**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dony N. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 21, 2023

**What do you like best about Amazon Aurora?**

Amazon Aurora is characterized by high availability and performance in the cloud that few tools of the same characteristics offer, the cost is really low and its use guarantees integrated security, with regular backups and fully protected by the Aurora system. It is a fully managed system which reduces the workload and automates many daily tasks that would take a lot of time to perform manually. Another important point to take into account is that the tool automatically recovers from any failure, if one of our instances fails the system uses replicas to repair them creating new instances automatically.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Aurora?**

The configuration is complex, other problems that I have personally detected is the lack of a technical support that solves conflicts instantly, you always have to send an email and wait for the team decides to answer it. It is true that using Aurora replicas fixes failures without losing data, but in some cases there is an error that I have received where the replication stops and the data within the instance is lost, this also applies to MySQL read replication.

**What problems is Amazon Aurora solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We decided to migrate from MySQL to Aurora for performance reasons, and currently we also use it for database clustering, including the creation and use of instances. For security reasons the tool also performs well, our data is always protected, and the connection is totally secure especially within our applications, we really handle a lot of data volumes and thanks to Aurora this data remains encrypted. Thanks to the application we have improved our software services without paying expensive licenses, the process has benefited us so much that we have reduced by 80% the costs for the design of business applications, obtaining more satisfied customers and becoming competitive in the labor market.

  ### 4. Aurora for college_app

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Korla G. | Open source contributor , Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 19, 2023

**What do you like best about Amazon Aurora?**

Best thing about aurora is it is server less and it is relational data base .
It is more fast compared to normal RDS while Read/write updates.
Aurora is also auto scaled based on the load and I can add up to 15 read replicas and as a user it's huge.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Aurora?**

Aurora is expensive compared to RDS while data transfers.
I belive that AWS must offer free tier of aurora too to certain extent like s3 ec2 etc.

**What problems is Amazon Aurora solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Aurora is completely managed like RDS I don't need to worry about all fire walls, configurations etc with just few clicks it's all set.
It is easy to use unlike RDS it is serverless I need to pay per invocation. It is extremely fast as it combines both MYSQL and Postgres sql. This is amazing.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Arnab D. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 16, 2023

**What do you like best about Amazon Aurora?**

The most remarkable thing about Amazon Aurora is the relationship and integration that can be made with other products of (AWS), the most important are Amazon S3 and Amazon RDS. The backups are another positive side of the service, as they are always encrypted and protected, your data is shielded. The performances of the instances are optimal, and the data storage is extensive, being able to work very large databases without interruptions and the best thing without a doubt is that everything is hosted in the cloud, having wider capabilities. The program is self-manageable, which is excellent because there are no interventions and scaling is fully automatic. The maintenance is constant, the servers are clean, and the indexing capabilities are very complete.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Aurora?**

I have had few problems using the Amazon Aurora service, a minor problem could be its price since it is not an economic product, but it is well worth its use, there is little information for the problems that arise within the program almost always have to send ticket to support, I would like a live chat where you can make complaints or perhaps phone numbers to have a more personalized support, they have an extensive manual of errors, but there are problems that are not solved with manuals.

**What problems is Amazon Aurora solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Amazon Aurora for its ability to maintain data services, as it allows us to move administrative tasks to more automated solutions. Previously we were concerned about data synchronizations especially when developing software with analytical character, thanks to this program we have been able to improve this by using the replicas because we do not have to synchronize a lot of data in several instances just by replicating we solve this section, it is the pillar of our relational database. We are a small company, so our applications are usually completely internal, for which this program is perfectly suited.

  ### 8. Very interesting and streamlined!

1. Serverless computing
2. Seamless integrations with other AWS services
3. Makes continuous backups automatically
4. Automated multi-Region replication
5. Support for up to 15 read replicas
6. Security out of the box

**What do you dislike about Amazon Aurora?**

Still not enough community support as compared to RDS

**What problems is Amazon Aurora solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Using Aurora we are able to achieve high-performance workloads that require low latency and high throughput.

  ### 9. Robust in usage, upto db standards. relatively expensive.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** William W. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 07, 2023

**What do you like best about Amazon Aurora?**

Like other Amazon services I must say that Aurora is very easy to implement and configure in its initial stage, the interface is easy to access and the native language is easy to master, Aurora offers an advanced security system that in fact you can be running any application, and it will automatically save the backups. Amazon Aurora is always being constantly updated, the data is always being improved, this always verifies the good service they offer. Easy configuration of data instances, with simple steps that can be executed by any novice in the field. Unique ability to integrate with other Amazon products, ideal for those of us who develop heavy applications, as data can be replicated effectively. Replication-based analytics, with the ability to measure failures. Very fast instances, which can be connected and integrated to Amazon EC2 in a simple way without data loss of backups.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Aurora?**

Simple interface but very repetitive, like all Amazon products, however it must be recognized that it is practical. Little customization for MySQL, expensive storage service, there are cheaper products. Executions of data instances can be very slow. Some delays with the update system, but it does not affect the inner workings.

