Altruist is a fantastic platform for small, growing RIAs. **Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Nick B. | Managing Member, Bormann Wealth Management LLC, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** August 01, 2025 **What do you like best about Altruist?** I got started with Altruist around the end of 2021, when I took my advisory practice independent and left the hybrid BD/RIA platform that I had been serving clients through previously. Altruist has gained a lot of new capabilities in the time since then but I've always been steadily impressed with their quality of support for advisors and the pace they've rolled out new features. As a vertically-integrated tech stack, Altruist substitutes for multiple other software tools which would have been impractical for me to use as I was starting up my own practice. They also have convenient back-end integrations with other advisor technologies, so it can be very open-ended. I came to Altruist having very little prior software tech stack, but I can also see how a larger practice could still integrate the tools they liked and keep using them. Altruist's software saves me a ton of time and makes it easy to automate various aspects of practice management. There's a lot less drudgery involved with account opening, transfering, rebalancing, and so on - the sort of activities that drain time away from my main focus which is keeping up with the needs of my clients. **What do you dislike about Altruist?** Altruist is a relatively younger company and so its brand is not as well known as the bigger players in the advisor-custodian space. **What problems is Altruist solving and how is that benefiting you?** It's an integrated technology platform that includes billing, rebalancing, and custody services for clients. The total cost of use is much lower than other competing platforms with very little compromise on the features that I care about. ### 2. Opting out of Legacy Advice with help from Altruist **Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Skee O. | Founder, Lead Advisor, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** September 04, 2025 **What do you like best about Altruist?** All-in-one custodian and portfolio management, easy account opening and transfer processes, very high-quality support, clean look and feel, advisor-focused and constantly seeking improvement, don't have to question their intentions or wonder if they're going to stab me in the back **What do you dislike about Altruist?** There have been a very few circumstances of technical trouble which has always been resolved quickly by support **What problems is Altruist solving and how is that benefiting you?** Over my career, onboarding new clients has always been a major pain which should easily be solved by modern technology. Altruist does that. Instead of having a large team of operations staff, I can do most of those tasks by myself using new technology.
