We used the Amazon Glacier solution as part of a client need, as we are a design software company but often times work with clients who are trying to solve a variety of technology problems while redesigning their company look and feel as well as the products. In this case, we were recently engaged with Nike who was looking to make a shift with their storage environment.

It's very easy to get data into glacier and then I feel very comfortable about it being safe. We use it as part of data life cycle for massive data that must be kept for compliance. We had a problem where we could not delete vaults/inventory that we did not need. Contacted customer support repeatedly, but with no help. Eventually they said we needed to purchase a support package. Worst of all, they kept charging us for the storage we did not want but could not get rid of.
