The automation engine in Aha! is really helpful for keeping everybody informed, especially our stakeholders. Additionally, I found the initial setup to be not complicated at all. Overall, it's a very good product for project management and product management, as it helps in publishing roadmaps, sharing ideas, receiving them from our clients, and organizing the work to be done in a support company. **What do you dislike about Aha!?** Well, the fact that some custom field types, like notes, cannot be used in automation is a drawback. Basically, what I mentioned about the notes is the only field I have that is multiline, and I can enter formatted text. But I cannot use it in automation, which is an issue for me. **What problems is Aha! solving and how is that benefiting you?** I use Aha! to customize forms and track project data, keeping stakeholders informed with its automation engine. ### 2. Most of the components of Aha are "good enough". The project management features aren't as good as Asana, or the whiteboarding features aren't as good as Miro. **What problems is Aha! solving and how is that benefiting you?** Product details were spread out everywhere, Sharepoint, individual files, Teams channels, emails, etc. Aha becomes the central repo for everything and that brings clarity and momentum into the product lifecycle. ### 4. They are available and extremely helpful in answering questions. **What do you dislike about Aha!?** It can be difficult to set up and connect with other develop tools like Azure Devops. However, we do have multiple workspaces which makes our particular set up a little more involved. **What problems is Aha! solving and how is that benefiting you?** Before using Aha, we had a difficult time organzing and prioritizing our internal stakeholder requests vs. our product led ideas. We also lacked standardization with documentation on our product team. Aha has enabled us to get organized and efficient in our processes. ### 7. Compared to competitors like productboard and craft.io, it is definitely more feature-rich, more customizable, and more enterprise ready. We use AHA to plan across different levels of the organization and it is great with that, including managing OKRs and strategic initiatives. The tool is really flexible with a lot of templates, reporting, and customization options. With more and more integrations (eg recently whiteboards and Jira), the tool is becoming more and more embedded in our processes. With that, AHA is revolutionizing our quarterly planning processes. About 20% of our PMs use the tool daily, 30% weekly, and the rest about monthly. A true value is the support model. Both the support team and the concierge service are really making sure we get the mot out of the tool. **What do you dislike about Aha!?** AHA contributor licenses are quite expensive. While a lot can also be done with the free seats (reviewer license), we find that the access management is not quite as refined for different roles. We would be able to get more value out of the tool if UX and engineering leads would also be able to work more extensively with epics, including non-functional requirements on the engineering side. But that is quite limited as per the licensing of AHA. Usability is an issue. The tool is quite feature rich and customizable. But with a lot of dropdown navigations, it is often not easy for the user to know where they are in the navigation (eg jumping from initiatives to reports/roadmaps with a dropdown, or having to navigate across the tree of org hierarchy). There are also a lot of similar / redundant features such as the many different roadmap views, which take some getting used to to identify which one is preferred when. **What problems is Aha! solving and how is that benefiting you?** strategic planning 6-18+ months out idea management capacity estimation & staffing ### 9. Whenever we got stuck, Aha support provided an answer within 24 hours every time, and often offered to troubleshoot live over a video call. **What do you dislike about Aha!?** My primary concern is that the depth of functionality created a daunting onboarding process. Despite the eagerness of Aha customer success, it still took a long time for me to find bandwidth to learn about the tool and get comfortable with it -- before rolling out to the broader Product org. A smaller nit is that we're trying to replace PowerPoint with Aha Presentations, and the Aha functionality is limited in comparison to the Microsoft product. **What problems is Aha! solving and how is that benefiting you?** Roadmap prioritization, and roadmap communication to different audiences. It's also nice for roadmap purposes and being able to lay things out visually for the business. **What do you dislike about Aha!?** Sometimes I get lost in Jira if you are in the wrong project. You might be looking for something, but cannot find it. As well, if one date gets messed up on the roadmap, it's not easy to fix it, you have to go into each part seperately to make it all work, and sometimes I never get to that point and my whole chart looks like a mess. Wish there was an easier way to make it flexible if something changes on a roadmap. **What problems is Aha! solving and how is that benefiting you?