I find Amazon OpenSearch Service very effective for centralized log management and search analytics. It helps us by aggregating application logs, infrastructure metrics, and operational events into a centralized platform, allowing teams to quickly search, analyze, and troubleshoot issues, significantly reducing debugging time. The usability of Amazon OpenSearch Service improves our team's operational efficiency by centralizing logs, monitoring, and read and search capabilities into a single platform, making it easy to search and filter issues through dashboards and queries. It enhances collaboration among different teams, such as developers and support engineers, as they work from the same operational data. The dashboarding and visualization feature also makes operational metrics easier to understand in real time for nontechnical stakeholders. Moreover, Amazon OpenSearch Service offers better integration with our AWS environment, improved scalability for cloud-native workloads, and lower operational costs for large-scale log storage compared to our previous solution. Cost can also increase significantly if indexing and retention policies are not properly handled. Index management and cluster optimization can require expertise, especially for high volume logging environments. I use Amazon OpenSearch Service to centralize log management, which improves our troubleshooting speed and operational efficiency. OpenSearch Dashboards are also a highlight, as they make it easy to visualize logs and gain actionable insights quickly. We've been using AWS OpenSearch Service for the last 5 years and it has proved to be very reliable. It has a very high availability and we don't need to worry about any infrastructure management. AWS also provides a great support whenever we need and they keep updating it frequently. I can see that they're backing the development with a big team. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about Amazon OpenSearch Service? The only problem is the vendor lock-in, which means that we can't use it on the same cloud that we have a contract. They're also a smaller team compared to Elastic and there's a risk that Amazon will stop investing in it as it's not their core business. Backwards compatible with elastic search and supports live tailing and dashboards. Since moving to the aws solution we've not had to change the underlying instance types and maintaining them. It would be nice if they could manage the instances we use to host logstash giving the user an end point to send the logs and allowing us to maintain the config of logstash. Some live ui editors would be good here too. Taking in logs from cloudwatch would be nicer if you could set a filter before sending it into opensearch. After using Amazon OpenSearch Service for a short time love that it offers ease of use, scalability, high availability, and automated management, allowing developers such as myself to focus on building search and analytics solutions without the hassle of infrastructure management.Also integration into the AWS ecosystem and strong security measures which is very important to me as I work a lot with real user data, Amazon OpenSearch Service provides a convenient and secure way to leverage the power of OpenSearch for data processing and analysis. A lot of time cost analysis has to be done to reduce the expenditure. It is pretty easy to set up and works out of the box. We use it for multiple purposes, and the best part is it requires zero ops, and we can just configure it from the console and start using it.
