Amazon FSx provides a family of fully managed file systems optimized for different enterprise workloads, including FSx for Windows File Server, FSx for NetApp ONTAP, FSx for Lustre, and FSx for OpenZFS. I like that each option is purpose-built for a specific use case while providing consistent AWS management, security, backups, encryption, monitoring, and scaling. Provisioning storage is straightforward, and native integration with EC2, EKS, ECS, WorkSpaces, and enterprise applications simplifies deployment. What do you dislike about Amazon FSx? Choosing the appropriate FSx variant requires understanding workload characteristics, protocols, and performance requirements. What problems is Amazon FSx solving and how is that benefiting you? Amazon FSx simplified deploying enterprise file storage across a variety of application workloads without managing storage infrastructure. Example: Windows applications used FSx for Windows File Server, AI workloads leveraged FSx for Lustre, enterprise NAS workloads migrated to FSx for NetApp ONTAP, and development environments adopted FSx for OpenZFS. Migrating on-premise application to cloud is efficient, rather than re-architecting and testing application for Cloud. Flexible storage management- With Amazon FSx for NetApp ONTAP, we manged to build DR copies instantly. Write-once-read-many (WORM) protection - we mirrored read-only copies for legacy backup data using native filesystem. Simplify building and testing applications using OpenZFS instant data snapshots and data cloning By leveraging Amazon FSx for Windows File Server to store my data, and an FSx File Gateway to deliver high-performance data access, I’m eliminating NAS administration work, allowing me to focus on other, higher value endeavors.It’s also important to understand how a file system architecture fits into a bigger IT strategy. Makes perfect sense for cloud first customer. - other support tools to mange and monitor file activity for security operation . tools will grow aggressivly to meet security,compliance requiremnt. Although the pricing is sometimes a little steep compared to the use case - There is no light version or easy version. If you compare it to other cloud storage solutions which are improving for a lower price, it's sometimes a hard sell to say, "This is what you need, however, it's also going to cost you way more than the alternatives." You can say, "We can build you something custom that's going to cost you less with more headache." For customers adopting the cloud, that high price is sometimes hard."
