**What do you like best about ActivTrak?**

Tracking website usage and " on and off" the laptop time has been very beneficial to our org. Managers often question rather or not an employee is "online", this software helps with that better that looking though audit logs in Azure

**What do you dislike about ActivTrak?**

The way it allows you to use Entra groups is good but if you dont know what you are doing or if your structure is wrong it will pull in the wrong people or none at all. 

**What problems is ActivTrak solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are a remote company and with this comes the needs to track the activity of our end users. This helps us see what they are doing, when and for how long. This gives our managers a peace of mind knowing that their employees are working and not slacking off.

**What do you like best about ActivTrak?**

What I like  best about ActivTrak is the visibility we get when employees are working remotely, as on occasion they will need to do so and borrow a company laptop. It's easy to understand AND visualize how work is getting done without us having to constantly check-in, which may feel uncomfortable for our employees. We were not expecting so much utility out of something like this, so being able to see their productivity trends, time spent on tasks, application usage etc. was a wealth of information to have on hand. Being able to ensure accountability without micromanaging is really the best aspect of ActivTrak. Additionally, the UI is simple enough to learn and navigate which is always a plus.

**What do you dislike about ActivTrak?**

In our case, since it is mostly for occasional remote work situations, there's been a bit of a learning curve when figuring out how to best us all the features ActivTrak comes with. Some reports and data were a little tricky to interpret at first.

**What problems is ActivTrak solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps solve the lack of visibility that comes with remote work, especially when this work-setup is only temporary, and it saves me time and effort by giving quick insight into what is getting done, so that I don't have to follow-up constantly.

**What do you like best about ActivTrak?**

ActivTrak has proven to be a highly reliable solution that fully meets our monitoring and productivity needs. It allows us to generate detailed productivity reports and effectively control which websites and applications employees can access.

The software installs through an invisible agent on one or multiple workstations, enabling activity tracking without impacting user performance. It collects valuable data such as visited URLs, window titles, and screenshots, giving administrators clear visibility into how devices are being used.

The screenshot feature allows administrators to see exactly what the user sees on their screen and can be triggered by alerts, keywords, or scheduled at specific intervals. Additionally, the ability to remotely shut down applications and receive notifications for flagged activity helps improve team productivity while ensuring data protection.

Overall, ActivTrak has been a dependable tool that not only enhances employee productivity but also helps safeguard our data.

**What do you dislike about ActivTrak?**

As an area for improvement, the website blocking feature could be more flexible. It would be helpful to allow administrators to manually add and block specific websites directly, rather than only being able to select sites that have been previously visited.

**Recommendations to others considering ActivTrak:**

A reliable supervision tool even allows you to block certain websites to control our company better. You can view the remote desktop without being noticed. Take control over a workstation. Whole picture of software and hardware usage. The intensity of use and registry of states.

ActivTrak is an employee monitoring and productivity measurement platform that enables companies to gain insight into and improve employee productivity. The solution allows users to block employees from accessing specific websites, create alarms to capture unauthorized activity, and monitor web and app usage and traffic to safeguard the organization.

**What problems is ActivTrak solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In my company, we work with a lot of vendors. And the screenshots have helped us to resolve misunderstandings with them.

ActivTrak website blocking provides information on low productivity websites or distracting activities that should be blocked to specific users, groups, or all workstations at once. Alarms can be configured to trigger screenshots, pop-ups to device users, email notifications to account administrators, as well as the remote shutdown of open applications on devices.

Recent weather events gave us a great opportunity to demonstrate that our team can work remotely while staying fully productive and efficient. Operations continued without disruption, communication remained strong, and service levels were maintained. This showed that remote work is a reliable option when needed and that the team adapts well to changing conditions.

ctivTrak has helped us address two key challenges: visibility into employee productivity and identifying areas for operational improvement.

Before ActivTrak, it was difficult to get an accurate picture of how time was being used across teams. Now, we can see detailed activity patterns, which makes it easier to:

Pinpoint workflow bottlenecks and process inefficiencies

Identify training needs and skill gaps

Ensure time is spent on high-priority tasks

Balance workloads more effectively across the team

**What do you dislike about ActivTrak?**

All they seem to care about is locking customers into auto renewal and charging for another full year, whether you are using the product or not. In my case, the business division using ActivTrak no longer existed, the service was no longer needed, and instead of working toward a reasonable resolution, they kept repeating the same contract language and avoided directly answering my questions.

