Amazon ElastiCache significantly improves application performance by providing fully managed in-memory caching with support for Redis OSS, Valkey, and Memcached. I particularly like automatic failover, Multi-AZ deployments, read replicas, cluster mode, snapshots, and seamless scaling, which remove much of the operational burden associated with self-managed cache clusters. The service delivers extremely low-latency access for frequently used application data and integrates naturally with EC2, Lambda, ECS, EKS, API Gateway, and modern microservices. Performance improvements are immediately noticeable for read-heavy applications, often reducing database load dramatically while improving end-user experience. Example: Product catalog data, user sessions, authentication tokens, and API responses were cached in Redis, reducing database queries by more than half while lowering application response times from several hundred milliseconds to well under 100 milliseconds during peak traffic. What I like most about Amazon ElastiCache is its extremely low-latency performance. Scaling large Redis clusters isn’t always seamless; it can require planning for downtime or doing careful rebalancing, especially when you’re dealing with stateful workloads. AWS ElastiCache is easy to implement with irrepctive redis and Memcached, sign in to AWS and spin the server as per the application requirement, Any time server can be upscaled and downscaled based on the requirement, and can create highly available clusters with multiple nodes, to manage the application traffic very efficiently, Creating the credential is too easy that we can create a group and create multiple users and assign with different roles. With the AWS Eco system, we can connect our ElastiCache server at any time from anywhere using an EC2 machine, while attaching top Security configuration. AWS ElastiCache provides a frequent snapshot facility for any event that happens so we can revert the changes—hassle-free version upgrade. I have integrated my app with dynamo dB and elasticache with redis caching engine which made my app super fast on the data that was frequently accessed . Elasticache supports hashes ,sets aswell this I loved most , without elasticache if I want to use caching on dynamo dB I would have used redis but that would be really difficult for me to deploy and maintain. Simple and easy to setup Dynamodb accelerator also does the same but it is specific to dynamo dB but elasticache can be used with multiple data stores. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. ElasticCache (for Redis) is simple to set up, reasonably priced, and very easy to use with modern development languages. It has amazing performance and security features. Its amazingly scalable, and very easy to use when developing applications. Cache is stored in primary storage instead of secondary, which makes it little time consuming. The default configurations give it TTL as infinite. It's basically the original redis while redis.io is a different product, not redis compatible without all it's features. elasticcache has all redis features, and all the clients fully supports it.
