We tried OKRs a few times in the past and it failed. Having a tool like Ally.io this time around is making all the difference. A lot more makes sense to us and we're able to see how various objectives and key results are aligned throughout the organisation. I am missing a better overview of all allignments within the company. Ally.io is so simple to use and requires little to no training. We were able to quickly add our company, department and team level OKRs and updates are a breeze using the Teams and Slack integrations. The dashboard and drill down functions provide a level of visibility we haven't had before and it is easy to share with all of the teams and leaders. **What do you dislike about Ally.io?** I wish the chart view maintained the full hierarchy from the top level selected and collapsed the boxes down more to show the full top to bottom view. **What problems is Ally.io solving and how is that benefiting you?** Having a tool with automated notifications for check-ins and built in reporting has been a huge time saver for us. The process was super fast, extremely responsive, and always open and flexible to our needs. Both, the sales and customer service teams were amazing to work with. The training session was great! My team was very involved, Ally's team took some examples of previous OKRs we had in our org, they provided feedback and by making it more personal, it helped us understand way better our areas of opportunity. In the end, they immediately shared a lot of content about the training, the recording, and additional resources. This tool helps our team a lot to track teams and individual OKR. Very focused and minimal view of the relevant Data. It allows a user to create an individual / personal goal—a short time to set up. The support has been excellent if there were questions to answer during implementation and training. It gives us timely feedback and trackable within the whole organization. It is also great that this tool integrates with the softwares that we are using right now. Price suits its features. I also like that they add a quick start guide in the app. **What do you dislike about Ally.io?** We have not found any cons so far. Didn't face any issues. I think they've done a good job. The software allows you to go straight to the point. Spending no more than 5 mins a day, we can track where we were. We sometimes do a trivial task, and we need to conduct a lot of meetings to check in with the team and update our heads on our task or project progress. I have to say Ally.io made it quite a bit easier for us to learn OKR. Our team is now more focused and faster / flexible when there are changes in projects. Reduces our time to follow up and conduct team meetings. And each team is more in sync with each other. I also like the interface of the app. It's user-friendly and it's really easy to understand. We know that OKRs are not really known to most, but using Ally, it allows us to figure out how OKRs works and appreciate it more. **What do you dislike about Ally.io?** There are times that it takes ages to load and when you add objectives or key results, it doesn't normally reflect. I also need to click on Edit whenever I need to add KPI instead of just having it shown when you click on the objective or key result. The interface is a bit compact. Given that we are a start-up company, it's really best to set objectives and key results to help the team clearly know what we want to achieve and plan accordingly. Ease of use when it comes to checking-in on the Key results. Customer Support also responds quick. I also like how they calculate the progress versus the expected for each Key Result. It is also very easy for me to change/switch from my Own OKRs to our Company's Objective. Overall, it is okay for us users. **What do you dislike about Ally.io?** Needs a little improvement in terms of UI. It is sometimes difficult to drag around the key results to other parent Key Results. I suggest they should also have a tab for reports, where you can download charts or files showing the status of the Key Results since it's hard to dig deeper into the results just to see the progress (too many clicks) probably breaks the rules of OKRs but sometimes we have to do it and sometimes, colleagues doesn't have the time to go to each of our OKRs. I also saw another software that offers almost the same features but for free, UI however is worse. Maybe they can lower their pricing since we only use the software for OKRs nothing more. **Recommendations to others considering Ally.io:** Educate yourself more about OKRs, watch YouTube videos in terms of how to implement. Instead of doing your OKRs manually, it's better to use a software like Ally. The team objectives are the second best thing which I like more. And at last, check-in using the different metrics are the fruits to the table. **What do you dislike about Ally.io?** The multiple levels of the Key Results is sometimes confusing and may lead to less informative since we have to go to the new view to see the key results at level 4 or 5. **Recommendations to others considering Ally.io:** Ally is nice one when you have a clear view of OKR(s). like if you have some Objectives and at max 2-3 levels of key results. Go with this tool if you have self motivated and strong team which is more towards the result, basically result-oriented as we have. A small team can perform well using this software. Your objectives are well aligned through Objectives features. The key result related to the objectives are specific so that the metrics will be of more generic. I used so many metrics using this software like, % (percentage) completed, no. of features developed, no. of stories executed. One more thing, if you are working on the goals for the quarter basis, this is nice way to handle the scenario. Even if you can update the dates for the objective or key result to a specific dates, it is best to use this as the quarter objective and key result. **What problems is Ally.io solving and how is that benefiting you?