As of now, the Cloudwatch is at their best level what i dislike is they can improve their UI a bit.
There are lot more metrics to be configured to get the proper dashboard type monitoring but overall it's good

**What problems is Amazon CloudWatch solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Previously we are using many other services and in order to see the metrics we have to open each and every service provider's console to access the metrics now with cloud watch, we can view all the important Application-level metrics, Service level metrics in one go and in one screen itself.

  ### 3. Clouds watch metric is key to start troubleshooting

Not compatible with every metric but customer can leverage this using json file or custom which need search and having knowledge of coding.

There must be more custom option need go provide to cx for help.
Even the cloud watch agent is another issue.

**What problems is Amazon CloudWatch solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Metric related issue. Api call whenever issue due to lack of resources, customer can start self troubleshooting just need to know which metric need to check for issue.
Eg hanged - cpu, network

**What do you dislike about Amazon CloudWatch?**

there is not much to dislike about AWS cloud watch, it's just that you have to configure everything and understanding how to do that is a little time-consuming and confusing at times.

**What problems is Amazon CloudWatch solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Amazon AWS CloudWatch is a great service by AWS as you can monitor everything from a single place configure dashboards, alarms, notifications and actions to be performed if a certain condition is met, this help to tackle and unwanted situation and better performance .

  ### 7. Cloudwatch is an easy to use log monitoring service

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Venkatgiri S. | Infra Associate, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 16, 2022

**What do you like best about Amazon CloudWatch?**

I use to integrate Cloudwatch with most of the AWS services. As Cloudwatch is from AWS, the integration with any of its services is a cakewalk for the users. I have integrated Cloudwatch with VPC so that I can find everything that is happening in the VPC on a network level.

**What do you dislike about Amazon CloudWatch?**

Even though it is easy to use, the Cloudwatch dashboard unlike monitoring software from other vendors looks attractive and feels great to use. But since Cloudwatch is lightweight and responsive we don't need to complain much about the dashboard looks.

**What problems is Amazon CloudWatch solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This service solves the problem of alerting whenever a server or any other service configured, goes down. With AWS Cloudwatch, we can customize metrics as well. The Cloudwatch dashboard is displayed right inside the ec2 service when we select multiple instances at once.

  ### 8. My Experience

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 09, 2022

**What do you like best about Amazon CloudWatch?**

We get more refined metrics in different visual graphs about s3 buckets, read and write operations performed and a lot more for better analyzing were we need to optimize

**What do you dislike about Amazon CloudWatch?**

The data widgets should be larger rather than trying to fit in, since in times of system failure it's hard to navigate through the dashboard

**What problems is Amazon CloudWatch solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We heavily depend on CloudWatch to better check systems' health and oversee if everything is operational.

  ### 9. Cloudwatch for lambda monitoring

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tigran M. | Java Software Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**What do you dislike about Amazon CloudWatch?**

The big minus is the docs, I think the tool is so big that can do many functionalities, bunt for some reason, you cant fined every details on the docs to solve some problems

**Recommendations to others considering Amazon CloudWatch:**

if you using AWS functions, it's the best way to check your server or functions statuses, to avoid problems

**What problems is Amazon CloudWatch solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The common problem is a monitoring system, an alarm system that can help to avoid leek of errors and fat handle every problem dooring that alarms, for ex I use lambda and slack to monitor error requests

  ### 10. All in one monitoring solutions for your AWS infrastucture

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Priyabrat Prasad M. | IT Analyst, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 23, 2022

**What do you like best about Amazon CloudWatch?**

Amazon cloudwatch is everywhere doesn't matter which AWS service you choose. You can monitor most AWS service stats like CPU utilization, memory, etc. And it also gives you access to view the logs in real-time for all kinds of logs like application logs, service logs, etc. And the best part is you can also automate corrective actions based on the metrics or logs using cloud watch alarms.

**What do you dislike about Amazon CloudWatch?**

There is hardly anything to dislike for this service. Once you fully understand this service's capabilities, you can use it to its full potential. So, learning is required to use it to the full extent by integrating it with other AWS services.

**What problems is Amazon CloudWatch solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Amazon Cloudwatch to monitor our organization's EC2 instances, RDS instances, application logs. We have also created cloudwatch alarms based on the metrics and logs to create automated support tickets by integrating them with ServiceNow.

