The new UI (rolled out around 2023) takes a bit of adjustment, but it's a clear improvement in usability and layout. Altair's customer support is excellent, with a deep knowledge base and quick responses on the forums. Automation is a major strength—every action can be scripted using TCL, and the command history makes it easy to build custom tools or batch processes. The software also offers solid capabilities for composites, nonlinear analyses, and various types of optimization. Composites modeling in Hypermesh is clunky—I rely on Laminate Tools to build layups more efficiently. Some tools are buried in menus and can be difficult to find, even with the updated UI. Error messages are sometimes vague, requiring manual digging through logs or trial-and-error to identify the problem. Considerable effort has been put in making the old school interface much more userfriendly. Hypermesh is indeed getting much more accessible to new users, and is getting much more efficient on automatic tasks (for instance batchmesher or connectors).

All new users i met have always been lost in all the functionalities, making Hypermesh not the easiest pre/post software to learn. Indeed, the learning curve is steep at first, definitely not the most straight forward.
