I have using the service, including many others, in my organization since I joined, and it has served many production use -cases quite efficiently. The best thing about Amazon RDS is it's combination of simplicity and power. Be the intuitive design on the console or the powerful CLI commands which were able to automate everything that I liked and wanted, this database is a great option for anyone looking either to migrate their on-premises databases, or choose a cloud database. The ability AWS provides regarding scaling to up or down sizes on -demans is very good, which not only helps to meet the live customer API calls, but also helps us to manage and reduce our cost. Even though we utilised the RDS for MySQL, MS SQL and PostGre SQL, the integration with other databases like MariaDB and more is quite appreciative, that enables us to work on projects for some customers using unconventional databases too. I also loved the ease of connecting it to an EC2 instances whole creating the database itself, and how AWS manages many things automatically. Also, the option of managing the database credentials using Systems Manager for safety and security purpose, and ensuring nothing goes leaked is a very amazing feature as well. **What do you dislike about Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS)?** I don't feel something too strong to dislike about Amazon RDS, but there are certain things where improvements can surely happen. One of them and what I feel, most important, is the proper integration of RDS databases to other identity providers like Microsoft Entra, Okta etc. If the credentials can totally be removed using this seamless integration, then it will truly complete even further use cases, and Excel on the security side better. Normally, setting up and maintaining a database takes a lot of time and effort. Here we need not to worry about things like seting up backend, installing required packages with CLI's. RDS takes care of all these tasks. RDS can resize it's databases as load comes in. RDS as one of the best security features. So here my data is also not sacrificed I cam say that RDS solves many problems in my day to day tasks. ### 43. In this way, we can focus on the development, rather than on the infrastructure. This saves us a lot of time and does not bind us to a specific DBA. What's more, through Multi-AZ deployments, high availability is already there, out-of-the-box, which reduces the likelihood of downtimes, and so easy to set up read replicas for performance optimization. The assortment of supported engines for databases, including MySQL, PostgreSQL, and Oracle, among many others, also allows us to be flexible depending on the needs of the project. All in all, RDS strikes a great balance in convenience and reliability **What do you dislike about Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS)?** One thing that I dislike about Amazon RDS is the lack of control it gives in respect to low-level database configurations, which may be restrictive in advanced customization or fine-tuning. On top of that, the costs grow very fast while your workloads are expanding, especially with Multi-AZ deployments, read replicas, and larger instance sizes. This convenience might come at a cost: for high-traffic or write-heavy applications, the pricing structure could become difficult to manage, and you must have actively monitored and optimized your usage to avoid unexpected expenses. High availability because of Multi-AZ means we don't have much downtime, which is very important for our apps. Previously, I was using on-prem server to host my MySQL database and managing the storage and traffic was a huge concern for me. By offloading patches and infrastructure management, I am now more focused on other things. I personally like the read-replicas and their storage autoscaling the best features. I can easily integrate my RDS with tens of AWS services securely without any cost. I don't have to daily check on its status and I can just look at my Email if something goes wrong with the RDS. I can easily spin up a copy of database for staging environment from a snapshot. I did get stuck in implementing audit logs but the customer support was really good in helping me out. It is very easy to use and implement. I use it daily. **What do you dislike about Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS)?** I only dislike one feature of RDS but that's my opinion. I want to ssh inside the RDS instance to check some things out. For example, I know I can delete and view logs from RDS console but to open and close logs one by one takes a lot of time while if it was terminal, it would be really fast. **What problems is Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS) solving and how is that benefiting you?** I can save costs by offloading all duties on DBA (Database Administrator) to AWS while I just have to tweak a few things to automatically solve the problems if they do ever occur in the future.