  ### 11. Cost Reduction & Monitoring utility for AWS hosted services - Amazon CloudWatch

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Subrata G. | Technical Lead, Information Technology and Services, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 14, 2021

**What do you like best about Amazon CloudWatch?**

Things that I love about the Amazon CloudWatch are :
1. We use it for Real Time monitoring of our AWS deployed applications. We utilize its built in standard reports for application monitoring. These reports give a brief of the system performance and over all health of it.
2. It allows us to setup high resolution alarms and send notifications if needed. It supports automation based on predefined thresholds. During lower CPU usage, we scale down or stop an instance, which helps in reducing waste, and thus resulting in cost saving. This helps in our resource optimization startegy.
3. It provides many key metrics such as - Disk read/write, CPU usage, and Network in/out etc. Unique feature of Amazon CloudWatch is that it allows you to assign upto ten dimensions to a metric. These metrics are the pulse of our cloud deployments. This aligns us to our health monitoring services.
4. It has enhanced our observability. We are able to corelate the key metrics, events and system logs data, and derive a optimum operating point by using historical data as refernce. All these metrics at one place has made this data corelation very easy. This has enhanced our system wide visibility.

**What do you dislike about Amazon CloudWatch?**

There are no dislikeable features of Amazon CloudWatch as such, but the service charges is comparatively on the higher side. Because there are other third party monitoring and log exporting tools available in the market at a cheaper cost. Since, it helps in reducing the overall resource utilization cost, so I don't think people should really complain regarding this cost.

**What problems is Amazon CloudWatch solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We track all of our virtual EC2 instances and AWS-hosted applications, most of which are microservices architecture-based. These generate a large volume of logs data and metric data. With the automation feature of Amazon CloudWatch, we auto scale our instances during high load / light load periods, which helps us check our resource cost. We monitor all the long-running instances, investigate the logs if required, and do a system health analysis. Managing amazon's relational database service has become easier. We administrate multiple AWS services (EC2, AWS RDS, Elastic Load balancers) In a single console, which is the core utility of the Amazon CloudWatch.

  ### 12. use of cloudwatch has been very good experience to monitor server metrics

  ### 13. Cloudwatch - A cloud based monitoring service

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sagar G. | System Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 13, 2021

**What do you like best about Amazon CloudWatch?**

Cloudwatch is an AWS-managed monitoring service that gives users excellent insights into their applications. You can store your application logs into cloudwatch using cloudwatch SDK APIs, set alarms for specific events, and take action based on it. Users can also create custom metrics and dashboards based on the data available. You can trigger autoscaling if any metric reaches a certain threshold. You can also analyze and query application logs using cloudwatch.

**What do you dislike about Amazon CloudWatch?**

Cloudwatch only has some defined free metrics for every service; to build a custom metric, you need to pay extra for each metric. Also, the data retention is limited in cloudwatch compared to other third-party tools available in the market. Also, users cannot transform logs before storing it in cloudwatch, which is a limitation of it.

**What problems is Amazon CloudWatch solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We're using cloudwatch to triggering autoscaling groups if CPU or memory utilization goes above a certain threshold. Also, it can send notifications to the application owner using SNS and SES in case of specific events. We're using it for analyzing application logs and created a dashboard to monitor the overall health of the fleet of Ec2 instances. We've set alarms when somethings goes wrong with the application using cloudwatch alarms.

  ### 14. AWS Cloudwatch - Good but not the best

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Farhad S. | Cloud Infrastructure Head, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 31, 2018

**What do you like best about Amazon CloudWatch?**

Love that cloudwatch events can be used to trigger AWS Lambda functions.

**What do you dislike about Amazon CloudWatch?**

Lack of intelligence analyzing AWS logs. We currently analyze our AWS CloudWatch logs using Splunk for lack of a better alternative with CloudWatch. Our approach is to make the CloudWatch events trigger Lambda which then sends the logs to Splunk for processing. Painful and expensive but it works.
The search is also slow and needs improvement compared to more modern tools.

**Recommendations to others considering Amazon CloudWatch:**

Very easy to set up and get going. Meets most of the requirements for search speed and analytics until the logs start getting really large. At that point you might have to consider using more modern professional paid tools.

**What problems is Amazon CloudWatch solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It provides a great dashboard with varying metrics to watch all our AWS entities.

