**What do you dislike about Amazon CloudWatch?**

Although cloudwatch provides detailed metrics, it doesn't allow for much customization beyond the pre-loaded reports.

**Recommendations to others considering Amazon CloudWatch:**

Cloudwatch by itself is a great start to monitoring your cloud environment. However, we would recommend using multiple monitoring tools to get a more complete view of your overall cloud environment health.

**What problems is Amazon CloudWatch solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are using Amazon CloudWatch to monitor our entire cloud operation. Then pulling CloudWatch metrics into Ansible and Chef, we are able to proactively fix any issues with little to no human interaction.

  ### 41. Ideal way to figure out the CPU-utilization

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Haresh S. | Software Developer, Computer Software, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 16, 2017

**What do you like best about Amazon CloudWatch?**

The name stands out for itself to a large extent and i prefer the disk read and write operation and also network in and out mechanisms apart from the best way to tap into the CPU utilization for AWS based clustering,i use a lot of clustering and regression algorithms andthe name stands out and makes a niche for itself in a way, here i dont have to modify or change the already set ports and notifications are linked to email address.
Everytime there is an update it hits me right there,EC2 instance has to be created which is pretty good for tag level and root nodes

**What do you dislike about Amazon CloudWatch?**

It is not optimized for cloud scaling and the assertions mechanism gives a way for me to figure out the memory space utilized till date if it is greater than a certain threshold level of data and also the database connections if it hits more than 4000 pings per minute and also the all parameters are scattered across the web based front end making the UI cluttered ,clunky and tough to use and the cloud scale monitoring could be improvised and there is room for future improvements

**Recommendations to others considering Amazon CloudWatch:**

You can monitor the health of ec2 instance always and infrastructure alerts are classy way to stay connected about the AWS tools and dashboard off metrics are a must try feature

**What problems is Amazon CloudWatch solving and how is that benefiting you?**

All components were monitored timely ,now we are able to swap ,ram and disk usage periodically and it has the ownset of plugins which are remarkable and also makes the app user friendly like check_mk and check whether background process is running or not

**Reviewed Date:** July 31, 2018

**What do you like best about Amazon CloudWatch?**

Provides valuable insights to monitor your apps.

**What do you dislike about Amazon CloudWatch?**

CloudWatch will remove metrics from search if there was no new data published for that metric in the last two weeks, this is unfortunate for those who need to monitor non-frequently occurring metrics.

**What problems is Amazon CloudWatch solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Amazon CloudWatch metric math simplified almost real-time monitoring of our Amazon EFS file systems.

  ### 48. Amazon CloudWatch helped me fix my problem

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Glenn J. | Sr. Systems and Security Architect, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 15, 2017

Amazon CloudWatch is a great method of seeing what has happened to your system when you cannot view it directly. This allows you to view problems that happen overnight or anytime.

**What do you dislike about Amazon CloudWatch?**

Amazon CloudWatch is a bit difficult to setup. Once setup, it runs without a problem.

**Recommendations to others considering Amazon CloudWatch:**

If you need to find out what is happening with your EC2 instance use CloudWatch.

**What problems is Amazon CloudWatch solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I had an EC2 Linux system running that was constantly failing and could see why it was failing until I got CloudWatch to monitor the EC2 instance. After i got CloudWatch started I was able to see the problem and correct it. It was great.

  ### 50. Amazon Cloudwatch

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Manjushri S. | Java Software Developer, Information Technology and Services, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 03, 2017

**What do you like best about Amazon CloudWatch?**

I have been using Amazon Cloudwatch for over 1 year to monitor all the inhouse applications. Cloud watch is great with SNS to send out emails/alerts when certain thresholds are reached. It is also a great tool for monitoring Ec2 instance usage, termination and also checking lambda logs.

**What do you dislike about Amazon CloudWatch?**

Cloudwatch has some limits on things like - the number of alarms per month for free per region, number of API requests ; which can limit the monitoring capabilities for large companies with huge number of applications on cloud.

**What problems is Amazon CloudWatch solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Have been using AWS cloud watch on the console to view SNS topic metrics, using logs for debugging any lambda function failures. Also, graphs on the cloud watch integrated with different dashboards like SNS can be very intuitive to understand the usage of resources at real time.
