works with geometry, spaceclaim can often take a while to load the result of a command, and it can be frustrating when this comes back with an error after waiting for a length of time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Some recommendations that make spaceclaim more user friendly"
3/5
What do you like best about Ansys SpaceClaim?

Direct modelling, repair tool for bad CAD model, fluid volume extraction, Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Ansys SpaceClaim?

Assembly tools, measuring tool because it is not convenient for every user, projection tool during sketching, some more options should be provided for projecting features on sketch plane like option for projecting sectional features on one click.

It takes very long processing time when working with stl files.

It must have capabilities like design modeller that user can put name selections easily. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"One of the most user friendly 3D CAD"
5/5
What do you like best about Ansys SpaceClaim?

The best thing I like about SpaceClaim is that it allows modification directly in 3D view. This function is very convenient and saves the brain from converting 3D into 2D. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Ansys SpaceClaim?

Generally, it is user-friendly, nothing dislike. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Senior Engineer - QA (ACIS) who used SpaceClaim for reviewing/testing the underlying Kernel ACIS"
5/5
What do you like best about Ansys SpaceClaim?

User friendly and intuitive approach for starting any simple design from scratch. Super simple graphical user interfaces and geometry creation from ground up is cool. The 3D viewing capabilities of SpaceClaim are woth appreciating. With the tolerance of absolute resolution makes it also precise for critical parametric surfaces and B-splines, etc. The boolean functionalities are handled very well in the application. The feature of picking a geometry object and stretching it in either directions to create a protrusion effect on the geometry is one of the nicest things I have found in SpaceClaim. Spatial corp. owns the ACIS kernel which is infact a subsidiary of Dassault systemes and the functionality of Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Ansys SpaceClaim?

Some times I don't want to see the grid as default. This probably can be handled, I need to explore SpaceClaim more. The data exchange formats are in numerous formats however not all formats are supported I guess. STL and .obj however the more older formats that AutoCAD14 etc were creating are probably not supported no. The tool bar could be probably more user friendly or engaging compared to the standard CAD interfaces as is in the current CAD world. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"SpaceClaim Review by Swapnil Dubey"
4/5
What do you like best about Ansys SpaceClaim?

In my opinion SpaceClaim has the best User interface for any modelling software. All tools and function are easily accessible and it has the wide range of editing tools which is really great. The best feature of SpaceClaim was processes of creating models seamlessly by allowing users to retrieve and edit important files from other CAD applications. Users can prepare the files directly from the software’s interface. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Ansys SpaceClaim?

The only thing you won't like about SpaceClaim is that it has system comparability issues when using different platforms Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Ansys Spaceclaim direct modelling review"
4/5
What do you like best about Ansys SpaceClaim?

Ansys spaceclaim is very intuitive. Its a bit like using your smartphone - press something and it does what you ask. I love the fact I can push, pull and move my model directly without constraints. I can see my design in 3d real time and modify it as I see fit with no delays. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Ansys SpaceClaim?

I would like to see more details with any errors that occur. It currently just shows that a particular function cannot be done but doesn't explain why. This can be frustrating as a new user, as it leaves you scratching your head and making wild guesses as to what might be wrong. There is a tutorial section of the hell menu, but it would be nice to have more sheet metal help. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
