**Reviewed by:** Saif A. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 17, 2023

**What do you like best about Amazon Aurora?**

Amazon aurora represents a cloud native upgrade that improves the performance of relational databases, the implementation is very simple and can be adopted by any company, being open source makes it more versatile than other tools, you can run multiple applications on the Aurora database and the storage space for work is extensive, the open source database is so simple that anyone with a technical language can understand it, I like being able to run PostgreSQL and MySQL I think this has been an innovation to these two, the program is commercial and created by a company like Amazon which provides reliability and security above all, backups and data recovery is another important point to add about the features that make this program a tool to take attention. The support for data migration is sensational, especially the pg-dump commands. Monitoring is at no additional cost and is included in the packages.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Aurora?**

The cost per hour to use Amazon is very high; the auto-scaling feature has a defined parameter for activation; Aurora's storage system is fault-tolerant; however, many files on disk can throw secondary errors; I would like more accountability with other database engines; when computer nodes fail, Aurora can be slow to recover; however, so far everything has been resolved correctly; the initial setup and using the program at first can be cumbersome.

**What problems is Amazon Aurora solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have employed the use of Amazon Aurora in our web applications department since the backups allow us to work without failures, in fact, when there is any interruption in the nodes, the recoveries allow us to continue with the projects without errors. Currently, we also implement it in our hosting and cybersecurity services, and the reason is that Aurora is flexible with storage and instance scaling, giving better results in this area. Despite being expensive software, it is important to note that the use of the database has benefited us in terms of cost reduction compared to other options on the market.

Amazon Aurora provides easy integration with your services or application, as we can access aurora by running a single command or with the user interface using a third party service, more over we can see the logs and monitoring in the monitoring option, we can implement it with easy access and customer support is 24 hours available for the communication, our orgnaization is frequently using multiple amazon Aurora instances of different sizes.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Aurora?**

i havent felt any of the dislikes in the Amazon Aurora yet.

**What problems is Amazon Aurora solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are managing multiple databases in a single Aurora instance but the problem which we are facing is the costing and optimization of the cost also we can not increase the storage and also we can not view the storage which is being used and how much storage do we have.

**What do you like best about Amazon Aurora?**

I like that it has an extensive storage capacity and performance, which makes it very useful for working in large databases, it is easy to use and a very reliable tool that integrates very well with other services (AWS), you do not need an extensive learning curve, certainly much faster than previous versions of MySQL. The interface is the same as most AWS products, so you will feel comfortable from the beginning, it is a tool that is basically available to you at all times, if there are problems it will always be working for you, the configuration of the clusters is also generally very simple. It is fully scalable with read replicas, the support team is competent and always available for requests.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Aurora?**

The errors when using this service have been very few, I can say that perhaps I have noticed some slow processes, however it is basically normal, the price is not economic, but it adapts perfectly to the needs of my company, I have noticed in some cases slowness in loading data, but it does not affect the performance at all, some additional charges for the use of storage that were not budgeted, but currently we handle large volume and it is manageable.

**What problems is Amazon Aurora solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Currently, it is a very useful tool for data encryption in our company, it provides security that other service has not allowed, shielding the data we handle. The automatic replication by regions is another important factor and use of this RDS for our organization, we also use it and integrate it with other AWS services to achieve better results in the area of application development and website management, it is also a very important storage unit for us, basically we can store large volumes of data for manageable costs.

Mostly it's scalability and compatibility with MySql. Goes without saying - the performance is almost beyond comparison with the competition. The consistent auto-repair function is also worth mentioning.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Aurora?**

That it's restricted to deployments Amazon ecosystems (understanding that it is propreitary). The costs for large databases can quickly escalate

**Reviewed by:** Ibrahim Y. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**What do you like best about Amazon Aurora?**

I want to delve into how Amazon Aurora grows as we are adding data at the beginning we are offered 10 GB of storage however as we are adding storage grows, this is done fully automatically, for I do not have to be monitoring my disk. Replications are much faster, another interesting feature is that it is completely cloud native, so you get high availability when using the Aurora service. Aurora is also very persuasive in fact it stores 6 backups every time we write code within the platform using 3 easy and accessible methods, another no less important feature is to fix corrupted data in automatic the Aurora software does it very well. It automatically scales up to 3 replicas, and can be configured to always have the right amount.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Aurora?**

Very slow response times when working with the program, I wish it was open source. Difficult to configure at the beginning, this problem should improve soon. Different prices, since you never know how much you pay for the service, but you are charged as you use the platform. Data loading sometimes very slow, some errors in backups, but everything is easily fixed.

**What problems is Amazon Aurora solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In our company we implemented the use of PostgreSQL to create, manage, and query relational databases considerable size, however we wanted a more powerful program to handle these functions, so Amazon Aurora appeared, taking advantage of the larger storage and more customized options, we managed to manage data more quickly and easily than with the above system, thanks to this we have been able to improve our services in the area of IT and IoT, as well as M2M solutions to provide better services to our customers, thanks to this software we have also been able to improve our existing security gaps and integrating with other AWS services is often an infallible tool to solve complex problems in the IT area.
