The best thing about OpenSearch is that it is open source. In addition to that, OpenSearch has promised to backport bug fixes to all affected versions enabling the consumers of OpenSearch to take full control of when they want to upgrade their software to the newer releases. This was one functionality missing from Elastic's managed service. One limitation of this product is that if you create an OpenSearch cluster in a VPC, you won't be able to create indices on the cluster. This is a known limitation from Amazon OpenSearch. Amazon elasticsearch was previously known as Amazon OpenSearch Service. It is the best alternative to Apache Solr, which was a kind of standard for the automation of common administrative tasks like backups, instance monitoring, and software patching. However, the OpenSearch Service changed the game and raised it to a new level. The best features for me were Advanced Security, Reporting Schedule, Index Management, and Synchronous Search, all of which relieved me of a lot of headaches.
