  ### 1. Robust Scheduling, But an Antiquated, Limited UI Makes Expansion Tough

**What do you like best about Aladtec by TCP?**

The most useful feature is the scheduling, which is robust, easy to use, and—thankfully—comes with solid reporting options. If you’re looking for a shift scheduling tool that’s straightforward to maintain once it’s set up, Aladtec is a good solution.

**What do you dislike about Aladtec by TCP?**

The entire platform looks like something out of the 90s, and the UI feels antiquated. File storage is clunky, and the forms are also clunky, limited, and frustrating to work with. Administration for almost any feature is challenging at best and nightmarish at worst. Each time we explored expanding our usage, we ran into product limits, dead ends, or potential security risks, which ultimately led us to abandon that approach and look for better solutions elsewhere. In the end, we rebuilt our intranet in SharePoint, moved file storage to SharePoint or Teams, and now rely on M365 for most of what this potentially promising—but grievously limited—tool is supposed to offer.

It is inexpensive. That's good. Their support is OK - depending on who you get. Performance is acceptable, but not especially good or bad, and given our usage was limited at its peak, we are probably not well positioned to comment on overall performance. There are no integrations that worked for industry tools - e.g., IamResponding, or other agency tools. As for modern features such as artificial intelligence? Not here!

**What do you like best about Aladtec by TCP?**

It is user friendly and is very flexible. It seems to work well for our needs.

**What do you dislike about Aladtec by TCP?**

I have not figured out how to change the number of hours it takes out of each off day/time. We work 24 hours a day, but our off time is figured on an 8 hour a day usage. So, I have to convert each off day, and it makes it harder for tracking time off. Also, if it had a way to track clock hours that was equal to FLSA rules it would be nice when it comes to pay roll.

It allows me to keep track of everyone's time off along with scheduling part-time employees to fill open positions.

**What do you like best about Aladtec by TCP?**

I like how Aladtec by TCP is very user-friendly and makes it easy for everyone in our organization to access their own schedules, even when we schedule overtime. It's very accessible to everyone, and all the reports, including truck checks, defect lists, and training reports, are accessible by all members effortlessly. I'm also very happy with the customer support. It's very targeted to the needs of our fire department, allowing us to easily develop our own forms and schedules, add new positions, and track vehicle defects. The initial setup was fairly easy, and we could develop many customized forms specific to our fire department right from the start.

**What do you dislike about Aladtec by TCP?**

In the hourly editor portion of our scheduler, events don't show up. We have to switch to a calendar view to get that. Not a big thing, but it would be nice to have that feature. Also, we have a rotating schedule that is very difficult to implement on a day-to-day basis when you have to factor in transfers. It would be nice if there were more options for changing someone's schedule versus just having to end their schedule and start a new one. Right now, the only thing that can be modified is the end date.

We use Aladtec by TCP for scheduling, forms, truck checks, and training reports. It simplifies our day-to-day activities, making schedules accessible and user-friendly for all members. It also lets us track vehicle defects and develop customized forms, meeting our fire department's needs.

I like Aladtec by TCP for its ease of use, which makes it straightforward to handle tasks. The paging feature is valuable as it allows me to communicate with my whole team effectively.

I feel like the paging system in Aladtec by TCP could be improved to support two-way chat. When pages are sent out to employees, it would be great if they could respond via message, and if the admin could view and reply if needed. Also, work group chats could be beneficial.

I use Aladtec by TCP for EMS/Dispatch Scheduling and Forms, solving issues like 24/7 shift scheduling, page outs, and PTO request tracking. This system eases communication and simplifies scheduling with its ease of use.

What I like best about Aladtec is that everything I need is all in one system. Birth dates, hire dates, driver’s license information, time off, and much more are all available in one place, which makes it easy to find what I’m looking for.

Everything about Aladtec is good. There isn't one thing I dislike about it. It's easy to get questions answered if I need help or need some explanation with the system.

