What do you like best?

I have been using ACT for 16 years. It is a great program with tons of bells and whistles. We use ACT for our marketing team. We load databases into the ACT to work with our marketing campaigns. Our team is able to create beautiful reports to send to clients. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

ACT is continually upgrading their software and requiring companies to update or lose their support. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Marketing and sales require continual documentation to keep up with appointments and contacts. Their CRM has great tools and alarms to help businesses keep up appointments and tasks at hand. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

The act! For us it is different because we have been able to check directly with the company in order to be able to expand our sales and be able to travel the networks and the internet with a wide level, for us the visibility functionality is very attractive because we have been able to specify with more users , This system can be coupled with the marketing system for the function of expanding our image. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

The system is very complete and detailed, so we have not had a negative point regarding the use, the action of each tool is very detailed and fulfills the attraction of new customers and for us it has been very fundamental and until now we cannot find any errors, but future Act! is possible to continue optimizing to provide quality service as before. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

I definitely recommend it because it has worked perfectly I do not have any kind of inconvenience regarding the function of the system I feel that I can improve adjusting it with the marketing software and the characteristics or tools works in an incredible way expanding the traffic in the, however comparing prices, characteristics , definitive tools leads the way. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

The company has been different since sales problems or simply increasing sales are 2 circumstances why a CRM service can be useful and I like what Act! It offers us the ample traffic and the way in which we can connect with more clients has been very pleasant so I am happy with this function and in addition to being very punctual at work and when it comes to new client traffic, good tool and good coupling with other marketing systems. It's easy to use other than that the company will screw you! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Anytime you have a problem the answer is ALWAYS to pay for the new version. The newer versions are emailed to you, they will NOT provide any physical form of the program. Thus when buying a new computer you MUST buy their newest version of the program even if you don't need it! Otherwise, all your information will be lost because they will not let you have a copy of the program you paid for. NEVER EVER USE the products from these thieves!! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

The program keeps your client relationship information well. But if you switch computers you have to buy their new program. This company does everything in its power to screw its customers Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

ACT! It is a different system from the other CRM we have compared this software with others and it seems that it provides greater solutions at the time of making a sale the CRM is strategic for new customers makes its tool very powerful, it immediately couples any marketing system to provide a greater scope with what I think is a price is very consistent with the tools offered. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

In my opinion, it has been efficient, unlike other systems, however, it seems to me that it should improve, it works correctly and I think that the function is pleasant and I think it can improve its interface in the future. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

You recommend service because for me it worked in no negative point regarding the operation of the system. In my opinion, it offers different solutions to other software, however I think they adjusted a very good service. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

It has points in its favor due to the fact that perfectly the marketing network allows to expand the operation of its service reaching and expanding many more people to bring as traffic on this website in turn the crm sales system allows advertising to be more attractive So that clients can access and make a sale, it seems to me that the operation is incredible and it fits perfectly with our system, the characteristics are incredible. What do you like best?

There is not much I like about this program other than it is somewhat affordable for small to medium businesses. In the age of web based programs, Act is light years behind. The web version is extremely limited and not even worth using. The email marketing option is so cumberom and very user unfriendly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

This program has been sold many times since it was originally released. At this point, the support is awful and Swiftpage the new owner, constantly forces updates that break our database. We tired the marketing automation and that was even worse. If this CRM can survive, they need a complete overhaul. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Don't waste your time. Cross this program off you list. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We ceased using ACT and have just 1 license as a backup to our new CRM. This program did little to solve problems other than store data. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

The idea of what ACT! can do.

In principle the idea is great, when actually implementing the software it fails to deliver at every step. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Nothing is easy, ACT! you can quite easily swallow days or even weeks of precious time with no return. Then when you are on the phone to tech support (they really do try there best) you get charged for the privilege. If you want a system that makes life easy for your business ACT! really isn't to one. What do you like best?

ACT! is a good CRM (Contact Relationship manager) By entering your contacts and their company, you can keep good notes on your activity with a contact at a customer. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

I believe ACT! fails to be a good sales tool. On the surface it has all the components, but everything is driven form the contact. So, if your contact leaves the company, you can lose the ease of looking at the information. It functions well for a sole proprietor, but falls short for a company with multiple sales people and multiple territories Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Choose something else if you are an "enterprise"

ACT! will work for a sole proprietor or a small group. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

What do you like best?

