**What do you like best about Amazon CloudWatch?**

It offers native integration with AWS services, along with strong real-time monitoring for logs, metrics, and alerts. It helps eliminate fragmented monitoring by centralizing metrics, logs, and alarms in a single platform.

**What do you dislike about Amazon CloudWatch?**

The interface can feel complex, especially when you’re trying to build advanced queries. Costs can also rise significantly if you have a high log volume or rely heavily on custom metrics. At first, complex log querying takes some getting used to, and managing retention while keeping costs optimized requires careful planning.

**What do you like best about Amazon CloudWatch?**

AWS CloudWatch helps me monitor my application logs and alerts, find problems faster, and save time. It gives good value, is easy to get started with, and has many smart features that help me notice issues early. It also helps me check performance, and it integrates well with AWS REST APIs and AWS ETL applications like Glue and EMR. The UI is simple and easy to use.

  ### 5. Essential Monitoring Made Easy with Seamless Integration

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** sai kiran narayana . | software engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 12, 2025

**What do you like best about Amazon CloudWatch?**

This is a good option for basic monitoring, allowing you to view and debug logs, as well as track metrics and alarms. You only need a basic understanding of AWS to get started. In general, most AWS services automatically send alerts to CloudWatch, which is also the case in our application. I use it daily to check production logs. We have integrated CloudWatch with Datadog to gain more effective insights. Setting up this integration is straightforward, much like working with other loggers such as SLF4J and Log4J.

**What do you dislike about Amazon CloudWatch?**

I found it to be somewhat expensive compared to other software options, and I also thought the user interface was cluttered and difficult to understand. AWS CloudWatch offers only basic dashboards. In my opinion, a tool like Datadog might be a better alternative to this.

**What problems is Amazon CloudWatch solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In my project, we rely on Amazon CloudWatch to monitor both application performance and logs. Our main priority is tracking server health and monitoring the latency of our APIs, which are developed using Spring Boot on the backend. CloudWatch enables us to quickly detect failures, particularly during times of high traffic. We have set up log configurations so that any issues trigger immediate notifications through alarms.

At my workplace, we also use this service extensively for logging. We have several Spring Boot microservices built with Gradle, and for these, we use AWS CloudWatch as our primary logging tool. Additionally, in one of our Python projects, we utilized CloudWatch Logs for logging, integrating it with S3 and IAM. This integration allows us to track who uploads files and who modifies code, providing valuable insights into project activity.

  ### 6. Effortless Log Management and Seamless Integrations

**What do you dislike about Amazon CloudWatch?**

nothing just easy to make on the basis of services logs will be better to understand otherwise going according to time is quite harder

**What problems is Amazon CloudWatch solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It solves the problem of the deployed errors as well as tracking of logs so we can debug the thing easily as well as work on the deployment logs as well as development logs in it. Moreover, we can integrate for other services of cloud as well to get alerts as well when there is any issue happens as well

It’s easy to access and user friendly, and it’s also very easy to configure, set up, and get started with.

Navigating between logs, metrics, alarms, and dashboards feels disjointed, and the overall experience isn’t very cohesive. On top of that, the dashboarding options feel limited, especially compared to tools like Grafana.
