It is fully managed NOSQL Mongo dB .Like RDS here also I don't need to worry about patches , security,hardware provisioning etc Every thing is managed by AWS. I just need to integrate with my app simple. **What do you dislike about Amazon DocumentDB?** Only one thing I came across while using document dB is it is not serverless. I need to manage the instance used by document dB. It is not like dynamodb. **What problems is Amazon DocumentDB solving and how is that benefiting you?** Document dB is fully managed NoSQL database which helped me by balancing load from users by creating copies across 3 availability zones.Automatic backup helped me. ### 3. While it also offering IAC compatibility which other DBAAS doesn't offer. **What do you dislike about Amazon DocumentDB?** Cost of going with AWS Database is I have found to be higher in when compared to other DBAAS providers. Adding to it, if we want to migrate to other database, it becomes a operational and technical headache. **What problems is Amazon DocumentDB solving and how is that benefiting you?** My organisation is pro AWS, and when we wanted to reduce the cost of our SAAS offering by pre reserving resources from AWS which included Databses as well. It helped us get a discount from AWS. ### 4. During my role as an intern in the company, we implemented the aws document db to store data and scaled it as per the firm requirments. also, it was very consistent, and aws support was beneficial during our project implementation. **What do you dislike about Amazon DocumentDB?** AWS documented was very useful and performed really well but the main drawback was lack of multi-region support, which AWS can and should fix going forward; other than that, AWS document DB is as good as it can get **What problems is Amazon DocumentDB solving and how is that benefiting you?** The main problem we faced was storing our JSON data and other files which needed to be encrypted, Hence AWS document DB was our perfect choice as we demonstrated its ability to encrypt data in our Final year project and used its same feature as an intern in our company. therefore, it major problem of encryption and benefitted us greatly throughout our role as an intern in the firm ### 5. It becomes more expensive as data volumes grow and additional instances are added to handle increasing traffic loads **What problems is Amazon DocumentDB solving and how is that benefiting you?** As it is a fully managed database offering by AWS, It has solved the problem of managing the database by ourselves and helped us focus on application logic. Also as it is MongoDB compatible, it's not a very new concept that we needed to learn. ### 6. Also, it is compatible with Mongo DB. Highly manageable, fault-tolerant and easy to create and destroy the infra as and when needed. It also has instant crash recovery. The security part is also good for the Document DB **What do you dislike about Amazon DocumentDB?** I am not satisfied with the updates they are releasing; I have experienced slowness with the new updates. Many features supported by SQL is not supported here which makes it little hard to handle **What problems is Amazon DocumentDB solving and how is that benefiting you?** Document DB gets integrated with Mongo DB quickly. No schema is required at the time of DB creation. It is a NoSQL offering from AWS. The DB backup and the availability of the instance at the time of the crash of the main DB are very good ### 7. So, if we need to bring up low ops and managed Document database, DocumentDB is a good choice **What do you dislike about Amazon DocumentDB?** DocumentDB only supports a limited number of ec2 types, which is not flexible. Even though DocumentDB is MongoDB API compatible, it still doesn't support some of the MongoDB features, so it won't be easy to migrate a backend from Mongo to DocumentDB **What problems is Amazon DocumentDB solving and how is that benefiting you?** DocumentDB helped us store and query unstructured data efficiently.
