I use Affinity Designer mainly for vector work in my UI/UX designs, and I find the artboards feature really smooth, especially when working in a short time. The biggest advantage for me is that it eliminates the Adobe subscription headache. Affinity Designer is a one-time purchase, which is a huge relief as I don't have to pay monthly just to use a design tool. It's fast, has no bloat, opens quickly, and handles complex files without choking. The way it switches between vector and pixel models in the same file is really handy because I don’t have to jump between apps constantly. The performance is the best, and I also think the Studio Link feature is good; it lets me switch modes on the same file and canvas, everything is right there. I can click into Affinity Photo mode for raster edits and then switch back to Designer. The setup is also straightforward, with a simple download and install process, no account needed, and no activation servers being weird. Once you buy it, you use it—simple as that. There is no web-based or real-time collaboration feature, which is a huge bummer. Also, the component feature feels more basic compared to Figma. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. It eliminates the need for an Adobe subscription, saving me time and money. I liked that some of the effects you can apply to images show in real time with the option of tweaking them. The one time price you pay is a plus opposed to being forced into a subscription so you do feel like you actually own the product instead of "renting it" monthly. The program size is half the space of what Photoshop would take. The similarity are very like Adobe Photoshop so the interface is not as confusing as you would think. Some of the features of settings feel kind of hidden or harder to find. Some features just feel lost and one thing i was not into was i couldn't find an option to full screen an image. I like to have the file i am working on displayed at full screen on one device while on the other for a workspace. There is not any tools to organize or to set a up a custom work space. Not a bad program but it feels like somethings are lacking and that some features feel like they are missing that other programs in the photo editing market have to offer. It has very familiar styles of interface, layouts, and shortcuts. It is a solid program to begin photo editing with but one major plus with Affinity Photo is a one time charge which is a plus oppose to Adobes subscription plan. Affinity Designer and its friends are built native. This means that everything is blazing fast, especially since the developers are very well capable of implementing robust software. There is a large set of features, and you can do everything from basic designs to complex illustrations. Best of all, each product is sold at a very competitive price point. In my opinion, the Affinity suite has gotten too slow in adding new features that it just seems like I keep waiting for too long for a certain basic feature a lot of people are asking for. Recommendations to others considering Affinity Designer: If you need a solid desktop-editing experience for UI and illustrations, Affinity Designer is a great choice to go with. It is significantly cheaper compared to other popular tools from Adobe and Sketch. What problems is Affinity Designer solving and how is that benefiting you? The Affinity suite is extremely well-integrated with each other. If you get Designer, you also get a few basic pixel-editing tools. If you get Photo, you also get a little vector-based editing capabilities. The feature set is huge, and you can pretty much do almost everything you want to do in it. Overall, it proves to be an incredible replacement for the overly expensive Adobe products.