What frustrated me most was not just the invoice, it was the canned responses. I asked for the signed order form, the renewal details, and clear answers to specific billing questions. Instead, I got the same recycled explanation about notice periods.

If you do business with ActivTrak, watch your renewal date very carefully, because once they renew you, do not expect much flexibility or a real conversation. My experience was that billing enforcement mattered a lot more than customer goodwill.

I like how ActivTrak gives visibility into different types of behaviors, allowing me to mentor those specific things. As a manager, I appreciate the weekly email that provides trends, helping me monitor my team's activity, especially looking for unexpected changes. When there is a drop in activity and I'm not aware of anyone being out, it prompts me to check further. Additionally, from what I've seen, the setup is pretty straightforward, and it seems fairly easy to integrate if updates are needed.

I just don't log in to it enough. So maybe a little bit more detail in that weekly email would be helpful.

I like the snapshot view of activities in ActivTrak. It helps us understand what websites our team uses often and also tells us how much time our associates spend on each site. Tracking of productivity works well, allowing us to identify areas needing improvement and understand our technology use. The initial setup was very easy.

ActivTrak adds a user each time our IT admin sets up a new computer for a new user. So in this scenario, the IT admin counts as an additional user when it isn't the case.

We love ActivTrak. We are able to see what our employees are doing, if they are going to any prohibited sites or are just sitting idle. So many wonderful options and the price is reasonable as well. Keep up the great work.

We have not found anything we dislike. They are great about adding features and keeping relevant.

It really solved our problems with Productivity and time theft. We thought this person was lying to us and as soon as we got ActivTrak it confirmed our suspisions right away and we were able to gather about a week of evidence and fire this person. Although we never want to see this happen we are really glad to have this software to make sure it will never happen again. We need active, productive, selling agents in our office, not time stealing, lazy people trying to milk the clock.

Provides timely access to productivity numbers and gives information that allows you to be both proactive and reactive.

The back end can be a bit confusing, particularly when needing to swap devices. You also cannot schedule all the reports for email delivery such as the working hours report.

Ability to detect tracking avoidance cheating, and event screenshots.

**What do you dislike about ActivTrak?**

The rising licensing costs, along with the introduction of new features that are only available as paid add-ons rather than being included in existing plans, are frustrating. There is also an excessive amount of unnecessary data collected, seemingly just to create KPIs for 'performance' metrics, which feels like an attempt to justify pushing customers toward the higher priced plans and upgrades. The service demands constant, high-touch maintenance, often requiring dedicated staff just to keep things running.

Additionally, the agent installations are generally unstable and frequently stop reporting. The cancellation process is particularly poor—clearly designed to be difficult, as you can't simply opt out of renewal or cancel through the same dashboard used for payments or upgrading your plan. While it's easy to increase your bill, reducing or canceling your service is made unnecessarily complicated.

I think, that everything is great. I would like to have little lower pricing for the licences, but that is not connected to the product functionality

We can see what company employees do on the computers during the day. We can measure the effectiveness of employees and departments. Also, we can find some unhealthy behavior in some cases.

ActivTrak has been a game-changer for our team and we use it on daily bases. The level of comprehensive and detailed analytics is outstanding, giving us a clear picture of how work gets done. It's incredibly user-friendly and helps us identify bottlenecks and balance workloads without being invasive. The focus on employee well-being, like burnout detection, is a huge plus. Integration and setup was easy. Highly recommend it for any team, especially remote or hybrid!

What I dislike about ActivTrak is its support system, which, for an enterprise-level product, is insufficient due to its reliance on live chat and a ticket-based system. This approach is inefficient and frustrating when dealing with complex, time-sensitive issues, as it lacks a dedicated customer support agent.

**What problems is ActivTrak solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ActivTrak helps me solve a lot of problems, but the most important one is understanding work overload and user utilization. It's not about spying on people; it's about getting a clear picture of how my team is working, especially since we're remote.

Instead of just guessing, I can see exactly who is consistently putting in long hours, working late, or on weekends. ActivTrak gives me data on how many hours people are truly active and focused versus how much time is spent on non-work activities. This helps me spot potential burnout risks before they become a real problem.

