What do you like best about Ansys LS-DYNA?

It is very easy to create the files of explicit solutions because the ANSYS user interface is easy.

When defining contact cards for LS-DYNA, master and slave selections can be made very quickly.

For LS-DYNA, material cards are easily defined to geometries. According to the analysis type, the changes of the cards can be arranged from the table. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Ansys LS-DYNA?

Only tetra and hexa elements are used in explicit analysis of solid elements. Due to the complexity of the geometries, ANSYS LS-DYNA can sometimes create weld elements. Explicit is not suitable for solution type in weld elements. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Ansys LS-DYNA solving and how is that benefiting you?

I made all setup cases in ANSYS LS-DYNA to perform mine blast analysis. It shortened my total project duration by about 4 months. Therefore, the project was quite successful and ended early. What do you like best about Ansys LS-DYNA?

capabilities of dynamic simulations, calculation speed,failure tests, various types of simulations (impact simulations, penetration...), easier to use than other software for dynamics simulations, very good results output. postprocessing is easy to understand and results are easy to read. Sotfware can provide "real" results that can be compared to physical testing. Great material libary with many materials of various types and origins.Various contact tools and models for almost every industrial application.Wide element libary for all calculations Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Ansys LS-DYNA?

User interface, must be experienced in FEA to use solver properly, software could be more user friendly. I would suggest to master the FEA theory first and expand user knowledge of the various contacts and models before using LS-Dyna as the "black box" software because lack of knowledge in the field can easily mislead engineer in thinking that results are correct, but in reality mistakes can easily be made. Recommendations to others considering Ansys LS-DYNA:

User must have prior knowledge of the FEA and dynamical behaviour of materials to use software correctly but when basic knowledge is mastered software is really useful and can help engineers in various fields of engineering and simulation types. Composite dynamics simulations for strenght test simulations for Formula Student race car, penetration tests, fatigue analysis, dynamic load behaviour. User must have prior knowledge of the FEA and dynamical behaviour of materials to use software correctly but when basic knowledge is mastered software is really useful and can help engineers in various fields of engineering and simulation types.
