This capability facilitates sensible creation of business roles and procedures which can be easily adapting to changing needs and priorities. We will be using the programmable and customizable features much more in our second phase. Hoping they will prove robust and easy for a qualified developer to work with. **What do you dislike about Akeneo PIM?** I disliked the the third-party contractor/consultant model, but have much better enjoyed working directly with Akeneo through the assigned Customer Success Manager. Hoping that the programmable aspects of the software are robust and easy to use. Jury's still out, but I'm hopeful! **Recommendations to others considering Akeneo PIM:** Ensure you have a qualified data analyst and business analyst on staff to realize maximum value. The power of this thing really comes into play when you are able to connected it other systems, such as the ERP, and modify the business processes of the organization to fully utilize it. **What problems is Akeneo PIM solving and how is that benefiting you?** Our primary purpose is to sit between our ERP and E-commerce platform. Since production launch we have had much better control of how our product data is displayed. We have been able to be much more responsive to our sales-driven operational culture. Our next phase will include utilizing the programmable rules and making better use of the CLI and connectors. We hope to put much more automation in place, making new product adds and data maintenance much easier and more error proof. ### 14. Great PIM. Sure there is some planning that is involved in how you would like to enhance the data, but once you do this. Updates are simple. Its definitely best in class. It enables us to keep different catalogs for different countries, house multi-lingual content etc. But the #1 benefit of this platform is the ease that this platform is adopted in the organization. **What do you dislike about Akeneo PIM?** There are 2 gripes that are minor that I have. 1) Image field is great. However, having image gallery would be nicer. I have Image1...10 fileds to house all the images, but this should really have been simple media gallery to house all images for the product. I beleive this is in Enteprise edition, but not in community edition. Not big deal as there is work around. 2) Revision control system is excellent. However, when someone in team does bulk import using import profile, the creator of profile name shows in import when it should be the user's name. It makes it hard to troubleshoot and go back pin-point individuals who did update in bulk. This is helpful, only because when we want to know who changed the content (in error), we can help go back to that individual and train them. **Recommendations to others considering Akeneo PIM:** If you need a flexible, robust and multi-lingual system this is by far the best in the market. The learning curve for average non-IT users is very easy too, so it will get adopted easily in any organization. This platform should be used as repository to house product content. This is best tool for organization that build the product content from scratch. If you need millions of data and really are not doing any transformation/cleaning up to this data, better to go with content syndicators like CNET, Etilize, Icekat etc. The product shines when you need to enhance the original data you got to create better content for your systems / customers. **What problems is Akeneo PIM solving and how is that benefiting you?** Akeneo has transformed how we manage product data. We have central repository that can be used as to syndicate information to our partners, power our website and manage multi-language content. It is so easy that it requires minimal training and the bulk update/upload feature is nice to quickly fix stuff on hundred of SKUs. The revision control system is fabulous as we know when / what changed and who did this as well. ### 15. It has been designed to be hands on in a few minutes. The administration and the set-up is really very simple. The fact that it's open source has also 2 main advantages : First a lower cost compared to the main competitors on the market. Second, you can easily make it evolve and adapt it to your company and organization. The custom entities enable you to manage data in addition to all the attributes that exist on the product. **What do you dislike about Akeneo PIM?** Management of permissions is sometimes not very easy. Using a big number of languages makes things sometimes tricky to manage and the display on the screen can become fuzzy. The standard mass import/export methods are not very user-friendly. Merchandising functionalities would be also a very helpful additional feature. **Recommendations to others considering Akeneo PIM:** Akeneo is really a great tool that can be used very quickly, whatever the size of your company. The best thing being that -unlike most IT tools- you may adapt the system to your own company's needs (organization and products) instead of adapting your company to the tool. **What problems is Akeneo PIM solving and how is that benefiting you?** Collecting and centralizing product data for the company worldwide (more than 30 countries, 20 different languages). The target is to hold around 300K SKUs. The main goal is to be able to distribute data to third-party systems (ERP, CRM, BI, Web) and to produce documents (catalogs, brochures, datasheets) both for internal use and for our costumers. ### 16. Additionally, the flexibility to customize and add functionality to the platform while maintaining easy upgradability is key to allowing us to put in the place the rules we need based on our specific product info. **What do you dislike about Akeneo PIM?** As with any primary system that handles a large amount of specialized data, the customizations needed take time and effort to properly build out, test and improve upon to fully realize the system's potential. This is not a problem with Akeneo itself, but just a process that must be gone through thoroughly to best use the system. **Recommendations to others considering Akeneo PIM:** Go through a demo first off but then, for easy of implementation, make sure you have detailed requirements for how you want products, categories and data well thought out so you can best take advantage of the various things that the system offers. **What problems is Akeneo PIM solving and how is that benefiting you?** Our primary inventory system does not have much in the way of actual product management capabilities beyond the basics needed for inventory control and certainly cannot fulfill the needs for web site display or other channels. Adding all this information as well as deriving certain attributes from what exists within the inventory system was a time consuming and manual, error-prone process. Akeneo has helped to add in routines and processing that can be accomplished automatically so that we can focus on adding in additional data that truly adds value. ### 21. The excel connector was handy and the bulk import made life easy, once all of the product information was tidied up at least. The fact that they state the community edition is forever free helped reduce any apprehension before trying it out. The fact that it can integrate with Magento was a major reason for choosing this solution. **What do you dislike about Akeneo PIM?** The lack of user permissions when using the free version.