If I notice someone is constantly overutilized, I can step in and rebalance their workload. Or if I see someone who has a lot of idle time, it might be a chance to give them more responsibility or a new project. It helps me make sure everyone is working at a healthy, sustainable pace and that our team is as effective as it can be. Ultimately, it allows me to manage my team with data and empathy, ensuring we're all productive and engaged without sacrificing our well-being.

**What do you like best about ActivTrak?**

You can silently track employees.  They can't see the app on their computer and I can push the client out without them knowing.  It's easy enough to deploy and set up on each person's device.

**What do you dislike about ActivTrak?**

My largest complaint is exporting.  We pay for the extra package that lets us export, but it's not easy to do.  For what we pay for it, it should be more user-friendly.  I shouldn't have to export it from another google account into a 3rd party app.  
2nd, it's hard to view activities for users.  It's buried deep in the menu and is somewhat hard to follow.  The exported CSV files are not easy to read.  
3rd, support is poor.  At best I get links to their support site.  There is no line to call.  
4th, for the above issues I feel that the product is overpriced.

We monitor employees to see that they are being productive.

**What do you like best about ActivTrak?**

Working for a fully remote company and managing 9 direct reports, ActivTrak has made monitoring productivity in a central place a breeze. I am able to easily view employee working hours and time management in a way where I don't need to micromanage them directly. I utilize this program on a weekly basis. Also being able to download reports/data has been extremely helpful in reviewing and presenting data to our company board. This program has helped us retain good employees, as well as making necessary adjustments when employees are not meeting working hours expectations. I believe this program played a major part in our company remaining fully remote for the past 5 years.

**What do you dislike about ActivTrak?**

Sometimes reporting won't load correctly and I have to refresh a few times. There have been instances where productivity isn't being tracked when an employee is actively working.

**What do you like best about ActivTrak?**

I get a lot of insight from different levels.  I can see some high level macro information and some incredible details like screenshots and real snapshots in time.  We tend to roll a large amount of the ActivTrak data up into a macro perspective for our own internal purposes but there is a plethora of details available inside the application.  The product allowed our staff to function fully remote when needed then eventually into our current hybrid model and there is a consistent data and feedback loop on productivity heat maps for most used and least used applications as well.

**What do you dislike about ActivTrak?**

Perception and trust between staff and employer.  I think management sees the value of the product but often times this can create a conflict with the staff.  

Secondly I think the load times on generating some reports through the application are lengthy which pulls me outside of the platform.

**What problems is ActivTrak solving and how is that benefiting you?**

High level - full work days when not in office.  Micro level - when an issue arises I can go back and get an independent unbiased information about an interaction or process

**What do you like best about ActivTrak?**

I love the fact that I can see what my remote associates are doing during the day.  Sales management is tough enough in person, but the ability to see if they are doing the job or not is a big benefit.  This is just one of the many tools I look at to determine their productivity, and it should not be the only one you use to help you manage.  However, it is a great asset especially when someone is not performing to get some possible insights as to why.

**What do you dislike about ActivTrak?**

It does feel a little big brotherish to check what they are doing, but like I said, it is only one tool that I use, and it compliments other tools.

**What problems is ActivTrak solving and how is that benefiting you?**

When you share an office with your direct reports, you can get a sense of what they are doing on a daily basis.  You will know who is connecting with clients based on what you hear on the phone and see in the sales metrics.  When they work remote it is harder to tell where their focus is at.  If you have people struggling this is one way to see what they are filling their time with.

**What do you like best about ActivTrak?**

It's an easy to set up system out of the box - you can deploy to the users or install individually on machines. There's a nice UX that's easy for managers to interact and understand, but also very granular event log data available. Having tested it on my own workstation for ~six months, it presents a pretty accurate reality of at least the time spent there and excludes times I am in in-person meetings.

**What do you dislike about ActivTrak?**

Our past vendor had a productivity score and that was at times useful at a glance. Arguably in the context of using other KPI's to measure productivity and this as a function of when the user is at their desk engaging with approved appications, its probably unneccessary and a little more prone to manipulation by an employee.

**What problems is ActivTrak solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We don't use this as a way to understand or measure productivity - we have output metrics for that. But for cases when there are productivity issues, it's useful data and useful to compare against other counterparts within a department. In the world of remote working, have those baselines and the data, there's less guesswork in what an employee is doing with their time when issues are raised.

ActivTrak gives us clear visibility into productivity trends, employee focus time, and where work hours are actually going. It helps us make data-driven decisions around resource allocation and process improvement. The insights are actionable, and the platform is fairly easy to navigate once you're familiar with it.

