The software features GPU utilization for running simulations, making the heavy DEM simulation possible. Additionally, it has a user-friendly interface, which helps unfamiliar new users with the DEM method. Another very interesting point is the help material provided by Altair, the company responsible for EDEM. The educational material is quite comprehensive, with many tutorials and insights. Because of this, the number of files saved at each time step is excessively large and takes up a lot of space on the hard drive. I'm using EDEM in my master's in agricultural engineering, where I'm studyng the efficiency of a coffee cleaner.
