What I like about Amazon SES is the cost—you pay for what you use. If you don’t use it, you don’t pay. Once you link it with an email sending or marketing app, the value is outstanding. Compared to services like Mailchimp, which can be very expensive, SES is far more economical. I have a client paying a little over $200 for fewer than 20,000–30,000 contacts on Mailchimp; SES paired with an email marketing app is essentially unbeatable on price.I think the delivery rate is good as well. One thing I truly dislike about Amazon SES is that because it’s embedded within so many other AWS services, it’s hard to navigate and figure out where everything lives—where to find credentials, which mailing server to use, and so on. You really need to be more technical to use it effectively. Other SMTP providers focus on the basics, so their navigation is much easier: you know where to find billing and what you’re being charged for.