**What do you dislike about ActivTrak?**

The billing and subscription management is a disaster. You can’t update payment methods or subscription info on your own, you have to go through a rep. But reps aren’t listed anywhere, aren’t easy to contact, and you end up having to go through customer support just to get the name of your rep so you can ask for basic account changes. It creates a slow, frustrating chain of communication. Worse, this leads to sensitive payment info being passed around through multiple people, which feels incredibly insecure and unnecessary. For a company focused on monitoring and control, ActivTrak offers zero of it when it comes to your own billing.

**What problems is ActivTrak solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use ActivTrak in the most basic way: to track hours worked, monitor productivity trends, and ensure company devices aren’t being used extensively for personal activity during work hours. It gives us a high-level view of how time is spent and helps with accountability, especially for our teams. It's not solving any deeply strategic problems for us, but it does provide a layer of operational visibility that we didn’t have before.

The layout of the website is easy to navigate and it has a simple way to implement licenses to users. The customer support is always helpful and we usually hear back very soon after a ticket is submitted.

It is difficult to interpret all of the various reports that are available. It would be nice to have an AI summary or some sort of summary to give to the leadership team so we could spend less time investigating.

I feel since our company started using ActivTrak it has been a very valuable tool to help manage a remote workforce.  It helps ensure our associates are present and logged in, and are working on the types of things we expect them to be working on, and not wasting time on unproductive tasks.

It can be a bit difficult to drill down to the data you want at times and the system can be very slow at times.

ActivTrak is very detailed, showing me down to the second how long a staff was looking at a webpage or application.

All of the tiers seem unnecessary. I feel like we paid a significant chunk of change for the basic package but are extremely limited on the available reports and detailed information like specific webpages are only available through upgrading. It's frustrating that we were able to see more information in the trial then we can now.

We have uncovered staff working too many hours and also staff visiting websites that are not work related.

I imagine the depth is there for folks that want it.  We use it for website tracking for the most part.  I do enjoy that the company seems engaged with their admin users.

**What do you dislike about ActivTrak?**

It loads incredibly slow.  It's like using a filter on a website with 10 million items, every single click causes the page to load, and it takes a lifetime to get what you need.  Ultimately, it's just too much to setup.  I think the program is effective, but you'd likely need serious commitment to dial in all the monitoring features.  This may not be something they can help but for example, I was spending a couple hours a day simply classifying websites that my users had visited.  It would be great to have a way to classify those more quickly.

To summarize: It's slow, and while it gives you data, it's not in an easy to read format.

ActivTrack fils the exact need that my client had to manage their employees and monitor productivity.

It has a lot of features but at this point it's excessive and overwhelming.

**What do you dislike about ActivTrak?**

Terrible customer service, deceptive business practices, and now the price is way higher than any of the competitors, but they don't inform you of your upcoming renewal amount anymore so you won't have time to cancel before renewal.

Remote staff productivity and overall company workload.

It gives me detail information of each computer use to keep tract. I usually check monitors of the residents, who are using what, so that they are tracked and give proper discipline as needed.

I don't have anything but the link of the screen may be able to get in so that I don't have to go back and check website they used.

  ### 46. Struggle To Find Any Value with the Software

**What do you like best about ActivTrak?**

Collects a lot of data. Teetering on the side of too much.

**What do you dislike about ActivTrak?**

As an IT admin, I've ran into countless issues with ActivTrak. Installing can be inconsistent. There are times when I've verified that the software was installed yet they were not showing up in the admin panel. Incredibly confusing UI for both the IT admins and managers in charge of tracking their employees. Also, we've ran into an interesting issue where PCs would be thrown into the "Do Not Track" list when no one from my team did. When they're on that list, all previous data is deleted and cannot be recovered which is frustrating when we need to see that rep's tracking history. Also removing them from that list doesn't recover them most of the time and they completely disappear from the admin panel despite having the software installed on their PCs. Overall, I'd recommend either trusting your employees more, implementing incentives to drive out undesired behavior, or shopping around for a different tracking software.

Performance reports but not very good at it.

I love that I can see active vs passive time as well as the Activity Log for any questions I may have surrounding an employee's activity.

Honestly, not much.  The product is very user friendly.

I am able to see in real time an employee's productivity as well as activity.  I have been able to see employee's that are just "clicking around" and not actually working.