** Keep the Objectives in tact while going through a quarter. Was able to take it to the team without much trainings. - Can definitely be considered as one of the modern SaaS tool. - Real time notifications through channels such as slack was helpful to understand the checkins being done and hence the progress. - Option to align the KRs with other people in the organisation so that the goal can be achieved within the stipulated time - Hierarchical objectives is really helpful to align our thoughts and goals in a specific quarter - Specific inline insights when we define more KRs against an objective is the good example of inline validation and education in the modern SaaS world. - Ability to weigh the objectives and KRs. Not all objectives can be given equal weightage. Their system is easy... it makes sense! From both a user stand point, as well as an admin standpoint Ally is extremely user friendly. In addition, Ally is very responsive and open to ideas for improvements from their customers. Both our company President and myself have reached out to Ally and not only received quick feedback from Ally's support team but also have had our recommendations implemented on Ally, site wide making a greater experience for all. It feels good to be part of the further development of an extremely helpful business tool. **What do you dislike about Ally.io?** On occasion Ally will make updates to the look of their site that perhaps aren't my favorite, but like any other technology, users quickly learn to adapt to. There has yet to be a single update that I wasn't willing to work with. Another great recommendation for Ally would be to continue linking to additional external websites. I would personally like Ally to link directly with our Learning Management System. Whether we are tracking sales goals/ numbers throughout the quarter or working our way through monthly, quarterly, or year long projects with individuals across teams, Ally has been a great partner. It is so simple, and incredibly intuitive. **What do you dislike about Ally.io?** The only thing that I've had a hard time with Ally is keeping track of other team's goals, and searching for specific goals within the platform. Not only is software great in long term, but the process itself encouraged great discussion. Integrations are very useful and the tool is flexible based on user preferences. Clean UX and snapshot is easily found. **What do you dislike about Ally.io?** The training and roll out for a large department is quite detailed and there are nuances to ensure flow makes sense. Some workarounds and best practices are needed to be defined to ensure all users using in similar manner. **What problems is Ally.io solving and how is that benefiting you?** Historically departments tended to work in silos and share progress via decks/meetings, hours are wasted on "check-ins". Where there were dependencies, roadblocks and delays needed to be manually called out causing broken telephone or misunderstandings. We switch from a competitor earlier this year and it has been an eye-opening experience. Ally's application (web and mobile) nicely facilitates our OKR processes without getting in the way and their team has been available every step of the way to make sure our migration went smoothly and that our organization is using their tools effectively. **What do you dislike about Ally.io?** The only downside to us adopting Ally is that we didn't do it sooner. Their tools are excellent, their people and support have been amazing and they have been very accommodating with everything we've asked for. As a regular user, there are a few feature requests that I would like to see - for example, allowing teams to describe themselves in more detail, to share how they fit into the overall context of the work of the organization and showcase their progress - almost like a team dashboard or a team homepage that the entire organization can see. They've been very receptive to our feature requests, and even in the early days, custom integrations and process improvements have shown up quickly. They are very customer-centric and it is hard to find negative aspects to criticize. **What problems is Ally.io solving and how is that benefiting you?** Ally is an OKR tool that facilitates our OKR process without trying to enforce a particular OKR viewpoint. We work with multiple different platforms (Salesforce, Hubspot, Tableau, Bamboo, Office 365) so we needed somewhere to collate all data points and help our employees understand how they're progressing against company and team wide OKRs. Employees can now see how they're progressing against their individual goals, team goals and company goals and with the Project feature these can now be aligned with input from JIRA which is also a great value add. I also like how responsive their Customer Success team is. I've had numerous sessions with their account manager who is above patient, helpful and willing to support where needed. This has also helped with the transition to OKRs. I particularly like the DEMO account where employees are able to get a perspective of what multiple active OKRs look like in a dummy account - this is very insightful Overall we are very happy with Ally and are excited with the upcoming Performance Management features which will hopefully add a lot of value for our employees. **What do you dislike about Ally.io?** Right now I don't have any major dislikes or concerns - we are in the process of rolling out Ally to our wider team so there will probably be some issues as employees get upto speed with the platform but this will be more on us than Ally. One thing I have observed is the UI has been gradually improving and this was tweaked again recently. I don't mean to be harsh, but the reality is that they all perform the same functions with little variety, mainly achieved through the UI. This UI doesn't have any problems, but neither does it stand out as anything special. I suppose the best thing I can say about it is that it works, seemingly without bugs, and doesn't hassle me. The chat assist feature usually doesn't get reviewed for hours on end. They recommended that I schedule a meeting with tech support for something that was not a bug, and tech support didn't even call me for that meeting. The iconography and colors are helpful in determining what you are looking at, and the many different available views has potential to be quite useful (for managers tracking direct reports, for example). The Slack integration is great for making it easy to check in. Our customer success manager is helpful, generous with time, and no question is a dumb question. **What do you dislike about Ally.io?** The disconnect between Ally training materials' distinction between O/KR traits and the software's support of the duality model (org O -> org KR -> team KR -> individual/sub KR) with no explicit support for the flexible model (org O -> org KR -> team O-> team KR -> etc) is perplexing. Either stick to a distinction between Os and KRs and don't let them ever be the same thing, or rephrase the distinction to match the structure the software supports.
