## About Airtable Interfaces

Airtable Interfaces (powered by Interface Designer) is a no-code, drag-and-drop tool built directly into the Airtable platform that enables teams to create custom, interactive visual interfaces on top of their existing Airtable bases. It is designed to give every team member — regardless of technical skill level — a focused, simplified, and actionable view of the data that matters most to them, without requiring them to navigate the underlying base directly. At its core, Interface Designer acts as an interactive layer on top of Airtable's shared data. Users can build fully custom interfaces in minutes using a suite of drag-and-drop components including grids, charts, timelines, number summaries, record pickers, and more. Each interface is powered by live data from one or more tables within a base, meaning any updates made in the interface are instantly reflected in the underlying data — and vice versa. Interfaces are highly flexible and support multiple layout types to suit different workflows. The dashboard layout is ideal for aggregating metrics, highlighting trends, and displaying data in bar, line, scatter, pie, or donut charts. The record review layout allows users to triage, approve, and comment on multiple records efficiently — perfect for content approval workflows, campaign asset reviews, or resource prioritization. The record summary layout enables team members to drill into one record at a time using a dropdown record selector, making it well-suited for user research interviews or recruiting pipelines. One of the key strengths of Airtable Interfaces is its ability to present data from multiple tables within a single base, side by side — something that standard shared views cannot do. Interfaces also support interactive filtering, allowing collaborators to surface only the records most relevant to them. Elements within an interface can be made editable, enabling stakeholders to update fields, check approval boxes, add comments, or upload attachments directly within the interface — without ever touching the raw base. Interfaces support granular permission controls, allowing builders to invite interface-only collaborators who can interact with the interface without accessing the full base. On Enterprise plans, user groups can be leveraged to personalize what each team or individual sees, ensuring data security and relevance at scale. Interfaces can be shared via direct link or discovered through the Airtable home screen. Airtable Interfaces also integrates with AI capabilities. Through Airtable's MCP (Model Context Protocol) server, AI models such as Claude, ChatGPT, and Gemini can now build interfaces directly from plain-language descriptions — scaffolding dashboards with calendar, kanban, and timeline views automatically. This makes it possible for teams to go from a description of what they need to a fully functional interface without manual configuration. Interface Designer is available to all Airtable users, with advanced permission features reserved for higher-tier plans. It supports a wide range of use cases across product, marketing, sales, operations, and more — from executive dashboards and client portals to content approval workflows and recruiting pipelines. Pre-built templates are available in the Interfaces category to help teams get started quickly.

"Airtable Scales Workflows Easily with Integrations, Automations, and AI"

4.5/5

What do you like best about Airtable?

Airtable has been super helpful for connecting data across platforms, managing projects, and planning global marketing campaigns that vary by region. The UI is straightforward enough that you can really maximize the database side of Airtable; however, the true value is how easily you can scale your work across systems using integrations, automations, and workflows. While designing systems and apps can be daunting, there are plenty of tutorials and videos available across the internet for builders to turn to when they need guidance. When you know exactly what your building, Airtable's AI, Omni, makes converting your ideas and prompts into apps and databases super easy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Airtable?

Although Airtable has been helpful for my teams, Airtable’s AI, Omni, isn’t perfect, and the UX could use some improvement. I’d especially like Omni to be a bit more conversational when it’s interpreting data in my databases and responding to questions about that data. For now, I’ve found this can be mitigated by connecting an LLM to Airtable’s MCP, which lets tools like Claude pull from Airtable context and make edits within your Airtable environment. I’ve also noticed a gap between the front-end “interfaces” experience and the back-end databases: some extensions work in one but not the other, which can be confusing, and it'd be helpful to expand on the front-end views you can set up. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Airtable solving and how is that benefiting you?

Before Airtable, our project management workflows were scattered across multiple apps and tools. We didn’t have a single source of truth, which made it harder to keep track of all the moving pieces across different campaigns. A lot of tasks were manual, and measuring ROI as well as tracking progress toward our goals was unnecessarily complicated.