  ### 15. Amazon CloudWatch Review

**Reviewed Date:** February 22, 2022

**What do you like best about Amazon CloudWatch?**

Amazon CloudWatch tightly integrates with most Amazon Web Services workloads giving an excellent insight into service workloads.

**What do you dislike about Amazon CloudWatch?**

As Amazon CloudWatch is an Amazon Web Services service, out of the box, the service has vendor lock-in.

**Recommendations to others considering Amazon CloudWatch:**

Ensure all of your setup and configurations are with Infrastructure as Code and version-controlled with Git. This way, you can track all changes made to your account.

**What problems is Amazon CloudWatch solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We gain incredible insight into all of our platform applications. We can pivot quickly and scale our infrastructure based on customer workloads.

  ### 16. Best tool for monitoring cloud resources!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sushant V. | IT & Client Support Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**What do you like best about Amazon CloudWatch?**

Provides a lot of metrics for cloud resources, whenever needed. Also the ability to trigger events on certain actions is a huge plus. Lastly billing and costs alerts helps in keeping check our usage.

**What do you dislike about Amazon CloudWatch?**

The service can be a little costly. Also, the live metrics are sometimes not instant and take some time to refresh. So the dashboard does not always have fresh data.

**What problems is Amazon CloudWatch solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With Amazon Cloudwatch we have been able to monitor our resources more efficiently. Plus we have also enabled various notifications/alarms for scaling and also billing if the resource goes up a certain limit.

  ### 17. Detailed Monitoring Tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Vivek M. | S, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 14, 2021

**What do you like best about Amazon CloudWatch?**

It provides a good monitoring service for the other amazon tools like Ec2, Volumes, Cloudformation, etc. For viewing logs for a particular period, it can be done using the cloudwatch creating logbook. The metrics provided by cloudwatch are very detailed and are easily understood by the users. Whatever things are required to be monitored or triggered are first created using the metrics, and then the process is done. The logs are also easily readable, and troubleshooting can be done. For putting the alarms, it is merged with metrics and is allowed to trigger easily—overall an excellent tool by amazon.

**What do you dislike about Amazon CloudWatch?**

No such cons right now, but the tutorials for AWS cloudwatch should have more documentation that is adequately understood as the help from the support team also sometimes is a big challenge.

**What problems is Amazon CloudWatch solving and how is that benefiting you?**

**Reviewed Date:** May 31, 2021

**What do you like best about Amazon CloudWatch?**

The best tool to collect application metrics and logs to monitor services in a Production environment. Using Cloudwatch, I like to set alarms to reach a specific threshold and send automated emails. We can build custom Dashboards to monitor multiple services and applications. We can configure logs based on keyword search and display metrics.

Sometimes Live metrics are getting delayed to refresh on Dashboard. Otherthings i noticed, its not allowing to collect logs outside of cloud environment. It collect metrics/logs with in Cloud environment's application.

**Recommendations to others considering Amazon CloudWatch:**

I recommend it when you need to monitor yr services using metrics in the cloud environment. You can set up a custom Dashboard to keep an eye on yr services all the time. You can set alarms if something failed or crossed the threshold to avoid failure.

**What problems is Amazon CloudWatch solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have several microservices and GUI applications deployed in the Production environment. We need to monitor those services' logs and metrics such as memory, CPU usage, Database connections, exceptions, and some request/response handling custom debug statements based on specific keywords. For this purpose, we use AWS CloudWatch services to configure and monitor all those metrics in the Production envrionment.

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kumar P. | Software Engineer 2, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 01, 2021

**What do you like best about Amazon CloudWatch?**

It's the ability to track all your AWS services in one program and the ability to create all types of dashboards for your services is great.
It is very intuitive to use, one can set alarms so easily and quickly, one of the best things since anyone without programming knowledge can also do this very easily.
It collects a lot of log information if we want it to, this helps us pin point the exact problem to fix the issue.
Easy implementation, just a few lines which one can rinse and repeat when provisioning workloads from code or some radio boxes when doing it dynamically.

**What do you dislike about Amazon CloudWatch?**

Customers have to pay a lot for detailed reports and log storages.
I also feel that for some features the user has to invest a lot of time for learning it.
CloudWatch has no provision to show milliseconds, it shows numbers in 'e' notation which i feel is not a good user experience.

