"Effortless to Use, Lightning-Fast Implementation and Integration"
5/5
What do you like best about Anaplan?

I would say the best about Anaplan is that it's easy to use and to learn. It's also really fast to implement new functionnalities, thanks this easiness and also the way of handling a project with the Agile methodology.

What is also good is the speed of the calculations with large data I would say, if the model has been well developed.

It's also pretty easy to integrate with other ERP or other systems thanks to native connectors and Anaplan Connect or APIs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Anaplan?

The fact that you can do pretty much everything in Anaplan can lead to bad developments, with no following from Anaplan team regarding what the partners are developing within clients ecosystem. I would like them to be more challenging on their partner and do reviews on their own of the models made, not only at the demand of the clients or the partner.

Customer support is pretty reactive but often misses the point when subjects are complicated. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Anaplan’s Connected Models Are a Game-Changer"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Anaplan?

The connected element - Anaplan's power comes from many models talking to one another in a way that Excel simply cannot compare to Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Anaplan?

The dashboarding could be improved - some back end UX features would be really quick wins to add in improvements Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Versatile and powerful planning platform with focus on innovation, connected planning and community"
5/5
What do you like best about Anaplan?

I like Anaplan's planning and modeling features, intelligent engine, user experience, extensibility and scalability. Anaplan connects people, data and plans like no other with their unified cloud platform. New features and functionalities are incorporated into the platform on a frequent basis which enhance the product's value proposition and usability significantly. Availability of pre-configured industry-standard apps for financial planning, supply chain and merchandising now enable faster value realization for customers and boost the product's go-to-market value proposition. What do you dislike about Anaplan?

Auditability of line items can be further enhanced by adding extra features like saved views references and filter references. Detailed error logging and scheduler accuracy can be improved in Cloudworks. Native support for allowing input/breakback and calculation logic in the same line item can be added to further boost platform adoption in Retail Planning use cases. Anaplan Data Orchestrator and Merchandising apps can benefit from improved product stability and performance to boost adoption and implementation scope for partners. "Versatility and ease of use is key"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Anaplan?

Anaplan allows the "business" to own the toold rather than IT. This allows areas like finance and sales to make changes and updates to the logic without having to wait for IT to make the changes. Plus, the changes are easy becasue the "logic" is behaves in the same way as other programs used by the business. Anaplan also allows the business to design the tool to cater to the specific needs of the business such as terminoly and allowing for unique processes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Anaplan?

There are quite a few ways to connect data to Anaplan, but not always a direct connection. However, Anaplan is constantly evolving as well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Highly Flexible, Steep Learning Curve"
5/5
What do you like best about Anaplan?

I like that Anaplan is a cloud-based hyper platform that is primarily used to connect enterprise-wide planning across finance, sales, HR, and supply chain. It solves the issue of disconnected planning by unifying finance and sales which I find really helpful. I appreciate the ability to align high-level strategic planning with detailed operational planning, which allows for flexible modeling users can utilize for a repository for master data and planning. I find balancing data with security to ensure scalability is beneficial. I also use it with ETL tools and BI tools, which works well for my needs. The initial setup was highly flexible, albeit with a high learning curve. I would definitely recommend Anaplan to a friend or colleague as I would rate it a 10 out of 10. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Anaplan?

I find issues with insufficient model design and poor maintenance of browser network. There's also a need to restart my machine and re-authenticate into Anaplan, which can be frustrating. Balancing data with security to ensure scalability also seems to be a challenge. Additionally, while Anaplan is highly flexible, there's a high learning curve. "Empowers Business Users with Flexible, User-Friendly Low-Code Platform"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Anaplan?

This is a low-code/no-code platform that empowers business users to take ownership of their applications, reducing dependence on IT and eliminating common bottlenecks. Its hyper-block technology supports real-time collaboration throughout the organization, helping to break down silos. The platform also gives you the flexibility to define your own models without being constrained by rigid structures or limitations. It's user friendly UX allows model builder to build highly customized UX with KPIs, Charts and Conditional formatted tables, hence improving overall user experience. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Anaplan?

