**What do you like best about Amazon CloudWatch?**

1. Provides near real-time monitoring and logs
2. Custom queries and dashboard customisations are available
3. Can be easily integrated with AWS lambda, SNS etc for alerting or creating workflows.

**What do you dislike about Amazon CloudWatch?**

1. Cost: cost may increasing exponentially if lot of custom events are used.
2. Dashboard customisation are not at par with tools like kibana or grafana.
3. There is a steep learning curve for new developers

**What problems is Amazon CloudWatch solving and how is that benefiting you?**

1. Alerting for AWS resources when CPU utilizations increases beyond threshold or if resources are under stress.
2. Real time monitoring of infrastructure

  ### 2. CloudWatch has stopped in time

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gabriel M. | Infrastructure Analyst, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 01, 2023

**What do you like best about Amazon CloudWatch?**

CloudWatch was good but they didn't provide any update that could be helpful last year. They have a good dashboard to follow your usage but poor documentation or features to provide any new solution.

**What do you dislike about Amazon CloudWatch?**

With no updates, other solutions are becoming better than CloudWatch. Plus, we have the price that increases a lot while we need to output some data for other tools consuming that.

**What problems is Amazon CloudWatch solving and how is that benefiting you?**

To provide ipsec vpn connection we used it to monitor the connections and the status that the vpn has. It was used as trigger to warning us about a lost connection or even a bandwidth limit usage.

Amazon CloudWatch provides monitoring for AWS cloud resources and the applications customers run on AWS.
+ It is usefull to get an overview of data.

+ The UI design can be better.

+ CloudWatch does not give you any recommendations, so you have to know what you're doing.

**Recommendations to others considering Amazon CloudWatch:**

Adding more metrics so we can hook to more operational processes and information.

**What problems is Amazon CloudWatch solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Cloudwatch to measure our usage in RDS and EC2 instances. It displays the current status of the suite and identify whats going on..

**Reviewed Date:** February 15, 2018

**What do you like best about Amazon CloudWatch?**

It is basically self-sustaining. There has yet to be a breach of confidentiality, and that is important in the medical field.

**What do you dislike about Amazon CloudWatch?**

Not much. There is a learning curve, as with any software. But a lot of the technical difficulties are handled by the Amazon Support Center.

**Recommendations to others considering Amazon CloudWatch:**

Take into consideration not only confidentiality but also ease-of-use, especially with startup.

**What problems is Amazon CloudWatch solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Basically, confidential record keeping. I run a medical clinic and that is the top priority. As I said above, there have been no problems with breaches and I assume there never will be any.
