**What do you like best about Amazon Aurora?**

I like Amazon Aurora's performance, scalability, and reduced operational overhead compared to managing traditional databases manually. It provides a seamless blend of MySQL, Postgres, and SQL compatibility with cloud-native high availability and automation. I use it for production applications where uptime, scalability, and performance are critical. Aurora effectively handles transaction workloads and supports our back-end APIs and microservices, particularly in high availability database environments, which is crucial for our cloud-native application architecture on AWS.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Aurora?**

Costs can increase significantly for high scale production workloads. It is quite expensive for high scale production workloads, especially with replicas and storage growth. Troubleshooting performance bottlenecks in complex environments can also require deeper AWS expertise.

**What do you like best about Amazon Aurora?**

I like Amazon Aurora because it has less overhead in maintenance compared to regular RDS PG, which means there's less maintenance work for DBAs. The scalability is great, and its integration with other AWS services is seamless, so we need less interaction with infrastructure and less DBA work. Also, the initial setup was not too challenging.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Aurora?**

Amazon Aurora is too expensive. It's serverless, making it very hard to predict the cost increase. I suggest better dashboards.

**What problems is Amazon Aurora solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Amazon Aurora for maintaining PG databases with less overhead in maintenance compared to regular RDS PG. It provides scalability and integration with AWS services, which reduces the need for interaction with infrastructure and DBA work.

I like the seamless blend of open-source compatibility (PostgresSQL for my  case) with enterprise-level performance. The auto-scaling storage and built-in fault tolerance drastically reduce our operational overhead.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Aurora?**

The biggest downside is cost predictability. THe auto-scaling is convenient, I/O charges and storage costs can add up quickly and unexpectedle if you have poorly optimized queries. It is a premium service, making it overkill, and sometimes too expensive, for smaller, low traffic applications.

**What problems is Amazon Aurora solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The primary problem it solves for us is infrastructure management. Before Aurora, managing database replication, backups, and high availability look up way too much engineering time. By automating these tasks, it essentially removes the need for dedicated database administration. Our engineering team can focus 100% on shipping core product features rather than basbysitting database clusters.

One of the biggest problems we’ve been able to solve is achieving near-zero downtime for our applications. With features like automated failover, multi-AZ deployments, and continuous backups, we can ensure our services remain online and resilient even during maintenance or unexpected failures.

We also benefit significantly from multi-region replication, which allows us to improve performance for global users while maintaining data consistency and disaster recovery readiness. This level of redundancy is hard to achieve with traditional self-managed database setups and would typically require complex custom implementations.

Additionally, AWS's managed services reduce the overhead of tasks like patching, scaling, and monitoring, allowing our teams to focus more on development and less on infrastructure management. **What do you like best about Amazon Aurora?**

Aurora provides us with much better performance speed than a normal traditional database. It also provides continuous automated backups in s3 without halting the live functionality of the application in the real world. 
As Aurora is a managed service it becomes very easy to deploy within a few minutes.
Aurora also provides seamless integration with many AWS services for AI/ML like bedrock and Amazon SageMaker.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Aurora?**

One of the main issues we run into in Aurora is that you need to keep your database in constant auto-scaling but temporary storage is local to a computing instance and depends on its class. So if your ALTER statement requires lots of temporary space to rebuild table/index, it may fail because of insufficient local storage.

One of the other disadvantages is that we can't use the SUPER mysql command, as that is blocked.

**What problems is Amazon Aurora solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our old  traditional database scales poorly against high volumes of data and heavy loads of transactions. 
So, amazon auora help us in solving these two problem by providing low latency read replica and autoscaling to handle our heavy traffic based on the scenario.
It also provide cross region disaster recovery option so we can provide our customers with seamless experience in term of any mishappening.

What I love best about Amazon Aurora is its performance and scalability. In a world, where NoSQL Databases are high in the competition, Aurora matches them with impressive performance and scalability features. The best part is that when all these features are automated with no manual intervention, Aurora replicates across multiple availability zones seamlessly.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Aurora?**

I felt that the pricing structure could be affordable. For large-scale projects I worked on, the pricing seems neat. This is not the case with small-scale projects. The replication and storage needs are unpredictable, as they alter on demand. Also, few database configurations are immutable, providing less flexibility than expected and not providing a complete user experience.

Amazon Aurora solves the problem of performance, scalability and manual setup for relational databases. To set up a relational database, we need to configure a lot of settings, metadata which Aurora completely automates. The performance is also enhanced internally as Aurora uses sharding techniques to distribute loads equally. Multi-zone replication and scalability solves the issues of failover and disaster recovery for large-scale systems, providing the best customer experience.

I am mostly like multiple things into this services for example available tea and durability, user experience, cost consideration scale ability.
Its PostgreSQL, MySQL, and DSQL fearurs are very good in onrganization for managing the databases.
It is very ease of use and implementation process is good. Its customer support is very good.
Data integration is one of the best thing.

Amazon Aurora has a few drawbacks worth noting. Its cost can be higher than traditional databases, which may deter smaller budgets. 

The initial setup might feel complex for AWS newcomers but not for me, and heavy reliance on the service could lead to vendor lock-in, complicating future transitions. Nonetheless, it remains a powerful choice for many applications.