**What problems is Amazon Aurora solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We needed to combine commercial databases with open source databases, so Aurora fit our needs perfectly. We can run applications in the Aurora interface based on MySQL and PostgreSQL, as designers this is a great advantage as we don't have to modify anything just load and go. Furthermore, we also got storage benefits, and the availability to scale when we need it gives us a lot of security. In the area of data recovery and replication, it is a significant tool as it is totally self-healing and seamlessly saves all the backups needed while we are testing applications. It influenced our cost system by improving it at all, and its simplicity makes it an easy product to implement among all users.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tareq M. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 03, 2023

**What do you like best about Amazon Aurora?**

Aurora abstracts the connections of the database instances relationships, with a sophisticated link point mechanism, achieving more speed when processing intermediate data, which is extremely positive for large volumes of data that need to be processed quickly. Aurora is a powerful tool when replicating data, since it manages everything in its platform with read-only queries. Aurora performs excellently in data storage, as it allows you to process a lot of queries in a fast and secure way, it also performs in the area of index creation, in fact, the storage is always changing automatically according to the data you enter into the platform. Aurora is a very secure cloud service, in fact your data infrastructure is always protected, as they have third parties periodically verifying the security of their system.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Aurora?**

It is a very complex service to understand in principle the steps to create instances and work with clusters are heavy and complicated, the interface is not easy to understand when you start using the program. Basically aurora does not have a defined cost, everything will depend on the amount of relational data to be processed, this is confusing since the amount of data to be handled periodically is not always known.

**What problems is Amazon Aurora solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We always implement Amazon services in our company, so we started using Amazon Aurora to handle a lot of data and as a method of organization the tool really combines speed with fluidity and allows you to automate many parameters that initially can be complex to understand, we have been migrating data from Amazon RDS to the Aurora PostgreSQL interface with very satisfactory results in the analysis process. We have developed a lot of applications on the Aurora interface, also getting in the process keeping all our data safe and secure from any hacking.

**Reviewed by:** Amina A. | HR Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 17, 2023

**What do you like best about Amazon Aurora?**

Multiple options for the main database instances. Aurora offers several data instances on which to work on any type of application. I like to use the data cluster, where I can replicate up to 15 times independently of the main database. Resources are hosted in various locations around the world, offering the widest availability zones in the market. Data compatibility with MySQL and PostgreSQL; another very important feature is the compatibility with Amazon RDS proxy, which allows excellent integration. I also want to highlight the distributed and shared storage architecture, which offers better performance and scalability than other services I have used. I love that the data API does not require a persistent connection to the data cluster; Aurora replaces it with an efficient, secure HTTP link, integrating in the process with the AWS SDK.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Aurora?**

There have been some errors when connecting to the data instance; recently, there have also been errors recovering the account attributes, as they tell me that some of the console functions may be impaired. I have followed the steps to fix it; however, the recovery process can be tedious. In some cases, I have had to restart the data instance as it crashes or hangs, but my connection is fine. I hope they fix these problems.

**What problems is Amazon Aurora solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In the IT department, we have implemented Aurora because our data is fully protected both in transit and at rest, offering greater security. Aurora has had a positive impact on our economy; it has favored us by reducing costs when executing projects in its database. We have created multiple instances in different regions of AWS, obtaining incredible yields and improving our service in software development. We have also achieved better performance in the creation of storefront websites as well as in the development of web and mobile applications.

**What do you like best about Amazon Aurora?**

Speed and ease of scaling, a relational database compatible with MySQL, encrypted data that provides end-to-end security, a super-customizable MySQL configuration, a good cost/speed ratio, high availability even without a server, adding read nodes is very easily using Aurora, compatibility with MySQL and PostgreSQL, great support, and a qualified staff to respond to any failure.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Aurora?**

Routine problems when connecting or maintaining connections to database instances; some slowdown during updates; hours for a full restore to complete; there may be some plugins that do not work; otherwise, the tool behaves very well, and I would like to continue using it in the future.

**What problems is Amazon Aurora solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We run applications on your servers, especially those that require automation, since the cloud provider takes care of all the administration. We can operate on demand since Aurora automatically starts or shuts down and adapts to the needs of the applications we develop. Furthermore, we take advantage of its hard disk capacity and read/write nodes.

**What do you like best about Amazon Aurora?**

Compatibility with PostgreSQL version 9.6, the main technical feature that makes Aurora an indispensable tool is its storage is auto-scalable in blocks of 10 GB. However, the storage grows not inside in the performance of the database because I do not need to stop the service I am using; the computing capacity offers me many options in RAM and CPU for the creation of instances that use my nodes, and I can create maintenance windows when creating the service, also has high availability, all backups are always enabled I do not need to configure them and never affect the service provided by aurora.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Aurora?**

They guarantee that disk errors are automatically repaired. However, I have had some problems; the cost calculation is unclear. It depends on each client's need, selected instances, disk space and the number of read and write operations. However, it is a complete service that continues to grow over time.

**What problems is Amazon Aurora solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We mainly implement Aurora for the design of enterprise applications in the cloud for its high-performance capacity; recently, we set out to create mobile applications with this service obtaining very favorable results, for security encryption is complete, allowing to keep safe all applications and user data stored.