**What do you like best about Aladtec by TCP?**

Aladtec has been a major improvement over our former scheduling software, which was actually just a printed calendar using a Microsoft Word document. Each time we made a change, we printed off another set of pages, which obviously created multiple versions of the schedule floating around, and led to people not always knowing when to work. One of my favorite features is the automated process for creating the next month's schedule. The program allows the user to create shift rotations, and once entered (which does take some manual entry time) it knows exactly how to fill the schedule for the next months and even years. That has been the biggest time-saver for me, as I would have to manually enter each person's name onto a new month's page, so basically starting over each time. Aladtec eliminated all of that. The program let's the admin enter benefit time calculations, so things like vacation time, comp time and sick time are all tracked and accounted for. It also keeps track of the hours that are accumulated over time, and what is available for each employee to use. That is another huge time saver, and eliminated trying to track those hours manually. Best of all, in my opinion, is that the employee is required to "sign-off" on their submitted time card, and they stipulate that what they have entered and read is factual and accurate. No more arguing about exactly how many vacation hours or sick time someone used; they just acknowledged it was correct as presented. There are many more time saving features, but those are my main winners. It is overall convenient, easy to use (once mastered)  and the customer support has been very responsive to my requests for clarification of a feature or a process.

**What do you dislike about Aladtec by TCP?**

The downside, and it isn't really a dislike at all, with Aladtec is to be expected I believe, and that is the somewhat steep learning curve to understand and master all of the nuances in the program. It is full of features and automation of what was once a manual job, so it is understandable that it takes a little time to get used to and become comfortable with the processes. Once that happens though, the "lightbulb goes on" in your head and it makes total sense. So don't be overwhelmed, take the time to understand those things, and let the support folks do what they do best, which is helping us learn how to use a fairly complex piece of software. It takes some time to set up, but that is well worth the effort because the more you put into it, the more you will get out of it. I would also like to see the mobile product improved and bring in more of the features that are available with the desktop version.

Mostly the automated benefit time database maintenance and the ease of creating the next month's schedule. Literally, hours have been saved every month with this software. Having more time available in an already hectic public-safety environment is always a win.

I like the easy access and quick response of Aladtec by TCP. It really limits the delay in getting things corrected, and having them respond right away and guide through the processes is very helpful. The initial setup was very easy, and they worked well with us to ensure all needs were handled, providing great access and easy-to-follow directions to make sure everything was set up properly.

Their Customer Support is by far the best in the business. I enjoy the products ease of use and being able to forgo manually updating repeating schedules, as it can be pushed out for several years.

There really isn't much to dislike at all. Perhaps being able to search and trouble shoot some of the features you've forgotten how to use would be helpful. Also, being a systems administrator for scheduling, it would be great if their mobile app allowed me to access my full teams schedule so I can use the app to give employees time off and then send out a shift alert for coverage, instead of having to go onto the web to do. Other than that, it really is an awesome product!

Allows users to schedule time off, overtime, and other things from anywhere in the world. Allows supervisors the ability to approve and review schedules, overtime, etc. anywhere and anytime.

**What do you dislike about Aladtec by TCP?**

One bug that has been brought up before: you CANNOT schedule overtime over a period of time you have previously taken off. This is a HUGE issue and has been brought to their attention a few times. Example: a user takes a half day that is approved in advance. The day comes, and they get stuck for whatever reason and get forced to stay. This is obviously overtime, but the system wont let you put it in because the user was previously scheduled to be off during that time block. Very annoying and requires us to get creative to work around it.

The best thing about Aladtec is the support. Every support person I have spopken with is fantastic.  It is clear they are not located in the USA, but they speak very clear and I have no issues communication with them.  They know the system and how to do what I am trying do, extremely helpful!

It is not a very intuitive system/user friendly.  Difficult to make changes and keep them over long periods of time.

I dislike the fact that I cannot give editing privileges to the published schedule if the unpublished schedule is being blocked from their eyes. I should be able to have the unpublished schedule blocked from view while still having them have editing privileges to the published schedule.

I don't know if it's because we are a huge department with over 300 people but the online version can be slow when I'm looking at schedules. I could probably toggle to get less people showing.

Best part was when we had 24 hour shift (just got rid of them) we had to use yall because our own hospital system Kronos just couldn't understand 24 hour shifts

I like that you can make the shcedule your own to fit whatever your need may be. If you can't figure it out, there's always someone at Aladtec waiting to help. Fantastic customer service in my opinioin.

I wish that it was more user friendly when inputting a reoccurring scheudle. I would also like to see Top level admin have more access. For example, we've had a couple cases where a form was accidently deleted and the only way we could get it back was to reach out to Aladtec. They got it back for usm which is fantastic. I just think Top Level Admin should be able to do the same thing for their orginization.

We have gone from so much paper, to storing most everything within Aladtec. This is HUGE and makes it so much easier to find.