One downside I've noticed with the Amazon Aura is that the battery life, while okay, tends to drain faster with heavy use, which means you might find yourself charging it more often than you'd like. And while the Alexa integration is great for many, it might not sit well with those who prefer to keep things more private and minimize voice assistant interactions. **What do you like best about Amazon Aurora?**

I used Amazon Aurora in my previous organization as an alternative to our on-premise MySQL. The best things about this service are that you only pay for the resources you use, you can bring down the DB servers when you don't need them, which we used for our Dev and QA servers, and scalability is an easy and cool feature. Creating duplicates is easy, as is writing and reading DB servers. It is easy to implement with existing applications, if you are using a DB framework then usually just changing the configuration does your task. It has really good Customer Support which we use sometimes if encounter any issues.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Aurora?**

In my experiece, I didn't encounter anything which I didn't like. However, it can be sometimes more costly than on-premise DB and requires a learning curve from an administrator perspective. There could be some limitations in the features as it is a Saas compared to servers self-deployed on-premise DB.

It helped in scalability, ease of integration and requires no maintenance. It also insured security which was an hassle in on-premise server.

**What do you like best about Amazon Aurora?**

The perfect feature in the Amazon Aurora that is most appealing to me is that it has high scalability alongside high performance. Support for MySQL and PostgreSQL makes the Aurora easy to deploy in the existing applications, and its automatic backup and recovery features are very useful in ensuring data integrity. The ability, in addition, to scale out or in resources as per demand also makes it attractive for such workloads which are highly variable in nature.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Aurora?**

One thing I dislike about Amazon Aurora is all of the things that it comes with; for instance, the cloud is easy to manage but the learning is a bit long. I also found it difficult at the beginning to set up the database and configure permissions. In addition to that, while most advanced customizations which are supported by customers’ insensitive and Aurora is highly scalable, there are some constraints that may not allow customized requirements that touch on some very advanced application development.

Amazon Aurora addresses the most critical issues in database management including performance bottleneck scores, scalability concerns, and maintenance of high-availability solutions. It incorporates high-performance storage and organizes its data in such a way that replication can be done automatically across different availability zones which boosts the read and write speed of the storage while guaranteeing the durability and availability of that data. This is especially useful in scenarios that call for rapid responses from users while also having a very limited time to recover from unavailability. Moreover, the automatic backups and point in time recovery of data at Aurora have alleviated the problem of loss of data as well as the excessive need for people to do things manually. These aspects enable us to develop further our applications and not so much take care of the database infrastructure which naturally leads to time and cost saving.

As a software developer, I like Amazon Aurora because of its architecture and use of SQL for queries. When we want to scale up things, Aurora will only replicate the nodes instead of replicating the entire system. This also decreases the time of replication as well as helping to quickly recover from crashes, and the cost of Aurora is also cheaper than RDS. This all has advantages that attract me to choose Aurora on behalf of RDS.

One thing that made me sad is that Aurora does not support multiple SQL vendors, whereas RDS is suitable for this. If you are a startup or big company working with things like MySQL and PostgreSQL, you can go with Aurora for higher performance, as it's the best choice. If you are working with other than these vendors, then Aurora can't help you out.

**What do you like best about Amazon Aurora?**

The impressive performance and scalability of this database as a fully managed RDS cannot be overlooked, considering how easy the UI is. It helps avoid unpredictable loads as it offers auto-scaling features for compute and storage resources. In addition, it works well with other AWS services, which makes it very convenient to use for companies that already use the AWS infrastructure.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Aurora?**

The pricing model can get complicated and might also be costly for small workloads or Organizations that are beginning their operations/activities. It may seem a little intimidating to the teams who are moving from such basic database solutions, as it will require some getting used to before they can optimize the costs and performance.

**What problems is Amazon Aurora solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Aurora provides up to multiple time the throughput of standard MySQL and PostgreSQL, Its faster query processing and improved our application responsiveness noticeably.

**What do you like best about Amazon Aurora?**

It is an offering by AWS and it supports both mysql and postgresql. We can have upto 15 replicas (reader instances). It's high availability and ease of scaling is one of the good features. We can bring up an amazon aurora instance in no time. Give extra features such as IAM DB authentication for password protection. Integrate natively with aws services.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Aurora?**

The pricing is a little high. A small size company cannot afford it specially where data increases exponentially and it needs a bigger size instance like r3.*xlarge for the computation

It is an amazon own rdbms which offers high availablity and premium services in the RDBMS space.

I've use this in few projects, and it's been a game-changer. The performance boost compared to standard MySQL and PostgreSQL is impressive, and I love how it automatically scales with demand. The automated backups and multi-AZ replication give me peace of mind about data reliability. Although it's a bit pricier, the ease of management and robust features make it well worth the investment. It's perfect for high-traffic applications where uptime and speed are crucial.
Ease of Use: Amazon Aurora is fully managed, meaning that AWS handles routine database tasks such as provisioning, patching, backup, recovery, and repair.

**What do you dislike about Amazon Aurora?**

While I appreciate Amazon Aurora's performance and scalability, there are a few drawbacks. The cost can add up, especially for smaller projects or when resources aren't fully utilized. Additionally, being locked into the AWS ecosystem can be limiting if you're looking for a multi-cloud strategy.

Amazon Aurora is a suitable choice for your needs, especially when it comes to handling large data sets with complex SQL queries for reporting purposes without the need to manage RDS infrastructure.

I/O Cost is higher than expected. Sometimes i switched to cockroach or rocksdb for this

It actually very useful for unpredictable loads over db. Also if db query devs are poor i mean if their skill of writing efficient query is poor then aurora can be a great solve because it can scale based on the need.
