**What do you like best about Altair Hypermesh?**

It easily blends with LS DYNA. Performance could be better if allows a good automatic mesh. Pricing might be better when global orders are chosen. ALTAIR support has always been very good and quick. I have not yet used its AI/ Intelligent feature, will have to check and see. UI is okay, though 2021 version was much better. We sincerely need training on 2025/2026 ALTAIR HYPERMESH UI.

**What do you dislike about Altair Hypermesh?**

Automatic meshes are poor. New UI is very complex and is not very friendly, first we need to have a good training on the same and then we may start using it in a best way possible.

We are using it to pre-process the seatbelt components.

Physics AI stands out as engineering AI tool and I would say it offers class leading tech in a user friendly manner . I use Design Space and Design Explorer mainly to create a design space for topology and to run DoE studies. The workflows are user-friendly and very efficient for engineering purposes.

**What do you dislike about Altair Hypermesh?**

The morphing in Hypermesh could be better; it isn’t as fast as the competition. It would help to add more features to make it more user-friendly and efficient.

Creating engineering AI models , set up for topology optimization and running DoE studies helping us making faster decision making to come up with efficient designs .

Meshing in Altair is made much easier with Altair's tools for editing different parts of the mesh.

Instead of creating a midsurface it now creates a midmesh which can get distorted from the geometry.

I like that Altair Hypermesh is a powerful tool embedded inside the Altair ecosystem. I appreciate the easy connection to other Altair products, as it means I don't have to leave the ecosystem and can share licenses.

**What do you dislike about Altair Hypermesh?**

HyperMesh is a 2nd development up Python, and the response speed of GUI is slower than betaCAe.

I use Altair Hypermesh for optimization, linear, and nonlinear analysis, and it integrates well within the Altair ecosystem with easy connectivity to other products and shared licenses.

general:
-a lot of freedom in modifying the geometry creating a mesh suited to specific requirements
- possibility to have the mesh attached to the cad surface; this makes a local remesh or a local geometry modification easier to implement
- easy to organize model with assemblies and components
- lots of options of personalization
- customer support is very good. fast and helpful replies, possibility to schedule meetings and trainings
- possibility to generate inputs for lots of different solvers
- interface has nice design and is more intuitive for new users compared to the old interface

compared to Hypermesh 2017
-faster autocleanup
-automatic feature detection  (e.g. fillets of a certain radius)
-keyboard commands

**What do you dislike about Altair Hypermesh?**

general:
- it would be great to have more refined mesh controls in simlab style 
- the autocleanup for big components still needs a lot of manual cleanup by the user, to avoid bad element qualities (like close lines etc.)
- small inconsistencies: e.g. sometimes it is necessary to hold "crtl" to select more surfaces, other times it is not necessary
- small bugs: e.g. when the user enters in the element quality visualization the keyboard commands stop to work and hypermesh must be restarted... very annoying 

compared to Hypermesh 2017:
- element quality check was a separate menu option, not only a visualization option
- modification of the mesh (freeform-interactive) was faster, more responsive and better in general
- set segments definition  (like contact surfaces) in abaqus interface on HM17:
     - could be defined on 2d or 3d mesh, it did not matter; 
     - they could also be deleted and reorganized like elements; 
     - the could be unmasked with the option "unmask adicient";
     - definition of set segments was generally much faster than in HM24
     -> all these features are relevant in a simple, small model, but in a big model they are very useful
- "unmask adicient" command seems to be missing
- measure option in a local coordinate system seems to be missing

**What do you like best about Altair Hypermesh?**

Having worked with numerous software platforms, I consistently prefer HyperMesh for meshing tasks.

1. The user interface is exceptionally intuitive, complemented by comprehensive and well-structured tutorials that facilitate a smooth learning curve.

2. HyperMesh offers robust and user-friendly geometry cleanup tools, making it effortless to prepare even the most complex geometries for analysis.

3. The software excels at meshing intricate parts, delivering outstanding performance with tetrahedral meshes and demonstrating remarkable capabilities with hexahedral meshing.