By switching to TCP Aladtec, I was able to ditch the multiple excel sheets and google shared drives. It was easy to train the staff in the new system and they love it. Customer Support does not stop till they have tried everything to fix your concerns. The Ease of Intergration at the beginning of the year was better, than starting mid budget.

TCP Aladtec software is set up for their multiple suites. I have a combination department and my scheduling rules did not  line up 100% with the software. We were able to settle on a work around that I hope they will figure out in the future.

**What do you like best about Aladtec by TCP?**

Aladtec is user friendly. Its easy to implement new functions of use within the Agency.  Our entire staff uses Aladtec everyday. 

I like that it is a employee self-service portal,  for the following:

- employees can submit requests for time off
- employees can generate their own shift trades
- employees can get reminders of upcoming shifts
- employees can maintain their licenses, certifications and expiration dates
- forms can be made available for employees to do checks or submit tickets

I also like that there is a multitude of reports that can easily be generated, whether its related to time keeping, scheduling, Aladtec login records, or any other reports generated for forms that are company specific.  

When I hit a snaffu on a functionality issue, Customer Support helps me work it out in record time. 

No issues.

I don't have complaints about the product. None.

**What problems is Aladtec by TCP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Aladtec has been helpful in assisting me, when I have to change our schedule set up. I have never had to re-create the wheel, they have been able to take the current schedule and make the start and end of shift changes, without effecting what has already been input.

I was told we could create events and hire people for them but that doesn't seem to be the case. I've had to make a new "apparatus" to assign people and positions to before making this work. Customer Support has been great but are limited to answer what they know, not what we were told.

**What problems is Aladtec by TCP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It will hopefully solve our crew using several old spreadsheets to hire from and to allow us to see who is on duty several shifts ahead. It also allows our members to request time off and trades without coming to the office.

**What do you like best about Aladtec by TCP?**

The best thing about the the scheduling software is the versitility of the system. It tryly is an "all in one" system which allows you to schedule, process payroll, manage time, track time off and allow for sign up of events. We can even track what qualifications staff have along with who is working to ensure safety and compliance of staff. Customer support is easy to use and always available. They are willing to look into your problem. We also set up intigrations with other products to allow for ease of operation. Our staff is in the system daily and it is used for much more than scheduling. We use it for an all around department management. Overall implimentation was easy to set up and transition from another comapny.

**What do you dislike about Aladtec by TCP?**

Only thing i dislike about the system is the staffing section. I need it to manage one calendar/schedule at a time not thw whole schedule. Especially when checking for position qualifications of staffing.

It is assisting with our department to manage its personnel and staffing requirements to ensure we are in compliance with our union contract.

**What do you like best about Aladtec by TCP?**

So many features with TCP Aladtec.  We don't use anywhere near all of them and it is still a great value for our agency.

The drag and drop ability in the hourly editor is awesome.  Makes altering an employee's work hours within a single date so easy.

The ability to use so many features either on a computer or cell phone/tablet is very handy.

Emplyees swapping shifts by initiating in TCP Aladtec themselves is a time saver.

The system is very customizable as to different positions within our agency.

We have officers that rotate through 6 different 4-week schedules.  While TCP Aladtec has to set up the rotations, once shown how to make them rotate, scheduling an officer from scratch is fairly simple.

**What do you dislike about Aladtec by TCP?**

When logging in to work with the current dates or week, one has to scroll to the appropriate week in the calendar.  It would be beneficial that the calendaer immediately goes to the current dates.

When cancelling a time off request, one has to manually restore that employee's shift in the schedule.  It would be great if that employee's shift was immediately restored in the schedule upon the cancellation of the time off request.

I wish it connected with our payroll system, but that is produced by a differnet software company.

**What problems is Aladtec by TCP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our processs for requesting and granting vacation now takes a small fraction of the time it did previously.  

Employees can easily submit requests to trade shifts, allowing for quickly making those adjustments to accommodate their off-duty schedules.  This works great in that no longer needing to discuss these swaps with people wokring non-traditional hours makes it much faster for adminstration.

Prior to choosing TCP Aladtec we kept our entire department schedule on a paper calendar that got cluttered, beat up and difficult to read.  Having this program allows us to make adjustments without making hte mess and allows our staff to view their schedules from anywhere on their computers or mobile devices.

- some of the more advanced functionality can be difficult to master without help from customer/technical support but this has not prevented us from moving forward

I like the variety of options and settings that allow you to really customize the schedule to your needs. The support is great and there are a lot of videos available to help you learn how to use the system more efficiently.

