Setting up a new project or editing an existing project is fast and easy. Over the last few years the platform has been adding more tools such as local search engines, a site crawl feature, social reporting and even Google algorithm changes. More advanced export tools that would allow me to pivot data would be great - like exporting a set of keywords and tying multiple locations to the keyword set in one export. If you just want to track historical search rankings for your site, this is the tool for you. AWR's pricing is extremely competitive compared to some of the other SEO platforms out there. My favourite feature is that it stores a cached copy of the SERP so that you can check back and see exactly what the search results looked like at a particular point in time. Tracking is enabled for both desktop and mobile and can be tailored to specific locations. There is also some functionality for backlinks, auditing, and social. (This review is for the desktop version of AWR) Advanced Web Ranking combines the most important things for gathering SERP data into one program: High-quality scraping, proxy rotation, and analytics integration, along with speed. We use AWR to quickly assess our rankings across a massive set of keywords, perform competitive analysis across new markets, and gather contact websites for outreach in a snap. AWR is the best platform I've tested for SERP scraping, and consistently gives accurate, geo-diverse results. Its custom reports functionality is exceedingly useful in identifying competitors, assessing current positions, and finding link prospects. One of my favorite applications for AWR is setting keywords to a list of cities in a locale with states, and putting search depth to 1. This grabs about 85% of the municipal government websites for those cities, which are awesome link targets for utilities and safety linkbuilding. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about Advanced Web Ranking? (This review is for the desktop version of AWR) AWR's faults lie in its accessibility (though with some getting used to, those problems are quickly solved). Setting up things like proxy rotation and SMTP settings isn't very easy to do, and messing up those settings can lead to hours of lost time. The interface is not very intuitive: While a project is updating, it appears that you can't access the information from any other of your saved projects (this may be possible, but I haven't found how to yet). It definitely takes a tutorial or walkthough to establish a workflow in AWR. One last annoyance is that the program will buckle under pressure when faced with very large scarping projects (20K keywords, depth of 50, for example). This isn't entirely unexpected, but the option to split projects up when they reach that size, rather than finding out they failed 50% through, would be appreciated. Despite these faults, AWR is easily the best platform we've ever used for gathering SERP data, and once you get over the learning curve, is pretty easy to use and customize. I would highly recommend the desktop version over the web, since it's a 1-time purchase, will run extremely fast on a well-powered machine, and has (in my opinion) a higher degree of customizability. When evaluating the capabilities of AWR, make sure to think outside the box. Using these tools, there's a lot more you can do than just gather competitors and keyword data. (This review is for the desktop version of AWR) Buzzstream solves our issue of gathering keyword data quickly and accurately. While there are many platforms that provide this kind of data, no other both runs locally, rotates proxies for accurate data, and can gather nearly this depth of data on keywords and competitors. It may be the sizable research that I'm performing, but AWR freezes during project updates or causes my PC to crash a lot. It can be extremely frustrating when pulling reports that take 2-3 days that may crash halfway through. Also, this is a fairly heavy tool. Unlimited keyword capacity, speed of processing large quantities of data (when supported with proxy servers) without triggering flags or bans by the Search Engines. Occasional inconsistent SERP data returned (as compared with manual verification) , occasional missing data or query failure (especially with Bing/Yahoo, with a caveat: AWR Support leads have identified problems with those engines, and is working with them to solve.) The cost of the software license is not unreasonable at all, so it is accessible to individual users. There will be a higher ongoing cost associated with clean, reliable proxy IPs which are a requirement for any level of scaled production at the agency level (hundreds of dollars per month depending on provider.) This is well worth the investment, because the combination of AWR with a set of 50 to 100 good proxy IPs effectively removes upper limits on keywords, domains, search engines, that other solutions impose. On the other hand, if your not an agency with high volume and large projects, hosted solutions might be more straightforward (or the Cloud version of AWR for that matter.) This is a scalable ranking solution that allows our team to process large rank reports for enterprise clients within timeframes unattainable with any of the other solutions on the market we have tested. Likely the only comparable solution would involve a custom coded tool, and with that scenario, keeping up with every major and minor Search Engine (accross regions, countries, locales) as AWR does on an ongoing basis, would be cost prohibitive. These days, I prefer using Google Webmaster tools and manual checking. There are other tools that are much easier to use and you can get similar results.
