What do you like best about ActiveCampaign?

You could handle most of small business needs with it without spending a lot and most of the tools works pretty well.

You can do a lot of stuff with Automations and sending emails campaigns and creating landing works as good as many other more expensive tools.

The limits on the lower plans are good enough to not be always worry about exceding them. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ActiveCampaign?

I think where they are weakest is in sales/clients followup tools. Managing Deals and activities with contacts (making calls, sending emails, etc) is quite cumbersome and it is difficult to have good visibility of what is going on.

I also think the way of handling Contact Lists / unsuscribes is not optimal, and that the Automations lack some basic functionalities (e.g. updating contact/deal information with dynamic values). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is ActiveCampaign solving and how is that benefiting you?

We handle most of the contact with clients and leads through it. Being able to do it all we need from prospectir to clients follow up from a single tool is really confortable. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about ActiveCampaign?

It contains almost everything we need to manage from the marketing perspective: complete sheets to manage leads, email marketing, automations, forms for the website, integration with many external tools etc.

It shows great value considering quality-price ratio. We use it everyday for all of our marketing activities and were able to easily integrate it in our website and protocol. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ActiveCampaign?

Some features are complicated to manage, as they are not directly connected one another (i.e. fields in the forms are not managed in the same section WEBSITE but I have to search for them inside CONTACTS, which is not very intuitive). Also, the fact that modules do not update automatically inside all the forms they are integrated in might result in difficult management. Also, sometimes I found out some actions were not working by casually checking automations, while I would expect receiving alerts when something is not working fine. Customer support is good, but not always immediate. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is ActiveCampaign solving and how is that benefiting you?

Keeping all the contacts updated and managed at a time. Being able to address potential leads in a multichannel, integrated way through integrations with external platforms and - above all - smoothly working automations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about ActiveCampaign?

ActiveCampaign is a reasonably great solution for my small coaching business's marketing needs. It's easy to navigate UX allows for easy learning & navigation, it includes many features that other platforms do not have, its automation features are superb, reliable, and function well with little to no downtime. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ActiveCampaign?

Despite having great technical features to support complex makreting tasks, the platform lacks modern front-end functionality and has to capability for payment processing which requires that I carry the additional effort & cost of maintaining 3 marketing platforms for my business needs (Kajabi & Wix in addition to ActiveCampaign), the forms lack basic design customization capabilities and feature requests often sit in a queue for years without progress. The recent price increase and elminination of the more basic plan has been a majot disappointment. Not all customers need the advanced features of the new plan. I end up paying for many features I will never use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is ActiveCampaign solving and how is that benefiting you?

MArketing automation is the #1 problems AC solves for my business Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about ActiveCampaign?

Customer service has been a lifesaver in many situations—they're always willing to help. I also really appreciate the new changes that improve the user experience. For example, being able to view tags, segments, and lists all in one place before sending an email has been incredibly helpful. Additionally, since upgrading to the Enterprise plan, having access to email previews has been a game-changer for testing. I am also excited to use the new AI features - I would love to have more B2B specific features. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ActiveCampaign?

ActiveCampaign has made significant improvements recently, which is great to see. However, many of the integrations depend on Zapier, so if you don’t use Zapier, you may find yourself needing to set up a lot of custom configurations. Additionally, the integration with Dynamics 365 could use some refinement. Lastly, there are still some quirks in the system. For example, if you add someone to the exclusion list using their full email address and they are later added back to a list via automation, they are automatically removed from the exclusion list. This behavior undermines the purpose of an exclusion list, which should be honored under all circumstances. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is ActiveCampaign solving and how is that benefiting you?

We have had integration issues with Dynamics 365 and have been working with Active campaign to resolve it - but have not had a ton of luck -that said it could be more of an issue with dynamics than AC. Also mentioned earlier in my review - the weird issue with exclusion lists is frustrating. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about ActiveCampaign?

The reason I like ActiveCampaign is that it is feature-rich, easy to use, and affordable. I have been using ActiveCampaign for seven years and have found it to be solid and provide an effective platform for sending out my weekly newsletter 'Wisdom Notes'. It was very easy to implement and integrate into my website for my podcast Wisdom-Trek.com. I use it weekly for my email to listeners of my podcast. I have little need to use customer support, but when I have it has been timely Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ActiveCampaign?

The one weak area that I have found is that the text editor could be more robust. For example, there is no 'Undo' feature, so if a mistake is made, it requires more extensive editing than I would prefer. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is ActiveCampaign solving and how is that benefiting you?

While I am not 'selling' any product or service through ActiveCampaign, it does allow me an opportunity to promote my podcast. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about ActiveCampaign?

As I fill out this survey, it's interesting that it still showed my old (and quite negative) review that I'm now typing over. Makes me wonder if the old one ever got posted - though I did receive my gift card for writing the review.

The good news is that AC has improved since the last review. They finally seem to have focused on core improvements that affect the average user such as myself rather than blatantly catering to high end corporate accounts.

They offer solid tools for automation and contact relations that allow me to engage with my audience, make offers and track their responses and activity. Basically, the things you would want and expect from a high end CRM. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ActiveCampaign?

While they've improved considerably since my last review, I think there are ways they could be better. While improving many of the core features, there are many areas that lack an intuitive approach. So even if you think you understand what a particular function does - especially if you've seen similar functions in another service - it's best to double check with online tech support (which is usually helpful) to make sure it's going to work the way you think it will.

