"Analyzer is a very powerful BI tool"

What do you like best?

Analyzer allows you to apply your Excel skills into a powerful web-based analytics tool to create in depth insights across a large dataset. It is fantastic for your traditional power users, but not as appealing to a novice user. It has very good (not great) mobile capabilities and incredible flexibility for data management.

What do you dislike?

The visualization is not best in class. There are some new features that get Analyzer closer to par, but still short of modern UI designs on the market. For example, expanding columns by dragging the border doesn't exist, scrolling feels outdated (everything is contained in the pivot box), especially when you are used to sliding your finger to navigate down or sideways on a mobile device or touch screen laptop. Performance can be poor when using some of the advanced functionality or custom MDX queries against a large data set.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We leverage Analyzer with our customer base to solve problems throughout the retail sector, from inventory management, to promotion optimization, to accelerating new product launches. Building flexible templates with advanced filtering capabilities has been a big positive for our business.

"Use frequently to create and change reports for RSi customers"

What do you like best?

Intuitevely understandable design

Can build beautiful charts and graphs and gauges

Group table functionality allowing to pick store-item combinations

Can rename columns to reflect understandable metrics for particular users

MDX and formulas help to build much more on available metrics

Advanced filter is really helpful

Alerts and Sorting rules are available and help to prioritize issues

User guide from strategy companion has been recently available to me and it's much easier to sort out how things work having it

What do you dislike?

Can't process reports containing large data sets & MDX due to too long waiting time / crushing

Not available in Russian Language - stops some users from using

Always wishing responce time was faster on every move / action

MDX are really complex, still strugling to figure them out

Some times session expires unexpectedly and changes that i made to reports are lost. if there could be a warning or autosave - that would help a lot .

Recommendations to others considering the product:

User-friendly interface, nice charts and graphs to support your presentations with fact data

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I help customer solve their problems based on established RSi use cases - On-Shelf availability, distribution compliance, phantom stocks, new product launches, promo analysis, forecasting planning etc..

Other than that we have customers who use retailer portals for downloading the data. They enjoy Strategy Companion (RI in our case), they say it's much more comfortable, faster, easy to use then retailer portals (not mentioning customers who just get the data in csv....).

Response from Chris Bielecki of Analyzer

Hi Julia,

The Russian language pack is available in versions 2359 and 2360. You should be able to view in Russian. One of our product specialists can help you if you have any questions.

"Strategy Companion Analyzer"

What do you like best?

Dashboarding is incredibly easy...I've seen a lot of BI tools and they all try to do dashboarding but Strategy Companion makes it so easy, flexible, and quick to do.

Also, love :

1. Ad hoc analysis is powerful and simple to use

2. Easy to deliver reports / share reports once you have created them. In addition to the default web view you can export to Excel, Powerpoint, PDF

3. Security easily integrates with AD

What do you dislike?

There is not much to dislike here. It doesn't have all the calculations that Excel has, but its not supposed to be that kind of tool . For a web based tool operating within the constratins of a web browser, the responsiveness and large number of options is amazing.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

This the only premier BI Tool that allows you to design, and publish reports in the same web interface. All the other ones I have seen have to rely on a thick client to do the design..because it is tricky to make it happen well in a web environment. Strategy Companion has done it and done it well. This greatly simplifies the user experience.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

1. One version of the truth ...held in a central respository.. centrally secured and centrally defined

2. Delivering reports has been made easy...you can automated report / data delivery on a fixed schedule or by a trigger / data event

"End User and Analytic Consultant for other End Users"

What do you like best?

The flexibility and power of the tool is very impressive. After a very short learning curve the tool is nicely intuitive for basic and moderately advanced functions.

What do you dislike?

Little to no documentation or support for more advanced functionality. There is a lot of untapped potential just due to no one knowing how to properly accessing it.

Filtering and custom calculations are not always as straightforward as they seam leading to bad data pulls and misleading results.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Similar to products like Microsoft's Excel and Access there is a ton of power under the hood of this tool. The flexibility and customization is amazing and the functionality is limited only by your knowledge of the product. Unfortunately advanced knowledge will be limited to on hand experience as I have found limited training and supporting documentation.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Primary use has been with Supply Chain needs and Retail Execution

"Analyzer - successful SSAS cube web deployment"

What do you like best?