Now we have automated workflows that pull data from Salesforce into Airtable and then turn it into Slack canvases, reports, memos, and other documents. This has made it much easier to stay aligned and keep everything organized in one place. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Airtable Empowers Non-Engineers to Build Custom Apps and Streamline Workflows"

5/5

What do you like best about Airtable?

Airtable brings the power of relational databases to builders who are not software engineers by trade. It allows a wide range of users to build custom apps and run their everyday workflows much more easily and efficiently Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Airtable?

The mobile app could use some improvement, to better match the desktop and browser experience Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Airtable solving and how is that benefiting you?

Airtable allows me to build custom business solutions for my consultancy clients, including invoicing, project management, HR and sales. I've been able to build seamless integrations with Google Calendar, Fireflies, Zapier, DocsAutomator and Gmail to extend the core relational database functionality, to essentially create a single tool that runs most of my clients' operations.

Bespoke software solutions like the ones I've built using Airtable used to take an entire engineering team weeks or months to build, but can now be created in a matter of hours, at a fraction of the cost.

Throw in Airtable's powerful AI Field Agents and you have a centralized system that is fast, reliable, scalable and, most importantly, user friendly. I've been using Airtable for the past 6+ years and have never had to contact support, thanks mainly to the self-service reference documentation, and more recently the certified courses available through Airtable Academy. "Airtable Powers Our Lean ERP with Great Automations and Responsive Support"

4.5/5

What do you like best about Airtable?

Airtable has been a key tool for our company. Its basics make the building of our ERP very lean (unique data layer, direct sync with shared interfaces, experience based on the collaborator role). Automations are of course a must for our organization now and remain very limited in cost, compared to the value they provide, including when it uses AI capacities. Support have always been quite reactive and helpful (expect one or two occurrences that seemed to be linked to my interlocutor). And finally their constant progress in communication and features make it up-to-date regarding the state-of-the-art and relieves us from benchmarking for migrations, more performing tool set. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Airtable?

The successive joins between tables and limitations of 500 columns per table is definitely a constraint Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Airtable solving and how is that benefiting you?

Using it a unique source of truth, with no lack of confidence from any collaborator is a real value for the whole company, from executives to interns Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Airtable: Scalable, Adaptable, and Easy to Build Powerful Workflows"

5/5

What do you like best about Airtable?

Airtable is a highly scalable data platform that can support everything from simple workflows to complex business systems. Its intuitive interface, flexible building tools and in-app AI assistance make it easy for users to get started quickly, while still providing the depth needed for more advanced applications.

As AI accelerates and interfaces become increasingly user-orchestrated, the ability to capture, structure and connect data effectively is becoming a significant business advantage. Airtable makes this straightforward through extensive integration options, an accessible API and native MCP capabilities for both building applications and working directly with data.

Its real strength is adaptability. Applications can evolve continuously as requirements change, rather than being constrained by a one-off system implementation. This creates ongoing value and allows organisations to respond quickly to new opportunities, processes and technologies. Solid performance coupled with this adaptability means that return on cost investment is continual and not tied to one-off implementation of 'fixed' systems.

The platform is also well supported. Airtable provides extensive guidance through its support resources and developer documentation, while Airtable Academy offers structured learning and certification. An active user and developer community adds another valuable source of practical knowledge and support.

The future of business systems will depend on tools that are accessible, adaptable and able to evolve alongside rapidly changing needs. Airtable is well positioned to be one of those platforms. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Airtable?

There’s very little to dislike about Airtable. It’s continually being updated with new features and additions - which is fantastic - but it can also mean that user-builders sometimes struggle to take full advantage of the more powerful new capabilities as they arrive. Beyond that, the downsides are few to none. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Airtable solving and how is that benefiting you?

One straightforward problem that Airtable has helped solve across many developments and implementations I’ve worked on is the easy centralisation of core business data. For any business, this brings clarity and insight grounded in reality - something that’s hard to achieve when data is disconnected and scattered.