There are some work arounds required to block time and add special events that are time-consuming but overall does not discourage our department for using it.

The great thing is being able to look at my schedule as a whole, very easy to implement, and most of all great customer service. Daily we use many of the features of this product on a daily basis. The ability to go in every day and easily see who is working is great especially when as the Director we are not in the office. Such an easy program to use and integrate into our systems.

You have to play with it for a bit to get used to it, however I will say the customer service is amazing and works through any questions or issues I run into.

Customer support is not as good since TCP bought out Aladtec.  Prior to selling, Aladtec excelled in customer service.  Seems like it is outsourced overseas now.  
Feature improvements can be slow to materialize.

What I like most about the TCP Aladtec is the customer service.  If I need anything, any time or day, Aladtec is always quick to respond.  TCP Aladtec is also very user friendly and allows you to do many different things when making a schedule for the year.

The one thing that I dont like about TCP Aladtec is the editing.  Once a schedule has been implemeted, its hard to edit.

Our office was using an exel sheet, print and put up, but when someone took off, we had more Highlighted areas and it was confusing because the schedule changed weekly if not daily

trying to figure out the repeats and rotations.  I needed the TCP staff to assist Me with this and at times it was hard to explain our schedules. I had worked with Javaid on several occassions and he was excellent. He listened and help me learn the program as well

Aladtec has saved our team many hours of . The automated scheduling features eliminate the need for manual scheduling. The customer support provided has also been exceptional. Whenever we have a question or encounter any issue, the support team can be reached via chat or phone call.  They are friendly and quick to provide assistance.

**What do you dislike about Aladtec by TCP?**

Block time is challenging to get used to, but you do get used to it. A few things on our wish list would be the option to change colors with time types, a view where employees could see each other's sign-ups and a place to add a note to an employee's time.

Our organization has various departments and different shift rotations, and Aladtec has been able to accommodate all of our needs. We are able to build each of the scheudles with custom rules and requirements.

The Aladtec scheduling software is well known in the fire service industry. It is robust and able to handle scheduling, trades, time off and benefit time. Open shifts are easy to see and staff can sign up and trade shifts on a mobile app.

While the scheduling system is strong, I can't seem to be able to use for volunteer firefighters or when I have unique scheduling issues.

I think it is more of a learning curve and less of an issue, but if a shift starts at midnight it gets confusing. We are going to start everyone at 11pm staring in 2024.

I also think printing stuff could be a bit better, somehow.

Customer service is number one. They will teach you how to do things within the program, i have needed certain reports before and called to have them add the report only to find out it was already there.

**What do you like best about Aladtec by TCP?**

Before Aladtec, I used a spreadsheet and a book (i.e., pen and paper) and contacted employees by phone or text. With Aladtec, no more paper and pen or using my phone to reach employees. Sending out coverage alerts to all or only a select few employees with just a few clicks is probably one of my favorite features. The flexibility of the platform and the superb customer support must also be noted!

**What do you dislike about Aladtec by TCP?**

I do wish the mobile version was easier to use. It isn't an app, but a bookmark to a mobile version of the website. Approving time off or seeing the schedule views could be improved for mobile users.

**What problems is Aladtec by TCP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Before Aladtec, employees had no way to view any schedule. This was especially true for our part-time employees, that are all on call as needed. They had no way to see who was off and no way to sign up for shifts they wanted to work. Now, even without sending out a coverage alert, all employees can see the schedules they can work and what time is available to sign up. Also, vacation requests were submitted in writing before Aladtec. Now, full-time employees can request off for any number of reasons, and I get a notification on my phone immediately. The benefits of just these few things allow me to spend more time doing other things instead of worrying about finding coverage and allowing employees to see who they are working with daily. I can also use Aladtec to see individual schedules and employee contact information and track their certification expirations in one platform.

The calendar format. It gives us an easy way to look at the daily schedule and see in a glance who is on shift for the day and how many openings we still have to fill.

**What do you dislike about Aladtec by TCP?**

It could be more friendly for 24-hour shifts that are non conforming formats. Also, accruals could be friendlier. It would be nice to be able to assign, say, the holiday bank to another accrual code such as "FMLA holiday". So that the FMLA would pull out of the Holiday bank.

**What problems is Aladtec by TCP solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are able to use the scheduling software for our paid on call firefighters who do irregular shifts, as well as our upcoming Full-time 24 hour shift firefighters. We had customer support build a repetition for us that fits our non-conforming 24 hour shift schedule, and that was very helpful.
