"I am a cfd analyst, have been using spaceclaim with ansys-fluent for about 9+ years on projects"
4/5
What do you like best about Ansys SpaceClaim?

The intuitive nature of spaceclaim (SCDM) and its GUI , the learning curve with SCDM is very fast mostly 4 operations - pull, move, fill & boolean operations can meet CAD simplification needs (for simulation model simplification) and , the ease with which certain CAD modification operations are performed which can be complex to learn in other CAD softwares , repairing geom features - stitching, missing faces are beneficial in case of complex geometries, the CNTRL+scroll feature to select background faces is very good. The ease of share-topology and named selections. Scripting is very powerful tool but very poor documentation on it is provided. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Ansys SpaceClaim?

Sharetopology does not always work as it should; a lot of manual work needs on the parts to be done in such cases. 'Interference' cannot fix interference between all parts at times - again, quite a lot of effort needs to be spent in such cases. The 'merge' by default option setting for pull, move etc is a blunder; it has to be changed to 'no merge' on every new installation. Spaceclaim has an easy-to-learn curve, limiting how much production 3D CAD parts can be simplified. No documentation on spaceclaim scripting. Creating relations between parameters is not possible Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"The pain reliver of modeling in analysis"
5/5
What do you like best about Ansys SpaceClaim?

SpaceClaim is probably the best software in analysis softwares when it comes to modelling. It provides a very user-friendly interface ad tool to finish your work as quickly as possible with great ease. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Ansys SpaceClaim?

There are very few problems with this software. If I have to point some things out, the makes can add a few more features like boolean functions. The software lags when heavy models are imported. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Spaceclaim The Right hand of Ansys"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Ansys SpaceClaim?

Ease of tool interaction.

Specifically good for Cleanup of the model used for FE simulations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Ansys SpaceClaim?

Not Like proper CAD tool. Because of the geometrical constraints

And also non parametric tool Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"SpaceClaim: good for pre-processing but not a general-purpose CAD replacement"
3/5
What do you like best about Ansys SpaceClaim?

The User Interface is clean and relatively easy to navigate. The feel is modern. And creating Named Selections is very easy. For importing various file types, SpaceClaim is fantastic. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Ansys SpaceClaim?

Navigation is not intuitive as you pursue more advanced editing commands. And constraining parametrics is not as straightforward as any competitive modern CAD system. For easy geometry creation SpaceClaim is adequate and only surpasses DesignModeler. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Spaceclaim - claiming 3D"
4/5
What do you like best about Ansys SpaceClaim?

The ease of use and possibility to forget about it for a month and then immediately getting back into the program. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Ansys SpaceClaim?

The cost of the software, otherwise no apparent dislikes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Good CAD Tool"
3.5/5
What do you like best about Ansys SpaceClaim?

Ansys SpaceClaim is a useful software for general purpose Computer Aided Design. What is great about it, is that Ansys optimizted it for integration among its other software like Fluent. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Ansys SpaceClaim?

Being a non-feature CAD software, Ansys SpaceClaim is not great for editing existing models. This means parametrizing a geomtery for optimization is not simple. This is a disadvantage for all similar tools using this approach. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"While working on Spaceclaim you can work with speed of your thinking."
4.5/5
What do you like best about Ansys SpaceClaim?

As fast you can think with same speed you can make quick changes. This is not possible with other CAD software. It's not history base , so you can delete reference planes or other entity after purpose gets served. You can record scripts of your model and with litle changes you can create new model within no time. It's very much user-friendly and you can open any type of CAD files in Spaceclaim. Also you can fix /repair surface models with imperfect surfaces. Repair tool is very powerfull you can correct edges, surfaces etc. You can remove all interferences in one click. You can create imprints with special tab given. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Ansys SpaceClaim?

In space claim with units system mm max fillet radius you can give is 0.1 mm. So if you have to give fillet radius less than 0.1mm you need to change unit system . Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"User friendly and easy to modify CAD changes for FEA purpose"
4/5
What do you like best about Ansys SpaceClaim?

The 3Dimensional changes which can be done on single go and not with much of initial input and pre directions.

Splitting the surfaces with respect to very easy access to dimensional nature.

Easier process to check the geomterical gaps, free edges Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Ansys SpaceClaim?

No hsitory of changes done to CAD model, cannot rechange or go back to previous changes with a list of all changes done on CAD, once saved and exited cannot know how the model is modified

Cannot identify the Geometry errors like minimal gap between two surfaces which would give issue for meshing because volume cannot be generated in that neglible gap Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Use SpaceClaim with python code"
4/5
What do you like best about Ansys SpaceClaim?

I used the SpaceClaim for 2D drawing. It was very beneficial and easy to use. Also, it is easier than Design Modular when you use python code for parametric study. It is much better and I was comfortable with it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Ansys SpaceClaim?

I think we need more tutorials for 3D systems. And I faced a problem with " how can I active the inflation layers with SpaceClaim". So, we need to solve these problems. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