**What problems is Amazon CloudWatch solving and how is that benefiting you?**

AWS CloudWatch is a monitoring service for AWS cloud resources and the applications we run on AWS. My team uses Amazon CloudWatch to collect and track metrics, collect and monitor log files, set alarms, and automatically react to changes for our c8y applications hosted on AWS. AWS cloudwatch allows us to record metrics for S3, EC2, ELB, EBS. I would highly recommend this product to the folks who want to pursue a career in Cloud computing or develop Cloud applications with AWS. We use AWS to synchronizing files that all the users need. No simple switch to disable alarms through the EC2 console.

**Recommendations to others considering Amazon CloudWatch:**

Be prepared to plan how best to notify groups / users based on SNS topics and subscriptions so as to avoid too much setup on the alarms in relation to different notification channels.

  ### 45. Best Monitoring tool for Amazon Resources

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 24, 2018

**What do you like best about Amazon CloudWatch?**

Amazon CloudWatch is the best in business for monitoring your Amazon Lambda. The ability to set and remove alarms with Lambda is very easy. This is very much useful for debugging your script that you have prepared by getting logs itself.

**What do you dislike about Amazon CloudWatch?**

The restriction to Amazon Resources is the main limitation I found for this service. I think it can grow very much if it expands its reach to other services. I also feel some difficulties when trying to analyse different metrics.

**Recommendations to others considering Amazon CloudWatch:**

It is the best tool to monitor your stuff at AWS. If you are using any of the AWS Services and you want to debug anything on cloud then Amazon CloudWatch is the most helpful that I found in the market.

**What problems is Amazon CloudWatch solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our clients are mostly inclined towards AWS and some of them are using Azure. So for our team CloudWatch is very much helpful. We use this tool to monitor our EC2, Lambda and other services provided by Amazon for issues, set/remove alarms and much more.

  ### 46. AWS Cloudwatch: consolidating cloud logs and metrics made easy

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Loris P. | CTO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 29, 2019

**What do you like best about Amazon CloudWatch?**

Cloudwatch is designed to be very logic and tidy. You can just view logs, organized in log buckets, or you can use metrics to compose Dashboards. The code of the dashboard can be exported, so you can reproduce the same dashboard in a different AWS account (for ex. from Dev to QA).

**What do you dislike about Amazon CloudWatch?**

The default settings are really 'broad': you can monitor really basic things, unless you set up more complex criteria - which you have to configure manually and cherry-pick from dozens of options.

**Recommendations to others considering Amazon CloudWatch:**

Is the tool to have if you use AWS

**What problems is Amazon CloudWatch solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Consolidating logs in the cloud is a big problem by definition. Cloudwatch does that wonderfully, allowing you to automate responses (such as rebooting instances or containers if CPU rate exceeds a threshold) and notify sysadmins.

  ### 47. Excellent App & Infra monitoring tool

It allows to create events based on rules, it can be for memory utilization, CPU utilization, Cost & many more. It provides ability to create a customized dashboard.

**What do you dislike about Amazon CloudWatch?**

Nothing much dislike for Cloudwatch, the only feature i would expect is for integration of Slack, Webhooks.

**What do you like best about Amazon CloudWatch?**

Amazon cloudWatch is the one of the best services provided by the Amazon web services. With the help of amazon cloudwatch we can monitor the health of our instances on exiting on AWS. Cloudwatch test and check the health of ec2 instances , elastic load balancer any many other instances . It set a threshold , by which it checks the health of instance.

**What do you dislike about Amazon CloudWatch?**

The output of health check can be shown in graphs , bars , so that a normal user can easily understand the health of his/her instances.

**Recommendations to others considering Amazon CloudWatch:**

When you use any service provided by AWS , cloudwatch is automatically register with your instances , it is free of cost service of AWS.

**What problems is Amazon CloudWatch solving and how is that benefiting you?**

  ### 50. CloudWatch Monitoring

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Broadcast Media | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 04, 2019

**What do you like best about Amazon CloudWatch?**

I love how configurable the monitoring is in CloudWatch. I like being able to review my logs in the format that is presented. I like the query functions that allow me to grep all of the information I need to a specific time frame.

**What do you dislike about Amazon CloudWatch?**

Sometimes it can be a little difficult to find exactly what you are looking to configure. I don't always like how the query system does not pull consistent data. It is almost like it take the query to literally and only pulls for explicit lines related to the one string.

**What problems is Amazon CloudWatch solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have solved problems by using amazon cloudwatch by using it to monitor the overall health of our services and having logs to track issues.
