  ### 46. Great for beginners, but lacks notification options.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jaime J. | Engineering Change Coordinator: Global Corporate Common Components, Program Development, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 27, 2017

**What do you like best about Amazon CloudWatch?**

I like that the data can be viewed in a graph format. Being able to see the exact time data spikes helpful when monitoring certain activity. I also like that you can set alerts that will notify you when something exceeds the set threshold.

**What do you dislike about Amazon CloudWatch?**

Alert notifications are only sent via email. I also couldn't find a way to send the alerts to multiple people. Since people collaborate on projects when alerts are sent it's necessary for the alert to go to the entire team. That way everyone is informed of what is happening, and if action is required it can be handled immediately instead of waiting on 1 single person that may be unavailable.

**What problems is Amazon CloudWatch solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Mainly used to gather data to monitor application utilization and performance. The data captured is also used to help with troubleshooting crash reports.

  ### 47. Robust and full featured monitoring

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 09, 2018

**What do you like best about Amazon CloudWatch?**

Alerts are robust and easy to set up on targets.

**What do you dislike about Amazon CloudWatch?**

Interface is dated, and can be confusing at to interpret. Requires that you use AWS infrastructure. Cannot reference other clouds.

**What problems is Amazon CloudWatch solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Watching staging and production VM instances for fluctuations in performance. Have been notified several times when critical resources were being heavily loaded.

  ### 48. Amazon CloudWatch Review

**Reviewed Date:** July 19, 2018

accommodation, speed, versatility

  ### 50. Log aggregation, monitoring, and alarms

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 13, 2018

**What do you like best about Amazon CloudWatch?**

I really appreciate that AWS provides a tightly integrated logging solution with KMS encryption and PCI compliance.

**What do you dislike about Amazon CloudWatch?**

The interface for viewing logs is very hard to use and required something like an ELK stack sitting on top of it.

**What problems is Amazon CloudWatch solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We needed to be able to store our logs in a PCI compliant manner from EC2 instances on AWS. CloudWatch, the awslogs service, and easily configured logrotation to S3 have allowed us to accomplish our goals.
