Adobe Captivate lets you create amazing and interactive e-learning content. It offers you ready-to-use templates, content library, assets, and videos that you can simply plug into your course. Apart from slides for branching scenarios, Adobe Captivate also provides an array of real-life and animated characters which makes designing scenarios in e-learning quite fun. With Adobe Captivate, you can capture high-definition application simulations and videos and easy-to-edit and user-friendly timeline. Perhaps Captivate application simulation is the best in the market that not only captures your screen in high-def but also allows you to create a demo, try-me and test-me versions in a single capture. Captivate also allows you to create responsive content that can be adapted to various devices, such as desktop, ipad, or mobile phone. The same content can be adapted to various devices and you don't need to create multiple projects.
Adobe Captivate version 10 also allows you to create VR projects and import 360-degree media assets.
You can publish content in HTML5, SWF, MP4, and PDF formats. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The slides do not offer the functionality of slide layers that Storyline offers. I think this is one feature that Captivate should include as it makes creating interactive slides easier and reduces the number of slides. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Adobe Captivate is a fantastic program for any e-learning courses that you're looking to design. Whether you want to use animation, voice-over, issue quizzes, or build in logic, Captivate can do it all. It's mobile responsive, and can adapt to any environment your end user may need. As with all Adobe products, it can have a bit of a learning curve. If all you're looking for is quick slides, that's easy. If you're wanting to build in logic, quizzes, or audio, you're going to have to spend a little more time with the program. Thankfully, platforms like Lynda.com and LinkedIn Learning have lots of educational content. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
With Adobe Captivate, you can output in different modes as software simulation, software usage coordination, and software usage experiment. With this tool, you can interactively transfer the use of any software to your attendees, create quizzes where you can get feedback from within the application, and track their results through the Adobe Connect server. First of all, It doesn't fully support GIF images. Also, the cost of a higher subscription is expensive. Generally, I see these disadvantages of Adobe Captivate. In my opinion, all features else is good. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Ability to create responsive e-learning, which includes Question banks and assessments with full SCORM compliance. I also love the ability to publish content out to Youtube, and the ability to embed vimeo videos. The latest feature I have started to use is the ability to call slides up during a embedded video!. Design haven’t changed much over the years. Sometime you just want the ability to create something really simple like a scorm embed of a video, captivate doesn't do this that well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Advanced interactions are designed well, especially if you have any programming experience. They are designed in a very similar style to using action script in flash, which I believe is probably deliberate on Adobe’s part. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It’s overly complicated. Even basic course builds can be time consuming and the need to add navigation buttons to courses manually/build templates is a bit of a pain. Alternatives exist which just work better and quicker. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Captivate is easy to use. It's simple to get started and make some great content. I also really like the software simulation and video capture options. You can record your software and edit your training in one software. Each update gives more and more functionality and improvement. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It can be clunky when you start using more of the advanced option so it can take some patience. Also with the depreciation of flash you wont be able to use some of the feature in captivate to build training Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like the fact that I can create fun videos and animations, but lacks easy to use features for newbies. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It's not user-friendly, it's hard to do things in it, I'd prefer using sony video maker than this program. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I used to make online learning tutorials for my company and Captivate made this process so easy! The videos came out wonderful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Nothing I can think of. Captivate was easy to use and simple, but still had all the tools and features I needed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Adobe Captivate is the best Learning management system I have ever come across when we consider the features required in an LMS software; there is no other software come even close to Captivate. First of all the Interface is good, you can customize it into great detail and personalization that everyone can adapt to its environment. When it comes to adding users, it's straightforward, you can even add users from a list with just the press of a button. The software is straightforward to learn unlike most of the other Adobe products which have a steep learning curve, I managed to learn it within a week. creating content is also superb with drag function, multi-angle views, subtitles, and much more features. you can create great commentary with learning presentations in which media can be added in many formats including videos, text, infographics and much more. the support is really nice, they reply fairly quick to your query, also the build in tutorials are really good. least but not least they got one of the best Text to speech software builds into the software, you need to download an additional two gigabytes or so content but the quality of the TTS is absolutely fantastic. the software takes huge amounts of system resources and even the installation is over 4 GIgabytes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like that I can pretty much do whatever I can dream up with Captivate. It gives you tremendous control over every single element that's on the screen and has the ability to control even more with advanced actions, variables, and java script. I've never used Stroyline (Captivate's top competitor), but in my opinion, Captivate's user interface is clean and easy to navigate. I also love the use of styles in Captivate. I can create just about anything and give it a style. Any updates I make to that style can be applied across everything within that style. I also love the smart shapes in Captivate. There are dozens of shapes you can draw and you can tie advanced actions to them, use them as buttons, use them to call variables...the possibilities are endless. I highly recommend using them. I've heard that the learning curve for getting up to speed with Storyline is much lower versus Captivate. Captivate is not always the most intuitive - you really have to tell is exactly what you want each object to do...there are very few things that have built in functionality. Everything is controlled through Advanced Actions, and it can get clunky, confusing, and time consuming. I hear Storyline lets you control all of an objects actions and conditions from a single panel. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