My main browser is Safari, and for whatever reason, AC continues to not want to support Safari, and simply won't function well in many critical areas - forcing me to use Chrome for it to work properly. A bit of a PIA. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is ActiveCampaign solving and how is that benefiting you?

I use ActiveCampaign as my CRM. As my list grows, I use their automations to welcome new subscribers and email campaigns to maintain contact, share valuable content and alert them to upcoming offers. I teach online webinars and virtual courses, and use automations to send sequences of emails based on various parameters of how people interact with the courses. This saves a lot of time without having to manually track what everyone is doing. My contacts also get tagged based on their interests and what courses they have purchased, allowing me to customize what communications get sent to each individual.

When it works, it's great. But there have been issues that have worked against me, and that's frustrating. The interface isn't always intuitive, some important settings are not in obvious places and can be missed, and the results of this can be very counterproductive. I've also learned that asking for support through email is basically useless in these instances and to always use the chat - which sometimes means waiting until its available if it's offline when you need it.

Many of the things in the list of "select all that apply" are things that I either use very little or not at all because there are simply other tools outside of AC that work considerably better and are easier/more intuitive to use. Things like the email template builder and the landing page builder. While they've improved these things, there are still aspects of it all that are quite arcane. It's difficult to understand that with the teams they have to develop these features that they can't bring them up to level of ease, intuitiveness and function that other more dedicated platforms provide. What do you like best about ActiveCampaign?

I love all the features around automation. It's flexible and allows me to do most of what we want to do. And the pricing for the mid-tier level that we use is competitive.

UPDATE 12/2024 - ActiveCampaign raised their prices. They did not handle the communication of this change well, and they seriously damaged my trust in them. Still a customer as I can't find a viable alternative. But I'm looking. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ActiveCampaign?

It's very difficult to see what's happening across the overall landscape of our implementation (this is not really unique to AC). We run a lot of automations, and unwinding them to figure out what's going when and how our subscribers are being affected is really difficult. I usually figure out after the fact.

Also, support is not always willing to admit when there is an issue that is caused by the product rather than by the user. Like with most SaaS companies, support is mostly there for beginners and doesn't have the background to support power users as much as I'd like.

The reporting is very limited unless we jump to a much higher price point. And the pipeline functionality is sub-optimal for corporate sales. But at least they have something. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is ActiveCampaign solving and how is that benefiting you?

It helps me run sophisticated funnels around events, webinars, and product offerings. We run both promotional and post sale automations. We use tagging to handle attribution. It's not good at giving us deep analysis, but I can run automations based on behavior that occurs.

I wish I could do more analysis of conversions and customer journeys. But I cannot. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about ActiveCampaign?

I’ve been quoted an outrageous $15,000 just to unlock my account so it can resume sending emails. The new pricing plans are absolutely abysmal, prioritizing profit over customer experience. This is the second overcharge in a week—$3,000 earlier, and now this $15,000 bill. To make matters worse, their system claims my account sent 1.4 million emails (which it hasn’t—I've checked their reports), yet they still expect me to pay for it?

My account rep is nowhere to be found and claims he has no power to fix this. Live chat support is clueless and unable to help. I’ve submitted 16 tickets, and not a single one has been answered. No one from the company has reached out to resolve this. Meanwhile, we're receiving 40+ complaints daily from customers because our automated emails aren’t sending.

This is beyond unacceptable—it’s a complete breakdown of customer service and operational accountability. What a joke. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ActiveCampaign?

Long time customer, since 2014. Ive watched this company since about 2020, put profit over product. Active camapign was always product first, not sure where it changed but it was sometime around 2020. Increased fees for no usable features, you get less for more, its a shame. I'll be moving our 31 clients off active campaign this year and myself. Profit over product always loses Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about ActiveCampaign?

Pros:

• The level I needed to start (less than 1000) was not too expensive

• Scheduling/setting up emails is very easy

• Easy graphic design for emails

• Easy navigating of general tabs

• Contacts are easy to filter (tags, etc)

• General connectivity/integration (of information) of the app is great

• Good, uncomplicated form builder Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ActiveCampaign?

Cons:

• Reports feature is confusing until you really learn it (It’s not easy for someone who doesn’t know how to navigate it fluently)

• Not beginner user-friendly with overall features (my admin has marketing experience, so the features were easier to use, but if she had not used other platforms, it wouldn’t have been as easy to navigate).

• We had an issue integrating Paypal recurring payments with the campaign and I'm not sure if it's solved yet (and honestly don't know if it's a Paypal issue instead). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is ActiveCampaign solving and how is that benefiting you?

I was in Keap for many years, but I mainly used it for my newsletter and it became very expensive. I asked my VA for a recommendation and she suggested Active Campaign. The cost for the number of contacts I currently have was more reasonable, so we made the switch. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about ActiveCampaign?

I love that it integrates with so many other solutions. It's easy to go to Zapier and create zaps to integrate active campaign with our website, our landing, pages, Google Sheets, Trello, Slack, and many more solutions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ActiveCampaign?

I dislike the pricing model. It almost feels like we are penalized for growing our database because the more people in there, the more expensive it gets. I also don't know that I feel that it's incredibly intuitive. I spend a lot of time learning how to do things by reading articles in the Support section. I'm usually able to figure it out, but I wish it was more intuitive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is ActiveCampaign solving and how is that benefiting you?

I drive a lot of traffic from my YouTube channel to a landing page. When someone opt in to a free guide, active campaign, delivers the guide and starts an automation. I'm able to tag the contact with things that are relevant to the actions they took. It helps me, be able to mine my database for future sales opportunities and make sure that people are receiving relevant and timely information. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