When data is more visible, operations become more visible too. Stronger data cohesion also supports better analysis, helping turn information into knowledge and, ultimately, wisdom. Time is saved when information is readily available and doesn’t need to be hunted down, and decisions can be made faster and more accurately when the full picture is accessible. "A Better Way to Organize Complex Workflows"

5/5

What do you like best about Airtable?

What I like most about Airtable is how flexible and customizable it is. I can take a complex academic workflow that would normally require multiple spreadsheets and turn it into a centralized system tailored to exactly how our team works.

Being able to link related information, create different views and interfaces for different users, and automate repetitive communication has been especially valuable for managing faculty scheduling, clinical placements, and broader academic operations. I also appreciate that I can keep refining the system as our processes evolve, without needing extensive technical or programming knowledge.

Overall, Airtable strikes a great balance for me: it’s powerful enough to handle complex workflows, yet still approachable enough for an administrative user to build, maintain, and adjust over time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Airtable?

The biggest challenge with Airtable is the learning curve once you start using more advanced features like formulas, linked records, automations, and interfaces. Some of the more complex calculations and reporting can also take some trial and error.

I would also like more flexibility with permissions and user access when building interfaces for larger groups. Overall, though, these are manageable limitations given how customizable the platform is. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Airtable solving and how is that benefiting you?

Airtable is helping us move away from managing complex academic and clinical scheduling processes across multiple spreadsheets and disconnected systems. I use it to centralize faculty availability, assignments, clinical sessions, staffing needs, and scheduling information in one place.

This gives our team better visibility, reduces duplicate or outdated information, and makes it much easier to identify staffing gaps and follow up with faculty. Automations and customized interfaces also reduce manual administrative work and make our processes more scalable as our programs grow. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Incredibly Flexible Airtable Apps with Powerful AI Built Into Workflows"

5/5

What do you like best about Airtable?

Airtable’s genius is its flexibility. It lets you build applications quickly and tailor them to your processes without deep technical knowledge. If you’re comfortable with tools like Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Forms, you can get started with Airtable very quickly.

In our organization, we’ve used Airtable to automate employee onboarding, coordinate disaster relief efforts during times of crisis, compile and synthesize research to support evidence-based decisions, and manage and track assets. Today, we have more than 60 Airtable apps and bases, many of which leverage integrations such as Zapier, PDF.co, Formsite, and others.

Some of my favorite features are the flexibility to create different user interfaces for different audiences, the ability to deploy public-facing forms for easy data collection, and especially the ability to use AI at the field or cell level. That last feature is incredibly powerful because it allows AI to become part of a workflow rather than just a separate tool.

It’s difficult to calculate the total cost savings Airtable has created for us, but at a minimum, we estimate it has saved us about $50,000 per year compared with subscribing to numerous specialized applications to meet the same range of needs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Airtable?

I honestly struggle to identify much that I dislike about Airtable, other than the fact that new features sometimes arrive faster than I can fully explore the ones already available.

One challenge I do encounter is returning to automations or interfaces that I built months earlier. If I have not touched them in a while, it can take some time to reacquaint myself with how everything was configured before making changes or improvements. That is probably less a limitation of Airtable and more a reminder that I need to do a better job documenting what I build. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Airtable solving and how is that benefiting you?

Employee onboarding, asset management, disaster relief efforts, Intranet forms, workflows, and notifications, etc. We also use it to support submitted IT support tickets by associating NFC tags with metadata inserted into the support ticket request form. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Airtable Makes Relational Systems Accessible for Non-Technical Teams"

5/5

What do you like best about Airtable?

What I like most about Airtable is the combination of a relational database with a front end that non-technical teams can actually use.

I build operational systems for small businesses, memberships, masterminds and service-based businesses, and Airtable gives me the flexibility to take processes that are scattered across spreadsheets, inboxes and multiple tools and bring them into one connected system.

I particularly like being able to link data across tables, build formulas and automations, and then use Interfaces to give different people a much simpler view of the information they actually need.

That means a business owner can have a high-level command centre showing things like revenue, client or member status, renewals, payments and operational risks, while the team works from completely different views designed for their day-to-day responsibilities.