-Busting with features all in one place
-VR support- this is a growing and untapped area; if you have an interest in VR Education then, you should try Captivate Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There is a learning curve- which is not so much a negative but just know you have to dive in and learn the product because it is so robust. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Captivate allows authors to create complex content. Features like Geo location, mobile gesture recognition, virtual reality, responsive content creation using fluid boxes help in creation of immersive content. I like that tool gives enough power to authors to control learning outcome using custom logic and allows authors to view content as consumers of content would see it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Tool is not easy to use, and new authors need to invest time to effectively use Captivate. Content creation process has a legacy feel to it and lacks seamless and effortless interfaces provided by some cloud-based tools. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Love the versatility. The editing authoring options built in. The interactive features. Ability to do software simulations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Multiple project combinations creates clunky, unreliable output. Have to jump through hoops to get output you need. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Very easy to screen capture, and if set up correctly, can have a working software simulation in about an hour. The ability to adjust the timeline and preview right away is really helpful and saves a lot of time editing. I LOVE the ability to view your SCORM file on the could without having to publish to anything. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Steep learning curve. I've been using for a year and there is still plenty to learn. Mostly regarding animations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Zoom is one of the best platforms in this class that I like, it is very easy to access it, you can do it from your smartphone or from your laptop, it is the best option to make videoconferences, maintaining video and sound quality.
It is the best option I can find to make videoconferences, participate in webinars, I am totally satisfied with Zoom. I love it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Basic functionality is as promised and delivers well done screen captures and training content. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Like other Adobe products, I found it to be difficult to fully utilize as a learning user. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like the variety of output you can create, whether simulations, traditional self-paced instruction, or a flash video for the en user. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It does NOT play nicely with Windows 10. I've lost easily 300 hours of work, even when using 'save as' and naming my work in progress. While I should be able to recover Captivate files from the Cache, this only works about 40% of the time when using the two most recent versions of Captivate with Windows 10. My colleagues all have machines with Windows 7, so they have not experienced the multitude of problems I have with this product Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like that the software is very robust and has a lot of features that you can add into any training course you are creating and a great variety of assessment question types. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I don't like that the software is not backwards compatible. Which means if you work with a team and one of you has a new version of the software, anything that they create cannot be opened or modified by anyone that hasn't upgraded to the new version. Also, if you open a captivate project with the newer version, it will then save it as the new version. the only workaround I have found is I must keep multiple versions of Captivate on my laptop until everyone upgrades. The software does use a lot of memory as well and tends to take awhile to open and close Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The new and enhanced interactive features are done well in Adobe Captivate. Once the 360° images or videos are imported, it allows course creator to add pointers for information, quizzes, audio files or points to navigate through the course. The learning retention is very high when it is interactive and it also helps in demos, walkthroughs and enables action oriented engaged learning. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Cache can get a bit heavy when using Video resources. Ensure sufficient memory space. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
For creating simulations and demos, screen grabs and recordings are very important. The options for quick and decent quality recordings and import are available in just a few click. These are important to make courses interactive and easy to learn. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
When the work involves heavy media files, storage and sharing is very important. Cloud storage instead of system hard drive will be good. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Whats nice about Adobe Captivate is the various themes available based on the style or type of learning you want to create. There are options for backgrounds, fonts, themes etc.. Themes can be saved as well for reusing later. The fluid boxes also makes customization easy for various devices that learners will use for their elearning. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It takes time to build courses from scratch. More templates and themes for different industry or verticals will be very helpful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