** Idea purposes with our clients - easy way to talk to them and get the feedback in one place. It has a familiar interface for PM/POs that makes for a short ramp-up time. **What do you dislike about Aha!?** While this seems like a dream tool for PM/PO for collaboration, it has some pitfalls. This the not a magic wand that will transfer concepts between the two groups seamlessly. This tool still requires a lot of time and meetings for both stakeholders to understand what the other side actually diesires and expectations around that work. AHA is just very good at capturing these discussions. **What problems is Aha! solving and how is that benefiting you?** None. I could do this easier in Jira. A task unfinished, stranded or forgotten? Shift it to the next sprint and it will pop-up again. I really like the aesthetic of the roadmaps the tool generates. **What do you dislike about Aha!?** There is a strong initial learning curve for the product; but once the team gets rolling, it becomes very effective. As well as providing essential features such as feature (& epic) backlog, roadmaps, and release planning, it also provides structure to help define top-down strategy, with its templates such as business canvas, SWOT, 5 factors, and its structure for defining goals and strategic initiatives. **What do you dislike about Aha!?** It has quite a steep learning curve, by virtue of being so configurable, and offering so much functionality. Figuring out the best way to use it, even with tutorial & primer resources, can be time consuming. The lack of true Zenhub integration has been a pain point for us. It is also quite expensive - and it will add up as you inevitably add more users, since there will be impetus to convert Reviewer accounts into paid seats over time - you simply get more/better participation from users that have read/write access to features, epics, releases, roadmap etc. **What problems is Aha! solving and how is that benefiting you?** Aha has allowed us to have a single view of what were previously more disparate projects, and apply top-down strategy to them to move them closer to a true product line. The multiple integrations supported also played well with our organizations often heterogenous processes and preferred tools - such a single view, integrating all of our external sources of truth, would be impossible to build in most other tools. ### 42. The contributor might not always know the best fit for an idea, we like the ability to move ideas between product lines with the click of the mouse. We started using the road map feature to better inform our upper level management of our progress. We are really excited about the integration with Azure DevOps. As a development team, we rely heavily on DevOps and the integration allows us to reduce the data entry aspect. The development team can comment in their system and the contributor can answer in Aha!, this creates a seamless flow. Overall, for the past year, we have been learning the platform and building out our processes. We are at a point now where we have embarrassed Aha! and will be promoting this throughout our organization. **What do you dislike about Aha!?** One of the biggest hurdles is understanding all of the options you have at your fingertips. The learning curve was a little difficult at first to make sure you were using the correct area of the platform. For example, there are multiple road map options. Finding which one fits best for your need was something we had to learn by trial and error. **What problems is Aha! solving and how is that benefiting you?** We were attempting to solve the ideation portion of our software development life cycle. We had tools for developers and testers but nothing for the product owner and contributors. We knew we needed a way to track the ideas of our contributors in an orderly fashion as to not overwhelm the product owner. Being able to integrate and tie together all parts of the product lifecycle from ideation to strategy to execution has been great. Seeing Aha release enhancements and continuously improve the product in a transparent way has also been very helpful. **What do you dislike about Aha!?** It's difficult to onboard new people, especially those that don't want to spend all of their time learning how to use Aha. We tried to use the reporting feature but it was too limited and constrained (e.g. stakeholder could not click through to see details of ideas, features, releases, etc.). We are now trying to train them to use the basics of the full interface. Also, even though there is a mobile app, it is very difficult to actually manage items through that interface. The mobile app and views are best for quickly looking up information but I have to do most of my work on my computer instead. **What problems is Aha! solving and how is that benefiting you?** Transparency of the product roadmap and providing clearer communication of what is being worked on and when new functionality and features will be available to customers and stakeholders. We're making progress in this area but it has been slower than planned due to the onboarding required (discussed above) to give senior stakeholders easy views into the roadmap and product direction while balancing their desire to be able to dive into the details periodically. ## Aha!
