If you're using these programs in the same way, chances are, you're not optimizing your time! Adobe Bridge's strength? Its free! That's awesome if you're just starting out as a photographer, great for hobbyists who are starting to take their image workflow up a notch (.RAW). But if you're using Bridge to simply view photos and cull them, Photo Mechanic is a much better tool (Pro: faster! Con: $$) than either Bridge or Lightroom, for simple culling purposes. If you're actually editing in Bridge, its not as great as Lightroom, in terms of editing capabilities. And if you're just viewing/culling in Bridge, its not as fast as Photo Mechanic. I love the visualization capabilities. If you are a Mac user, you know how annoying it can be to change views while searching through your files, however, Adobe Bridge solves that problem. The only thing I don't like about the program is the inability to view After Effects and Premiere Pro files. You can see the large icons but not their content. It would be great if they could create the possibility to open a small preview of the file, even in images, this would help a lot compared to having to open the software directly to see the video content. I like all the options available for editing raw images. The multiple features available for tweaking, like temperature, clarity, whites, etc. are exactly what editors and photographers need to subtly better images and drastically alter the looks of images. It may seem small, but I really wish the undo/redo features were better on Bridge. A few of the brush features aren't able to do undo/redo, which requires the editor to completely delete the previous work and then redo it completely. I do also think it would be nice to have masking features in Bridge, like there are in Photoshop. That way, a majority of the editing could be done in just Bridge instead of using both Bridge and Photoshop together to edit a photo. I also wish the size of the brush could go smaller when editing. Bridge is an excellent digital asset management software which acts also as a hub for all of Adobe Creative Suite. I normally use it to peruse photos that i've shot for clients or fine art projects and then open them in Adobe photoshop. I love the merge feature, which does a great job of creating panoramas from multiple images. I prefer it to Adobe Lightroom. It's simple and it works, very handy app . I could not find how to force it to open images in photoshop 8, rather than the update, photoshop 9, in other words to change the default application for opening raw image and jpegs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

First of all, the application is free, and this greatly benefits our company by providing a great contribution thanks to Adobe.

It is ideal for being able to view many photos side by side. We need to do this all the time to choose the best photos to show to clients, so they are not searching through hundreds to choose from. It is also ideal for processing raw images that we have to do for each photo session. We select the best photos using the star rating system.

Open all the images at once and choose to process them individually or in groups. I also love the batch renaming feature. That is useful for renaming tons of images when we put them on our website. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It uses a lot of RAM, it can make the computer really slow if there are more programs open at the same time.

It can also move slowly on its own, if I am processing images, I cannot save the images and process them at the same time. I have to process them all and then save them, which wastes time because then I'm just sitting doing nothing while they save, which also takes a bit of time. I've found this is the best way for me to be able to preview the large image files, PSDs, etc. that our graphic designers and photographers send over for review. Bridge allows me to preview these files in a grid view/thumbnail view without having to open each individual file. This is also a great way for me to rate images on a 1-5 star scale within Bridge then sort by star rating. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

When Bridge works, it's great. When it doesn't, it's extremely frustrating. I find that it crashes quite a bit when loading previews to very large images and the load times can be really long. It also can take a long time to cache folders if you're doing a search. For example, now that we're adding more metadata to the files such as keywords, the search function can take a really long time to perform it's job. Or I've even had the program crash before when trying to do a simple search. But like I said earlier, when it works, it's great. When it doesn't, it's extremely frustrating.
