Designing a simple dashboard is pretty easy. If you just want to create some tables and graphs with filters (especially if you have one tab) it's really easy to do! Oh and the mapping features are pretty easy to use. Overall, amazing! **What do you dislike about Amazon QuickSight?** Advance functionality in dashboard is pretty limited. There is equivalent to dax, but in comparison it's much more limited. The error message it gives you sometimes looks like SQL syntax and reference nested case statements which makes me think the function it has are converted to some sort of simple SQL functions behind the scenes. We don't need to do many advanced calculations in our datasets but even then I have run into things that just can't be done. **What problems is Amazon QuickSight solving and how is that benefiting you?** There is no real "data model" in the dashboards like there is in PowerBl. Under the hood, I'd think of the way a dashboard is structured as like a giant pivot table. Generally it's one (or multiple) giant tables that don't have any kind of joins between them. In some instances, this will probably force you to make bigger datasets with lots of repeating information that you might break into one fact and multiple dimension tables in PowerBl. Here you will just fully inner join the data and create one big dataset. You CAN have multiple data sets within one dashboard and you can set up filters that work across those data sets, if you have columns with the same data type and the exact same column name. However, the two datasets don't really interact with each other. It's just like having two tables/graphs of different datasets on the same visual page. I'm mainly using it to call customer payment information (it's in millions) and with quick sight, it makes my life so much easier compared to powerBI or Tableau. ### 4. Maybe that cud be due to indexing on the AWS server? About dashboard building, I think it is the most seemless experience than other tools out there. Elegant asthetic and intuitive manipulation. Today Quicksight is way more matured like other leading BI tools in the market. I’m using Quicksight as it supports reading data from disparate data source like structured & semi-structured , spreadsheets with both on cloud & on-premises. It’s serverless & autoscaling with data governance features. I’m using it to query JSON data in S3 buckets via Athena & Glue data catalogue tables. Quicksight is sleek & very easy to integrate with other AWS services & tools available on AWS marketplace. Quicksight is very intuitive and I highly recommended for reporting. **What do you dislike about Amazon QuickSight?** I have not come across any features which Quicksight lacks than other leading BI tools. We have calculated fields to get the data in whatever way we need. We can directly import the data from various data sources. Visuals are drag and drop and get insights from them easily. We can't compare aggregated fields with non-aggregated fields. Quicksight Q is smart at generating responses as per expectations and is moderately workable, since its still under development sometimes the output is not recieved, however it is trainable and allows the user to enhance Q's vocabulary. Terms like "region" can be replaced with other synonyms such as "country". This is highly useful when the dataset is not modifiable, the column names can be fed to Q as an information to get quicker response. In addition to that query writing while creating a graph becomes convenient when Q itself is helping you by generating syntactically correct queries. These queries are infact further modifiable. Above all, the tool is cheaper compared to its counterparts however, additional features, which are complementary, can be subscribed to for a price above the usual plan.
