## Amazon Aurora Reviews
  ### 1. Amazon Aurora tool for reliable storage with good security

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Vasileia G. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 17, 2023

**What do you like best about Amazon Aurora?**

The best thing I liked is the reliability and infrasctructure, in addition to showing great durability in global data and that MySQL can be easily used and the control panel shows the useful and necessary functions at hand.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Aurora?**

Stays may be somewhat slow and require a restart.

**What problems is Amazon Aurora solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We process our data in real time in the cloud and whenever there is high availability we manage everything related to the database and everything arises in good management and without erorrs.

  ### 2. Amazing Experience of AWS Aurora

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Akeel A. | AWS Devops Engineer, Information Technology and Services, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 18, 2023

**What do you like best about Amazon Aurora?**

The majority of the time, Amazon Aurora just works and can be used as a drop-in replacement for conventional PostgreSQL or MySQL. Both have been used in my job, but I've mainly used the PostgreSQL option, which is fantastic for us. We take advantage of the flexibility to create multi-node clusters with read endpoints, and the automated failover is crucial for our use cases. It works nicely for us as well.

Even better, Aurora includes a serverless option so that you can avoid paying for what may be an often idle instance while still having to plan for your peak.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Aurora?**

If you don't currently use PostgreSQL or MySQL, your application/SQL adjustments or more work may be needed to move data from another database to Aurora. There are various concepts to comprehend regarding failover and when it could happen. Additionally, the serverless approach might not always scale down as much as you would like.

**What problems is Amazon Aurora solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our Software as a Service solution uses Amazon Aurora (PostgreSQL), which acts as our relational database. It removes the requirement for us to deploy and manage the database because AWS does much of it for us. Additionally, it offers HA with readers that don't affect write performance and multi-node clusters. It accomplishes all of this without our assistance because we previously supported PostgreSQL.

We may be more cost-effective by employing serverless in circumstances where the load is unpredictable.

I don't have to deal with manual backups with myself and it is significantly faster than RDS.

  ### 21. Database with Great performance with availability

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lakhan D. | DevOps Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 06, 2023

**What do you like best about Amazon Aurora?**

The Most helpful thing about Aurora is its easy-to-use console. All operations related to the database like backup, launching a new DB server, and horizontal and vertical scaling can be achieved with some clicks.
Faster storage, KMS encryption, global database, and multi-AZ feature are the upsides of using it. I found the console is very user-friendly and easy to use.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Aurora?**

The only downside of using it is the cost factor. It is more expensive than general RDS. Due to this cost issue, sometimes it's difficult to choose it as your DB service.

**What problems is Amazon Aurora solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are using it in our backend automation with lambda where more IOPS is required. Lambda runs seamless with this RDS and complete task in minimal time.

Additional data transfer cost is one area I didn't like about it. Apart from that the smaller instances sometimes face out of connection easily (this too shoule be taken care of.)

**What problems is Amazon Aurora solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I can rely on Aurora for my RDBMS needs, once uploaded my initial schema to the server I feel like I am done and everything is done by AWS itself. I mostly use PosrtgresDB with Aurora, and settting up one is really easy, plus I can take snapshots on regular intervals.

By embracing Amazon Aurora, organizations can unlock new levels of efficiency, reliability, and scalability, driving innovation and growth in today's data-driven world.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Aurora?**

Amazon Aurora, like any technology, has its share of drawbacks that should be considered alongside its numerous benefits. The complexity of setup, limited compatibility with non-standard SQL, potential higher costs for heavy workloads, limited control over maintenance activities, and dependency on AWS are aspects that organizations need to evaluate based on their specific needs and priorities. Despite these limitations, Amazon Aurora remains a powerful and scalable database solution, providing impressive performance and reliability for a wide range of use cases.

