If you are installing it on a site that is not meant for commercial purposes then you can use it for free (up to 1 site). After installing the plugin, it takes care of all the spam filtering for you. Akismet is an easy tool to implement and with a very affordable cost. I like the fact that this software is constantly being updated and that its customer service is really responsive to all queries. Spam is done through comments. In addition to polluting our web space with a mountain of junk links, it risks sending our blog along with this practice, that is, a blog that makes spam. What is Akismet for WordPress and how to configure it? As this thing is badly viewed by google, it is our precise task to prevent it from happening. If you are not satisfied, there is another reason for us to defend ourselves against these attacks. It burdens our database (limited) and we will have to do a nice day, a total and very long cleaning. Using Akismet, we can avoid all this. When you use it, you can't help but notice one thing. This antispam seems to have its own intelligence. In reality it is an algorithm that learns from its mistakes, much better than a person would. Unfortunately, there are BOTs that scan the web looking for forms to fill out automatically, including among other comments that are not very relevant to your site, adding links that point to web pages that are even harmful and dangerous for users who access them. I often do technical assistance for some sites that are not monitored daily and I find mountains of comments to approve all (or almost all) spam. Keeping comments on the blog clean is useful to avoid potentially harmful URLs in the eyes of Google (bad backlink), which ruin your page rank or your domain authority.