It is flexible enough that I can build systems around the way a business already works rather than forcing the business into a rigid piece of software. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Airtable?

The flexibility is also one of Airtable's weaknesses.

Because you can build almost anything, it is very easy for a base to become overly complicated if the underlying process and data structure have not been thought through properly first.

There are also still situations where I would like more control over Interfaces and the end-user experience. Airtable has improved enormously here, but there is a gap between building a great internal operational application and having the level of front-end flexibility you would get from a dedicated application platform.

As someone who builds Airtable systems professionally, I also have to think about long-term platform dependency. When a business puts a significant part of its operations into one platform, portability and future platform changes naturally become part of the architectural decision. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Airtable solving and how is that benefiting you?

The biggest problem Airtable solves for my clients is operational fragmentation.

Information often exists in several different tools and in people's heads. A founder may know what is happening across the business, but the team has no single place where that information connects.

I use Airtable to create systems that connect areas such as:

CRM and sales pipelines

Client or member onboarding

Contracts and renewals

Payment recovery

Support requests

Tasks and follow-ups

Program or service delivery

Engagement and retention

Reporting and CEO dashboards

The benefit is not simply having the data in one place. The real value is making the business more visible.

Instead of someone manually checking five different tools or asking the founder what needs to happen next, the system can surface the records that need attention and trigger the appropriate workflow.

For the businesses I work with, that reduces manual administration, makes delegation easier, and gives the founder a much clearer view of what is happening without having to be involved in every operational detail. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Airtable: Accessible, Powerful Databases for a Growing Travel Company"

5/5

What do you like best about Airtable?

Airtable is an incredibly accessible and powerful database tool. Through interfaces I've been able to get my entire team to use the tool in a variety of ways and also improve their own systems and technology. The familiar spreadsheet style coding and back-end with a robust database behind it have been a game changer.

In travel, most companies rely heavily on spreadsheets and the ability to quickly migrate into Airtable and create a unified cross team database has impacted everything from sales to operations at the business.

The software integrates well with Claude and some of our other tools and is quick, easy, and cloud based. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Airtable?

The power of the tool is that you can do nearly anything, that is also the downside since sometimes you do need to find workarounds and it also means some of our systems are not always as straightforward to less experience Airtable users. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Airtable solving and how is that benefiting you?

The biggest benefit of Airtable has been our single-source of truth operations toolkit which allows our team to quickly access key data across platforms and tools (and analyze it with AI too). We've been able to manage complicated bookeeping and scale our trip operations through the platform quickly and efficiently. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Flexibility Meets Cost-Effective Customization"

5/5

What do you like best about Airtable?

I love Airtable for its flexibility as a no-code, low-code platform. It's great for creating custom, client-specific processes with the right combination of guardrails and flexibility. This platform allows me to simplify and restructure processes easily, and it was a cost-effective alternative to Salesforce. I appreciate being able to integrate it with other platforms like e-signature solutions, making it versatile. The ability to customize ensures that clients don't feel locked into our service, as they can make simple changes themselves. I also enjoy how, as we get comfortable with Airtable, it becomes more powerful and addictive to integrate more business operations, consolidating tech sprawl into one platform. Additionally, if a new use case arises, it's usually possible to integrate with other platforms the client already uses. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Airtable?

Probably the biggest complication, though it's getting better, is in record count limits and how well Airtable serves "line item" processes. It's possible, it's just maybe not the best space for it often, as it can require extra fields and less intuitive arrangements. It would be nice if Airtable built a native "archive" function for archiving records in a table so that they weren't deleted but transcribed to a different space for reporting purposes later. The setup of Airtable took a bit of time, and since it's a custom solution, we needed to rethink how the process worked to integrate it better into other processes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Airtable solving and how is that benefiting you?

Airtable lets me create custom solutions with flexibility and guardrails, offering clients a no-code platform they can self-edit. It saves costs by replacing systems like Salesforce and integrates with existing tools, enhancing our process efficiency. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
