Our company uses Akamai Connected Cloud all the time. What I appreciate most is their extensive network of data centers worldwide, which allows us to quickly deploy servers close to our target customers. Now that they’re part of Akamai, their peering policy ensures excellent connectivity to ISPs around the globe. The API integration is also seamless, making it easy to spin up new servers whenever our services require extra "power." The only drawback is in the API. I wish there were a field to assign a custom unique ID when creating a new instance, allowing for easier removal later. In my use case, instances often delete themselves after completing their tasks. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Using Linode to set up a VPS for web hosting or other cloud computing is extremely simple and quick. A wide variety of hardware configurations are available and pricing for each is transparent. Deciding is made easier by the wealth of documentation, both on the product page and Akami techdocs documentation pages.

The Linode marketplace is an excellent way to deploy servers and saves time installing and configuring applications. I used it to deploy a Wordpress instance in under 10 minutes.

Reliability of the server has been rock-solid and it is easy to access and maintain both over SSH and through the web UI. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I would say pricing is a little higher than some other large hosting companies - although many of these have a limited amount of datacenter locations to choose from. I think the Akami / Linode branding and merging is a little confusing, as some things show as and have to be accessed through Linode, and some show as Akami.

I would like some more affordable options for storage-oriented servers, as Linode's offering seems to be less comprehensive and more expensive than some of the other options. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The interface is very nice, clean and requires basically no training. I find it intuitive and I like the layout. I can spin up servers very quickly and it's easy to customise the settings as I'm doing so.

Fundamentally it makes this space quite approachable, if you've worked with other cloud providers you know it can be quite intimidating, there are a million options, with endless settings, unique terms for all sorts of things... But here it's minimal (in the best way). I feel I can have full control over the platform.

The pricing is also very good, I recently just found out the object storage is cheaper than S3 !? Which is pretty damn awesome.

I don't even know if this is a negative yet, as I have not implemented the VPC stuff (my region London (eu west) did not have VPC until recently) i've recently migrated to London 2 (the new london location) and that has VPC...

But I suspect there are no nice graphically VPC diagrams that visually display the network.. (I could be wrong though but did not see that in the docs).

I'm a fan of some nice graphs and network diagrams, and a visual VPC diagram feature would be super slick.

I use Akamai Cloud virtual private servers to run my business application, I like its uncomplicated interface and user experience. Akamai cloud is very stable and consists robust security controls with high avaibality with suits for major enterptises. Akamai data centers are certificate with highest standards in the industry (Tier IV) which gives enterprise trust. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Linode is very affordable and simple to use compared to using other cloud providers. The dashboard is quite good and regarding performance, Linode was consistently better than competitors, especially in handling loads according to benchmark tests. Linode's built-in resource monitoring is pretty basic. Hence I mostly use external tools for deeper insights as my infrastructure scales. The web-based terminal can be flaky due to locale settings, so direct SSH access is what I normally use.