4. The morphing functionality is both powerful and highly practical, significantly enhancing modeling flexibility.
I have frequently utilized HyperMesh for component optimization, and each experience has been both productive and insightful.

5. The ability to customize workflows using TCL scripting has greatly improved efficiency, allowing for tailored solutions to specific user requirements.

Overall, my experience with HyperMesh has been extremely positive. It stands out as a highly capable and versatile tool in the field of finite element analysis.

**What do you dislike about Altair Hypermesh?**

While HyperMesh offers many strengths, I have encountered some areas where the software could be improved:

1. With each new release, certain highly useful features are sometimes removed, which can make the user experience more challenging. For instance, in versions 17 and 19, users could easily toggle the "keep mesh" option from "advanced mesh"  by pressing "o" during meshing. However, this convenient functionality was removed in version 2021, and similar changes have occurred in versions 23 and 25.

2. Although customer support is often excellent, there are occasions when the standard recommendation is simply to upgrade to a newer version or to modify the geometry, rather than providing a more targeted solution.

3. It appears that some algorithms have changed in recent versions. For example, I created and meshed the same geometry in both version 2017 and version 2021. In the 2021 version, more elements failed quality checks and a higher number of nodes were generated, whereas in the 2017 version, only a single element failed with less number of nodes.

4.The transition from versions 2017/2021 to version 2025 has been particularly challenging. As a result, I continue to rely on the older versions for my work.

Overall, I believe there is significant room for improvement in these areas to enhance the user experience and maintain the software’s high standards.

For every project, we consistently begin with meshing in Altair HyperMesh. Only after establishing a high-quality mesh do we proceed to utilize various solvers tailored to specific application requirements. This workflow ensures a robust foundation for accurate and reliable simulation results.

**What do you like best about Altair Hypermesh?**

HyperMesh was one of the main tools I used during my research project at Ford and I’ve had a really positive experience with it so far. It is packed with powerful features, especially for pre-processing. Setting up 3D meshes and optimization cases became a lot more intuitive after some hands-on time. I have also been using Design Explorer frequently for DOE and optimization studies, which has helped a lot. I really appreciated the Altair Learning platform. The training content was very helpful and well structured, especially for someone who is still learning and developing in the CAE field. The support team was also great. They were always patient and willing to help, offering meetings, sending reference models and even assisting with debugging when I ran into problems.

**What do you dislike about Altair Hypermesh?**

I had some issues in the beginning, mostly related to installation and compatibility with my company OneDrive system. The software initially struggled to locate solvers and open files stored on my company’s drive, which caused some delays. After some adjustments these problems were solved. I have also shared some suggestions with the team to improve the Generative Design tool, especially to allow it to run on more than 32 threads to speed up the simulation process.

Altair HyperMesh is helping us address the need for faster and more reliable virtual validation in the product development cycle. As part of the innovation team, I use it to run linear static analyses, topology optimization, and DOE studies. This allows us to explore new design concepts early in the process, reduce prototyping costs, and accelerate decision-making with data-driven insights.

**What do you like best about Altair Hypermesh?**

As can be inferred from the title of my review, the meshing engine of Altair Hypermesh is the best on the market today. I am a regular user of this and other similar software from competitors, and without a doubt, the meshing is not only consistent but also stands out for the ease of carrying out a good mesh. 
On the other hand, it is noteworthy that, in case of any doubt, the customer support service will be there to help you in record time.

**What do you dislike about Altair Hypermesh?**

If I have to point out a flaw in Altair, it's the small step remaining for the full integration of all the utilities from the old interface to the new one, which is much more intuitive but in my opinion, there are still some steps missing for its complete integration.

**What problems is Altair Hypermesh solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In my case, the work I perform on a daily basis is closely linked to R&D. Therefore, iterative processes until reaching the solution or prototype are commonplace. Altair perfectly solves this issue for me by accelerating the testing times of different concepts to thus reach a prototype with a robust and reliable solution. The economic and time savings are extremely high.

