It was fantastic - the functionality was very robust - the most robust I've ever seen. To the point where I started relying on email marketing as the main revenue driver for my business. So why am I giving it a 1-start review? Because in late 2025, my account was shut down for no reason, and without warning. When I tried to log into my account, I just got an error message. I had to reach out to support to find out what happened. At first, I thought it was an ActiveCampaign-wide problem. I waited a day, and tried again. No luck. I waited 2 days and tried again. Still no luck. After 3 days, I started to panic, and emailed customer support. It wasn't an ActiveCampaign problem. It was just my account. When I emailed customer support, they said they're looking into it. When I asked for a deadline, they didn't commit to anything. They usually get back to me quickly, but another couple of days had passed by, I've already lost a lot of money because of this outage, and still no luck. By this point, I started looking into other email marketing providers. By the time they got back to me, I already created an account at a different email marketing provider. When they got back to me, they told me that they're taking so long because it's the holiday season. First of all, bad excuse. The number of days off during the holidays are two: Christmas and New Years. Second of all, a lot of businesses (their customers) make the most sales during the holidays. This is not the time to work less hard on their end. Another couple of days had passed by (I had already started using the other email marketing software), and they told me that it was a mistake on their end that my account was shut down automatically. They reinstated my account, but by then it was too late. This was extremely poorly handled. If my account was shut down, I should have immediately received an email, explaining the situation, and something is being done about it. They should have also been a lot less casual about it. For a business that relies heavily on email marketing, a mistaken shut down should have been top priority. After everything was resolved, as a gesture, ActiveCampaign refunded me for one month of usage. Nice gesture, but I lost a lot more money than that, and I spent a lot more money than that on migrating everything from ActiveCampaign to the new email marketing software. They have some great features, good automation logic and good SMS automation, but most of the best features have been gated behind different paywalls now. The pricing has become overly complex over the years with different add-ons. It was simple and really good for 9 years, but the pricing isn't designed to grow with your business anymore. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about ActiveCampaign? I was on a 25k contacts yearly plan with ActiveCampaign for $3,456.00 that included unlimited email sends. The following year they charged my card for $4,012.20 and reduced the email sends from unlimited to 300k per month. When I emailed them to ask for a refund of the difference and to be put back on the plan I signed up for with unlimited sends, they said it's not possible. They said they migrated me to a new plan which was discounted by 55%, even though it was more expensive and had less features. The company essentially increases pricing on it's customers, removes features, and charges their card without first getting their explicit permission. I asked for a refund of my yearly fee for the first time in 9 years, but they said they can't do full refunds. The way the company handled their pricing increase forced me to switch away from them. I tried to resolve it with their customer service, but they kept trying to negotiate with me on price even when they knew I hadn't given my permission for the plan migration. The icing on the cake for me was when I said I got no notification email sent about the migration to new plans. And they told me they sent me 1 email about it, but couldn't track if I'd received it or not. I sent them a screenshot of all emails I got from their team, proving I didn't receive it. But because they sent 1 email, they assumed I gave permission to migrate my plan. From my perspective what they did was fraudulent. You can't increase pricing on a plan someone signs up on, take away key features, and not get their explicit permission. If you make a major pricing and feature change, you need to give customers a choice if they want to stay or leave before you charge their card. ActiveCampaign don't do this.
