It allows us to generate detailed productivity reports and effectively control which websites and applications employees can access. The software installs through an invisible agent on one or multiple workstations, enabling activity tracking without impacting user performance. It collects valuable data such as visited URLs, window titles, and screenshots, giving administrators clear visibility into how devices are being used. The screenshot feature allows administrators to see exactly what the user sees on their screen and can be triggered by alerts, keywords, or scheduled at specific intervals. Additionally, the ability to remotely shut down applications and receive notifications for flagged activity helps improve team productivity while ensuring data protection. Overall, ActivTrak has been a dependable tool that not only enhances employee productivity but also helps safeguard our data. **What do you dislike about ActivTrak?** As an area for improvement, the website blocking feature could be more flexible. It would be helpful to allow administrators to manually add and block specific websites directly, rather than only being able to select sites that have been previously visited. **Recommendations to others considering ActivTrak:** A reliable supervision tool even allows you to block certain websites to control our company better. You can view the remote desktop without being noticed. Take control over a workstation. Whole picture of software and hardware usage. The intensity of use and registry of states. ActivTrak is an employee monitoring and productivity measurement platform that enables companies to gain insight into and improve employee productivity. The solution allows users to block employees from accessing specific websites, create alarms to capture unauthorized activity, and monitor web and app usage and traffic to safeguard the organization. **What problems is ActivTrak solving and how is that benefiting you?** In my company, we work with a lot of vendors. And the screenshots have helped us to resolve misunderstandings with them. ActivTrak website blocking provides information on low productivity websites or distracting activities that should be blocked to specific users, groups, or all workstations at once. We are able to see what our employees are doing, if they are going to any prohibited sites or are just sitting idle. So many wonderful options and the price is reasonable as well. We thought this person was lying to us and as soon as we got ActivTrak it confirmed our suspisions right away and we were able to gather about a week of evidence and fire this person. Although we never want to see this happen we are really glad to have this software to make sure it will never happen again. There is also an excessive amount of unnecessary data collected, seemingly just to create KPIs for 'performance' metrics, which feels like an attempt to justify pushing customers toward the higher priced plans and upgrades. The service demands constant, high-touch maintenance, often requiring dedicated staff just to keep things running. Additionally, the agent installations are generally unstable and frequently stop reporting. The cancellation process is particularly poor—clearly designed to be difficult, as you can't simply opt out of renewal or cancel through the same dashboard used for payments or upgrading your plan. Sales management is tough enough in person, but the ability to see if they are doing the job or not is a big benefit. This is just one of the many tools I look at to determine their productivity, and it should not be the only one you use to help you manage. However, it is a great asset especially when someone is not performing to get some possible insights as to why. **What do you dislike about ActivTrak?** It does feel a little big brotherish to check what they are doing, but like I said, it is only one tool that I use, and it compliments other tools. **What problems is ActivTrak solving and how is that benefiting you?** When you share an office with your direct reports, you can get a sense of what they are doing on a daily basis. You will know who is connecting with clients based on what you hear on the phone and see in the sales metrics. When they work remote it is harder to tell where their focus is at. We have learned a lot about giving our sales guys some breaks and just taking some time to get off the phones and relax a little. The use was very simple and laid out very good. **What do you dislike about ActivTrak?** The downsides are that you have to have 5 licenses as the minumum. We only wanted one to try it out and see how it works and if it would be a good system for us. **What problems is ActivTrak solving and how is that benefiting you?** It is solving burnout. Being able to see overall productivity and then break it down by web and application usage is wonderful. Really helps us understand who is active and being productive versus slacking off on company time. Was wonderful to configure it through Azure AD, just add whoever we want to an Azure group and that user begins to be monitored. **What do you dislike about ActivTrak?** Hard to find much fault in ActivTrak. We did spend a little time helping train it to understand what apps were productive versus non-productive but I wouldn't really call that out as a dislike, it can't have perfect knowledge. About the only area I mildly dislike is how aggressive it is tracking users. If a 'tracked' user logs into a new device that new device is added but the old device is still in the system and whoever logs into it is also tracked. Have had to add those users to an exclusion list. **What problems is ActivTrak solving and how is that benefiting you?** Verifying employees are actually working and using the systems that we supply them. It would be nice if we could mark specific categories (e.g. shopping) to default to "unproductive" while still requiring an approval on the classifiction. Great Tool for Assessing Productivity **Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Verified User in Legal Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.) **Reviewed Date:** November 14, 2023 **What do you like best about ActivTrak?** Allows our organization to keep a pulse on remote workers productivity/activity levels and compare it to their on-site counterparts. ActivTrak offers a variety of different reports, filters, and other tools to help us sort through the data in a meaningful way. We can see things from a very high level if we are looking for a quick snapshot for a user or group of users, but it also offers the very detailed information necessary for drilling-down to a see something as detailed as a user's click-by-click history during specific timeframe or within a specific application. **What do you dislike about ActivTrak?** This has been a very useful oversight tool for our organization! There is nothing I would categorize as as a true dislike, but rather some suggestions for enhancements. Enhancement Wishlist: It would be helpful if we could categorize an application or website as productive/unproductive for a specific timeframe as well as the current option to categorize it differently for a specific user or user group to reflect a more accurate picture of productivity levels over a period of time. As an example, in the legal industry there are times when searching social media platforms may be part of working a specific case for a legal assistant, but outside of that very specific timeframe it is not something the assistant should be accessing. Also, integration with HRIS/Payroll platforms to easily see activity/productivity levels while on the clock (for hourly employees), would make it much easier to understand productivity levels during paid time, rather than exporting reports from two different systems and marrying the two in excel, then recalculating after removing activity from break periods, and other non-working hours. Change how terminated employee/inactive user accounts are handled. It would be nice to be able to deactivate/archive these users without having to choose between either losing all of the historical data or having to merge the unused accounts into one combined account which uses up a license and makes it a little more tricky to get a snapshot or detailed information you need specific to an old user. **What problems is ActivTrak solving and how is that benefiting you?** Allows our organization to keep a pulse on remote workers productivity/activity levels and compare it to their on-site counterparts.
