"Quick Setup and Powerful Session Replay, Especially with AI Integration"
5/5
What do you like best about Amplitude Session Replay?

Implementation is quick and easy, and you're able to decide on what percentage of sessions are sampled to stay within contracted volumes without development effort.

Session Replay is best utilized with other reporting features, especially AI Agents. It's great to be able to click on a data point and view recorded sessions from users in that data set.

New features are being added frequently, like AI Summaries, so that I don't have to view each session in it's entirety for the one small part that was useful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Amplitude Session Replay?

On it's own it's not used to understand user behavior. It really is a tool that enriches other features in Amplitude, so it's value is only realized if you're already making use of the rest of the analytics product. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Promising Tool but Needs Better Event Filtering"
3/5
What do you like best about Amplitude Session Replay?

I appreciate how Amplitude Session Replay helps in troubleshooting specific issues during an A/B test by allowing us to jump into session replays to understand exactly where users are facing difficulties. This ability to visually see what occurs during user sessions is significantly more effective than simply reviewing event logs. This capability is crucial in identifying bugs that happen on a user's journey through our application, especially in scenarios where we notice significant drop-offs on specific pages, which we suspect might be due to the configuration of experiments. Therefore, having the ability to delve into session replays to attempt self-debugging offers a distinct advantage. I find the session replays themselves quite useful in these contexts, highlighting issues that might not be evident through traditional event tracking alone. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Amplitude Session Replay?

I don't like how the filter for events in Amplitude Session Replay functions. It doesn't work as effectively as anticipated. For instance, even when I set filters based on certain events or funnel progression, the session recordings do not accurately reflect these settings. Instead of showing recordings of users who experienced those specific events, it provides unrelated ones. This greatly limits my ability to analyze drop-offs effectively, as I can't watch session replays for users who dropped off during a specific event. The filtering logic needs to be improved to make these functions reliable and efficient. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Amanda Brush of Amplitude Session Replay

Hi Louis, Thank you so much for the thoughtful review! Your feedback means a lot to us here at Amplitude. We’re glad Session Replay helps you debug A/B tests faster. We’re sorry the event filtering experience hasn’t met your expectations.

A few quick tips: In Funnel Analysis, replays are currently available for conversions (not drop‑offs), which can make drop‑off investigations feel off if you’re expecting direct replay links there. Try using Microscope to create a cohort of users who dropped at a specific step, then open Session Replay and filter by that cohort/events to watch the right sessions. Also ensure at least one event per session includes the [Amplitude] Session Replay ID (matching session_id/device_id). If you use server‑side or third‑party instrumentation, add it via the Standalone SDK; otherwise replays may only surface via User Sessions/User Lookup.

We’d love to help tune your setup—https://support.amplitude.com/

"Great Tool for Understanding User Journeys, Needs More Customization"
4/5
What do you like best about Amplitude Session Replay?

I have been using Amplitude Session Replay for about a year and a half and find it very valuable, especially when sharing it with my customers to demonstrate its benefits. It is particularly effective in identifying errors in the user journey and analyzing specific use cases. For instance, I can track users' sign-in processes to determine if there were any issues encountered. Amplitude Session Replay serves as a crucial analytics tool that provides both quantitative and qualitative insights, allowing me to gather actionable data about user behavior. This dual insight capability helps me provide greater support to my customers. Additionally, the product's filtering options are incredibly useful, enabling me to easily summarize sessions and gain critical insights without needing to individually check each replay; this is further enhanced by the introduction of agents that streamline the process. The feedback from my technical team also indicates that the initial implementation of the product was smooth and straightforward. Overall, the product's ability to efficiently provide both detailed overviews and actionable insights makes it an indispensable tool for my workflow. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Amplitude Session Replay?

I find it challenging that Amplitude Session Replay does not allow mapping specific user journeys without involving a technical team. Customers have frequently shared their desire to do more than just set a sample rate, such as capturing sessions from users logged in or from specific journeys. This limitation adds complexity and prevents broader analysis without technical intervention. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Intuitive Tool, Excellent for User Insights"
5/5
What do you like best about Amplitude Session Replay?

I appreciate how Amplitude Session Replay makes it simple to understand how our users interact with our product, which significantly enhances our product development process by helping us prioritize our backlog effectively. The tool's simplicity is a highlight, especially since it was easy to set up with a developer's help, though I find the user interface and overall user experience to be exceptionally straightforward and crucial for ongoing ease of use. The events and clicks tracking features are invaluable, as they are instrumental in how we currently use the tool. Additionally, the decision to choose Amplitude Session Replay over other options like PostHog was largely influenced by its usability, and I am consistently inclined to repurchase it on a monthly basis due to its significant contribution to our analytics activities. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Amplitude Session Replay?

I find the setup challenging because, as a non-technical person, I needed a developer's assistance to simplify the process. It would be difficult for someone without technical expertise to manage the setup on their own. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Amplitude Session Replay?

I find it frustrating that Amplitude Session Replay sometimes records only 1-second replays, which are not useful for reviewing user sessions.
