The last major update re did the interface. Now instead of a simple interface showing everyhting you needed at once,everything is in a drop down menu, and sometimes you need to go into a drop down menu within a previous dropdown menu. It used to have such a cliean eafy to follow interface, but someone ruined it. Some long renders (progects over over 20 minutes) will have it hang for over an hourwhen the progress bar is at its done. Sometimes pausing and restarting the ender will make it finish, othertimes you ned to restart the project. Its not as efficient as it uesed to be Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. These are some of the features I like in Adobe Media Encoder • I like being able to use Adobe Media Encoder to convert media files to video and audio files for various uses and platforms. • Adobe Media Encoder has many presets for different platforms, uses, and quality options. • I like that the presets are customizable and that you can create and save your own presets. • I like that you can batch convert multiple video files. • I like that you can see the real-time progress/status of the conversion. • I like how well it works with other Adobe Creative Suite applications, like Adobe After Effects. • I can create compositions in Adobe After Effects and convert it for sharing right from Adobe Afetr Effects using the Adobe Media Encoder • I also like that I can use other projects and applications, while Adobe Media Encoder is running. First off, this is just a different version of Media Encoder CC, and much is the same both good and bad, first off, the speed of which you can render products is insanely quick, this is amazing for quick exports of multiple clips that are to be sent off to wherever in one go, the UI is also very clean and displays all the info you could ever want, such as formats, timecodes, small display window showing the current frame rendering, and all this is adjustable, you can scale, move, add and finally remove windows that you deem more useful or worthless this is all great stuff. The main problem with encoder is its main hook, rendering, if your doing a very basic render with little effects and next to no post production elements applied then this software might be alright, but if your wanting your final cut or basic cut with grades rendered out quick then you best just render it out your main editing software such as premire, yes it takes longer, but encoder is buggy to all ends, note some of these dont come up as errors within the software, some of the experiences ive had, edits rendering without grades and applied precomps from after effects links, renders having random black frames placed into the cut, footage just missing point blank missing, multiple crashes with very blank error logs as to why. I honestly cannot reccomend this software when the main function of it, doesn't work at all. Youd be better off just rendering from premiere one at a time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. Recommendations to others considering Adobe Media Encoder: I wouldnt even bother trying it, if your having trouble with render times and need to batch render I would reccomend a render farm service over using this software, yes it costs but it is better than having headaches trying to fix media encoder. Media encoders cue building feature. The multitasking ability is incredible. I can edit for a few hours. Cue out multiple interations and sit back and catch up on emails. It is great to be able to queue up multiple videos in Encoder at once, and then I can just leave it and continue either in Premiere or other applications I am working in, without having to go back to export each video individually. Media Encoder tends to crash about 50% of the time I use it— especially when I queue up an export, and then go back to working in Premiere. Often times, I simply have to queue up one or two videos to export, and then leave the computer completely alone without touching anything else. The encoder is reliable and efficient. It's nice to have a single program to interface with several Adobe CC apps (After Effects, Premiere Pro, Prelude, etc.). Being able to queue up a bunch of items is awesome. You can let it run overnight or other times you're away from your computer. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about Adobe Media Encoder? The encoder has a multitude of presets (more than can fit on the screen when you open up the menu) but no support for DVD encoding. This limitation is probably less significant with each passing year as more and more laptops don't even have an optical drive. And creating DVDs and Blu-Rays is made more complicated by features like menus and captions, so perhaps it isn't fair to put this complaint here. But I when I have a client who needs a DVD (which still happens relatively often), the only option in Adobe CC is Encore CS6—a horrible program that Adobe hasn't maintained for years. I am currently using Adobe Media Encoder CC 2015.3, although I have been using Media Encoder since 2013. What problems is Adobe Media Encoder solving and how is that benefiting you? For video clients, the Encoder is a natural step in the creative pathway. I do most of my video work in After Effects, so I'll render in-progress versions to upload to YouTube as unlisted videos (not searchable, but accessible to anyone with the link) for clients to check out. I also use the Encoder extensively when creating clips and subclips from longer videos in Adobe Prelude.