The extra efforts in handling sparsity of the model; we need to spend significant efforts in building concatenated list to reduce sparsity of the model to gain better performance. Polaris seems to be an answer for that, however, the costs of the license would be higher.

The limitation in reporting, currently we are restricted to do slice and dice on the reporting dimensions included in the module. It would be nice if we could also include properties of the reporting dimensions to achieve something similar in BI tools.

The current solution on this would be exporting the data with the properties and build those kinds of reports in BI tools. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Flexibility and Power for Complex planning tasks."
4/5
What do you like best about Anaplan?

Anaplan is highly capable and can handle any task with impressive flexibility and power. It is also able to manage large amounts of data effectively. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Anaplan?

Anaplan is a very expensive tool, but it can be worthwhile if you develop a well-defined use case. Although Anaplan is capable of handling almost any task, it's important to consider whether a particular task truly needs to be done within Anaplan, or if it would be more cost-effective to handle it elsewhere. We should remember, that Anaplan is the planning tool at first. For example, raw data transformation might be better performed outside of Anaplan to save on performance / cost. "Smarter Forecasts, Stronger Decisions through Integrated Finance Planning"
4/5
What do you like best about Anaplan?

Anaplan is a cloud-based software platform primarily designed for Connected Planning, and it has now expanded its capabilities to include finance, sales, supply chain, retail, and workforce management. The platform enables users to conduct dynamic scenario analysis, variance analysis, and generate real-time reports within the application. As a low-code solution, Anaplan can be easily managed by business users after the initial implementation. Recently, Anaplan introduced Financial Close and Consolidation solutions, providing a more comprehensive financial offering. Additionally, the product features prebuilt applications that help organizations reduce implementation time by two to three weeks. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Anaplan?

Anaplan has consistently faced challenges due to its expensive licensing model and performance limitations when handling large datasets. The basic AI and Gen AI features are not only costly but also have a very limited user base, as their use cases are quite narrow. Achieving scalability with Anaplan comes at a significant expense. Additionally, its ad hoc analysis capabilities, especially in Excel, are much weaker compared to other EPM tools, which forces users to rely solely on the application. "Continual Advancement of FP&A Capabilities"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Anaplan?

Anaplan allows for an enterprise approach to planning and forecasting, allowing for collaboration while maintaining consistency in approach, calculation, and reporting. Anaplan models that allow for controlled access and user role-driven experiences, ensuring Apps can be built to expose the right data to the right users at the right time. The inbuilt Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) features allows for controlled release of model changes to end users and allows for segregation of development, testing and production usage.

As a SaaS offering there are continually new features being developed which support both the end user and model builder experiences. Anaplan is continually refining based on customer feedback to address key features to advance modeling capabilities and improve ease of use. In recent years the App/UX layer has advanced greatly, allowing for dynamic formatting/visualizations, more curated user interactions and less reliance on model builders to make structural changes to the model. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Anaplan?

Lack native multi-select functionality and conditional formatting in the App layer can be a bit clunky and require workarounds or supplemental model development. Model to model connections require integration with no ability to share data in real time thought advancements in functionality like Workflow added more options/capability to support end user driven activity. "Unmatched Scalability and Flexibility for All Your Planning Needs"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Anaplan?

Scalability and flexibility in planning is the cornerstone feature of this product. Errors associated with excel based planning can be eliminated and much more can be done with productivity improvements. The calculation engine Hyperblock is the foundation that powers this tool. The ability to customize for any type of planning be it sales, finance, supply chain, headcount etc helps in exploiting synergies of different orgs. In addition, the new features like combined grids, ADO etc will definitely make it a serious product in the market. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Anaplan?

More AI features are required for the increasingly competitive industry. The product roadmap is already filled with AI roadmap so it is just a matter of time. The tool is costly and the pricing definitely needs to be standardized and made transparent for all customers. Also, there should be focus to replace visualization tools like PowerBI by bringing in visual planning. This has been addressed with geo-mapping feature that is released recently but Anaplan should be bringing in and constantly improving the features like these. On the upsteam, the integration ability with other systems should be made easily. ADO is definitely a game-changer but it needs to be bi-directional. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
