As a contributor on Alamy, what I like best is that it is one of the most authentic and strict stock photography platforms. It focuses mainly on real, original images rather than heavily edited or artificially created visuals. Contributors cannot upload over-edited or mobile-filtered images, which helps maintain high-quality standards across the platform. I also like that it encourages real photography images captured in real-life situations rather than staged or manipulated content. This makes it a more professional and trustworthy marketplace for genuine stock images. For me as a contributor, it feels like a platform where quality and originality matter the most, which also helps my real photography get better visibility and value. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about Alamy? One thing I find challenging about Alamy is the QC (quality check) process. Sometimes even good quality images that easily pass on other stock platforms get rejected or flagged here. The approval process feels more strict and less predictable compared to other websites like Shutterstock. Also, even after approval, the “full green” status doesn’t always feel very consistent or reassuring, even when everything seems correct. It sometimes creates uncertainty for contributors about whether the image will perform or be fully accepted without issues. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What problems is Alamy solving and how is that benefiting you? As a contributor on Alamy, I feel it solves a major problem for photographers who want a professional platform to sell genuine, unedited stock images. Unlike many other stock websites, Alamy mainly focuses on real photography images directly captured from the camera without heavy editing or manipulation. This helps maintain authenticity and gives value to real photographers. For me, it’s beneficial because it offers a high paying stock image marketplace where quality work can earn good revenue. If the image is genuinely good and meets the guidelines, it usually passes QC and gets accepted for sale, which creates a strong earning opportunity. However, it also requires careful attention to guidelines and terms because the platform is quite strict compared to others. Understanding their rules properly is important, but once you adapt, it becomes a very reliable source of income for photographers who upload original, real world shots. When sending an upload of images your entire batch could be disqualified due to one image having an issue. They don't tell you which one and it disqualifies the whole batch...huge waste of time. We good awesome value for the money. The prices are low enough that we can acquire many professional media files for use in many types of internal and public-facing business materials. The website is easy to use to find, buy and download photos. We don't have to interact with an actual person though support team members are readily available. You have to contact them to close your contributor account and they just ignore you and don't respond. I don't know what to do any more and will have to waste my time and money hiring a lawyer just to do something as simple as shutting my account. Absolutely pathetic. That is the sheer number of photos that come up when you type in a simple search phrase. I like having so many options to choose from, but it can take a great deal of time. As I stated it's time-consuming to search through so many pages and pages of photos when you type in a search term.
