I can't say much of Altair SimSolid since I haven't had the opportunity to work with it. But for the last 6years I have been using Altair Hypermesh (formerly known as HyperWorks) and I can honestly say that is now my favorite FEA preprocessor. I am an avid FEA tool user (Ansys, Abaqus, LsDyna, etc...) and this is ALWAYS my favorite pre-processor. The old GUI complexity and ambiguity is gone. And the people at Altair are doing an amazing job integrating all the perks and tools of the old Hypermesh. It is not perfect and sometimes buggy, BUT still it is the best tool for FEA I have used in my 20+years of simulation experience. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. Altair SimSolid is a powerful structural analysis tool that skips the usual headaches of CAD and meshing letting engineers test their designs much faster. It can handle large complex CAD assemblies with thousands of parts and still deliver accurate results for things like static, modal, buckling, thermal, and fatigue analysis. Its biggest strength is speed scenarios can be checked in just minutes making it great for early design and quick decision-making. That said, while it’s highly reliable for design iterations, it’s not meant to fully replace detailed FEA when it comes to final certification or very specialized material-level studies.