**What problems is Amazon Aurora solving and how is that benefiting you?**

  ### 29. Amazon Aurora is a great DBaaS offering

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kevin S. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 09, 2023

**What do you like best about Amazon Aurora?**

Amazon Aurora just works for the most part and can be a drop in replacement for using traditional PostgreSQL or MySQL. I've worked with both, but more the PostgreSQL variant, and it works great for us. The ability to have multi-node clusters with read endpoints is something we use, and the automatic failover is important for our use cases. It also performs well for us.

Even better, Aurora has a serverless option so that you don't have to provision for your peak and have what may be an often idle instance being paid for.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Aurora?**

If you don't already use PostgreSQL or MySQL, then there may be changes to your application/SQL or more work required if you have data that needs to be migrated to Aurora. There are some things to understand about how failover occurs or when it might occur as well. And the serverless option may sometimes not scale down as far as you might like.

**What problems is Amazon Aurora solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Amazon Aurora (PostgreSQL) is the database used for our Software as a Service offering and serves as our relational database. It eliminates the need for us to provision and administer the database, that is largely handled by AWS for us. It also provides HA with multi-node clusters and readers that don't impact write performance. It does all this without us having to do anything special as we already supported PostgreSQL.

In environments where load is not consistent, using serverless allows us to be more cost effective.

**Reviewed Date:** May 22, 2023

**What do you like best about Amazon Aurora?**

The Amazon Aurora is a fully managed database that helps encrypt databases using keys that we create using Amazon KMS. The best feature I found is that the latency is less in the replication across clusters in Global Database.
Also, Aurora outperforms standard MySQL in throughput while increasing availability and endurance

**What do you dislike about Amazon Aurora?**

I believe Aurora should provide active-active (like DynamoDB tables) like we should be able to write in multiple regions or masters. This feature is yet not available in AWS.

**What problems is Amazon Aurora solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We were facing a compatibility issue and process outcomes were low. So we switched to Amazon Aurora and we got better business process outcomes, good risk management, and encryption using Amazon KMS, on the compliance level also we are satisfied. The maintenance time needed is less in Aurora and the storage and infra setup which is needed for this is also less.

  ### 36. Amazon Aurora is database service is fast, can handle a lot of data, and is not too expensive.

**Reviewed Date:** March 30, 2023

**What do you like best about Amazon Aurora?**

Amazon Aurora is a powerful and flexible database solution that offers high performance, scalability, and availability, making it a great choice for modern, high-growth businesses.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Aurora?**

Limited compatibility: While Aurora is compatible with MySQL and PostgreSQL, there may be some differences in syntax or functionality that could require code changes or modifications to your applications. Additionally, Aurora may not support all features and plugins that are available in traditional MySQL or PostgreSQL databases.
Vendor lock-in: Because Aurora is a proprietary database service offered by AWS, there is a risk of vendor lock-in if you rely heavily on Aurora's features and functionality. Switching to another database service or provider could require significant effort and potentially impact your applications.
Network latency: Because Aurora uses a distributed architecture across multiple availability zones, there can be additional network latency compared to a single-node database. However, this latency is usually minimal and can be mitigated with appropriate application design and optimization.

**What problems is Amazon Aurora solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Amazon Aurora solves several problems commonly faced by businesses when managing relational databases, including:

Scalability: Traditional relational databases can be difficult to scale as your application grows. With Amazon Aurora, you can easily scale your database up or down as needed without downtime or performance impact.

Performance: Relational databases can be slow and inefficient, especially when dealing with large data sets or complex queries. Amazon Aurora is designed to be highly performant, with low latency and high throughput, making it a great choice for applications that require fast response times.

Availability: Traditional relational databases can be vulnerable to downtime and data loss due to hardware failures, software bugs, or human error. Amazon Aurora is designed to be highly available and resilient, with automatic failover and replication across multiple availability zones to ensure that your data is always available.

Compatibility: If you're using a traditional relational database, migrating to a new database platform can be difficult and time-consuming. Amazon Aurora is compatible with MySQL and PostgreSQL, which means that you can use your existing MySQL or PostgreSQL tools and applications with Aurora.