**What do you like best about Altair Hypermesh?**

Considerable effort has been put in making the old school interface much more userfriendly. Hypermesh is indeed getting much more accessible to new users, and is getting much more efficient on automatic tasks (for instance batchmesher or connectors). 
But the most important point is the use of custom scripts, i can then make it fit perfectly my workflow or complete repetitive tasks automatically, making me save thousands of clicks each day. This possibility makes all the difference.

**What do you dislike about Altair Hypermesh?**

All new users i met have always been lost in all the functionalities, making Hypermesh not the easiest pre/post software to learn. Indeed, the learning curve is steep at first, definitely not the most straight forward. Even after using it for more than 10 years, there are still lots of functions and modules which i have never tried, or even never heard about.

**What problems is Altair Hypermesh solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I run crash simulations, using Hyperworks as the pre/post processing softwares. Compared to other softwares, Hypermesh is much more general, multipurpose and efficient in most of the tasks, as soon as you finally understand how it is intended to work.

Compared to the counterparts like Ansys and Abaqus, it is easier to locally modify mesh using Hypermesh. There are so many nuanced feature to take good control of mesh of complex features.
Customer support is good. 
Integration of large assembly models are easier.
Ease of implementation is good.
It can be used quite frequently.

Like most of engineering applications the steep learning curve for beginners can be challenging, and the software can be resource-intensive, requiring significant computational power for large-scale simulations. You need a good high end machine to use it smoothly.

Altair Hypermesh helps handle the challenge of developing accurate and efficient meshes for complicated geometries, which improves overall product quality, reduces time-to-market, and increases simulation accuracy. **What do you like best about Altair Hypermesh?**

The new HyperWorks interface is user-friendly, with icons that are simple to interpret and facilitate navigation. It is also now simpler to clean geometries and quickly mesh them for analysis and smooth operation because there is no longer a requirement to continuously click the CTRL button while panning and turning the geometry. HyperWorks is frequently utilised in our department for meshing, which facilitates and expedites work.

**What do you dislike about Altair Hypermesh?**

Some aspects are less understandable, and others, like patches and the extended surface, don't function as well as they should.
Some crashes with the updated version happen when complex geometry is used.

Compared to other applications, it is now one of the greatest pre-processing solutions available on the market.
Numerous cutting-edge meshing choices and features are included, and automation support has also been introduced to the hypermesh.

Altair Hypermesh offers a complete range of tools for preparing, bringing in, and handling simulation models, such as mesh creation, model configuration, result analysis, and more

This is expensive software, particularly for individual users. Also, this software is incompatible with the older operating system and requires a large amount of memory and a high-end graphics card.

Altair Hypermesh benefits me in a lot of ways they are,
1. Improved simulation accuracy
2. Increased productivity
3. Better design optimization and

Hypermesh is economical in terms of cost compared to its peer ANSA. Hypermesh is integrating new features into its interface.

It has number of bugs. Sometimes session gets crashed without allowing to save crash file. In each new release of Hpermesh new issues are seen.

I am using Hypermesh for mainly for meshing & preparing crash models in Radioss, Lsdyna & Pamcrash deck. Using Hyperview for post-processing of results. Yes, performance is improved.

**What do you like best about Altair Hypermesh?**

The matter that Hypermesh can work as a preprocessor for so many solvers is really amazing. I personally use it as a pre-processor as a CAE Modeller for defining constraints and boundary conditions and then use that file with any other software solver.

**What do you dislike about Altair Hypermesh?**

The user interface is not very user friendly but the tab layout is thought through before assigning the location and makes the software a little easier to use for new CAE Modellers.

**Recommendations to others considering Altair Hypermesh:**

A really good tool for starters. can help you open up to a wide variety of FEA packages and position you probably in the centre.

**What problems is Altair Hypermesh solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Hypermesh to describe simulation constraints in order to solve the file in any other solver such as Ansys, Ls-Dyna, Radioss etc. Basically, you do not need to learn all other software even if you want to use their solver machines but Hypermesh does it for you.

The great intorperability between CAD and Hypermesh is really appreciated, as per the definition of composite material. The automatic generating mesh is also really good, with an improvement over the year for all the use.