The Strategy Companion team took a very hands-on partnership approach to our implementation. They assisted with our rollout, complex security integration needs, and continued to reach out to assist our business users realize the full potential of the software.

What do you dislike?

There were user pains with the switch as the users were used to the old Excel interfaces. However, all problems were either resolved with training, or reported to the Analyzer team as minor enhancement requests.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Initially, I just wanted an integration tool to leverage an existing SSAS cube into a web-based front-end for ease of access and use - our old solution was just Excel front-end. It met this need fully and easily. The more we dug in, the more we realized this was a robust business intelligence solution. We have started to more fully utilize the tool's capabilities.

"Powerful program but a bit too complex for casual users."

What do you like best?

The tool is pretty flexible in it's ability to report and manipulate data, and has a wide range of visual options.

What do you dislike?

Functionality is not always intuitive, and many of our more casual users have a hard time getting started.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Generally, CPG companies use the product to solve for inventory and pricing opportunities in the retailer stores that sell their product. For ourselves, it is a software that we can provide to our CPG customers that offers powerful reporting functionality to solve these supply chain problems.

"Analyzer was exactly what we were looking for."

What do you like best?

The dashboards were easy to create. The product is well suited for our mdx cubes and didn't require a lot of reengineering. Year over year analysis is easy with the product. The security within Analyzer ties to Active Directory and is very flexible to accomplish whatever you want.

What do you dislike?

The mobile product is weak and needs some work which Strategy Companion claims to be releasing in the near future.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

if you already use mdx cubes, Analyzer is a perfect fit. We also converted from SQL 2000 to SQL 2014 and are very satisfied the cube processing times.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Our business is constantly comparing this month versus prior year's month and the same with year to date. We're looking for trends in the business cycle.

"Lacking some functionality"

What do you like best?

Easy drag and drop, easy to learn. I like the new features where you can select a list of measures as opposed to dragging and dropping each one. I like the filtering options.

What do you dislike?

Inability to create reusable custom measures and custom aggregates. Can only reference one "Action" defined in the cube and ignores parameters set there. Looks a little dated. A bit buggy. Seems like their QA is not very thorough. Definitely needs a better user manual geared towards advanced report designers. Slow to fix defects.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Dig deep before deciding on a product.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Analyzing data. Easier and quick report development.

"I really do enjoy working in and learning new things about analyzer all the time! "

What do you like best?

Group tables, multiview, report filters and gauges.

What do you dislike?

Not being able to apply 2 measures to a 2ndary Y axis in a chart. And not being able to create groupings using your choice of calendar instead of the 1 default one.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I am a trainer. I help our customers to be able to create reports / templates to help to recognize business issues.

"Great Employees & Software"

What do you like best?

How knowledgeable & helpful Al, Eric, Bill, & Michelle have been.

What do you dislike?

Nothing to dislike at this point. We purchased this software earlier this year and so far any issues or questions we have had were solved by just talking to someone from Strategy Companion.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

We were able to try it before we purchase it. If you're not sure it will work for you just get a trial version before you purchase it.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I've just been working on the backend of this software the problem solving & benefits are being discovered by others here at ClearOne.

"A powerful and intuitive end user tool for concept to report delivery"

What do you like best?

The tool empowers users to efficiently generate and share reporting models. The ability to develop a report library and quickly manipulate a perspective report to meet your specific need, makes the tool agile for quick analytics, driving daily operational decisions.

What do you dislike?

MDX adds power to the flexibility, but requires deeper technical knowledge to fully exploit.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Visibility. The ability to present business data in the proper perspective enables management to identify macro level business situations and drill down to detail level causes - driving business change.

- Easy of use

- Scalablility

- Fast system (granted there is a strong backend)

What do you dislike?

"Easy to use, easy to deploy"

What do you like best?

Its very easy to install. It has a very intuitive interface for developers and users. Creating and deploying a new report can be done in seconds. Really good at creating graphical reports especially interactive maps. Really quick to run. We didn't need any training on the product. The online training information is spot on, the support is great and the product does all of the things it claims to do very well.

What do you dislike?

The following is not really a dislike but something to be aware of. There is a limitation on report design as it is mainly based on pivot tables. However, resolving this would make the product more complex to use which would defeat the object.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Work out what you want to use analyser for. If you need a product that very quickly allows you to analyse and present information efficiently then this is the tool for you. This is not a business objects type tool that would allow to create highly complex and bespoke documents.