Act! enables me to keep all information about customers, prospects, colleagues and vendors in one place and manage them easily. I also really appreciate the reminders - no more having to remember to call someone back! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Aside from some small things, the only thing I don't like is that I haven't taken the time to learn more about what Act! can do and how I can do it. As for the small things, I wish that, when entering a name to search for, the search is very specific. It'd be nice to have a more forgiving search ("similar to"). Also, if it doesn't find the name, it'd be nice if it would simply say, "Create new contact with this info?" Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Regardless of the size of your company, if you do not have a customer relationship manager to keep track of your business relationships, you are wasting time and energy. ESPECIALLY small companies can't afford that unnecessary waste. You don't have to be a genius or a numbers person to get some value right away. So go! Get Act! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

ACT! is user friendly, robust, easily handles data and manipulation and helps keep me in close contact with my client base. Have used it for years, since the training was on cassette tape, and rarely had any problems with the software or updates. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

The e-mail interface occasionally goes down but closing and rebooting the computer have corrected it. Just inconvenient but doesn't happen often. With the change of ownership, the customer service level has changed which has occasionally been frustrating. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

If you are looking for good, reliable SQL contact database management, ACT! is the best choice out there. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Reminders help keep me organized and make sure I follow up with my client base. Easy to do e-mail blasts to my customers or create spreadsheets with selected contacts. Am able to put my database on an iPad device so that I have it when attending trade shows and events so I can easily recall the last interaction with my clients. It's a great piece of software and well-supported over the years. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

The software definitely has a lot of uses when it comes to organizing a client base. Everything from grouping, to attaching documents to your contacts, to setting appointments. It can even be integrated with a few other software platforms such as Mitel. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

ACT!'s interface is fairly outdated. It's reminiscent of 90's era databases. Not unusable, and once you get a hang of it you can start zooming around it pretty easily. But the interface can become confusing and isn't very intuitive at times. There is, without a doubt, a learning curve. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

If you have a lot of files and need something to help you search through them quickly and easily, ACT! is a decent choice. It has a variety of functions on top of organizing contacts and clients. Task managing, scheduling, reports, grouping, and a variety of other things.

However, the UI is a little un-intuitive and visibly outdated.

Additionally, support for ACT! is a little slow. It often requires a phone call and lengthy back and forth.

Overall, the software does its job well, so long as the user is able to overcome the learning curve required to efficiently utilize it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Organizing a large amount of contacts, documents, and files into an easily searchable database with multiple methods of querying information. We've managed to take what would have been a records room worth of files and placed it into a database we can easily search through. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Act! allows us to manage all of our customer data and is a useful tool for reviewing historic notes relating to our customers. With several departments within our business, all can access predetermined areas with specific read and write privileges. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Act! is quite difficult to manage and perform administrative tasks. With new employees regularly requiring access to the system, learning how to use it can be a slow task and I don't believe we are taking full advantage of its features. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

What do you like best?

I've worked with ACT and other CRM's for different employers over the last 20 years and I still like the format ACT offers. It's intuitive and not challenging to understand on a simple level. This is a new subscription with a new company but I did try some of the suggested CRM's and either the cost was high and/or the learning curve was high. I didn't know what to expect by the tech calling me for a walk through but essentially I just let him remote in and setup everything from desktop installation to syncing with online version. I realized by watching the tech how so many issues could develop if I attempted the process myself. I had been using just the cloud version because I was concerned about messing things up if I installed the desktop version, so this was one of my questions to the tech. Then they handled it. He spent almost two hours making sure everything ran properly. The tech was pleasant and patient with me when I had to take a call in between his work. So over all, I had a very good experience. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Since I use only the CRM features I haven't found much. The online version sometimes requires a refresh to get the ALL contacts list to load and sometimes there is lag in the up front load to start. But not significant to delay work. Most likely its the connection to the internet I have than the cloud version. I did realize I had to whitelist the online Version to get the task alerts to pop up. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

I think starting with ACT would be a good first move. Then if you decide you need more fire power then look at the more expensive custom options. Since ACT has been around for so long and so widely used, most CRMs have the ability to convert any ACT database into their own. For most companies I will assume that you most likely will not move away from ACT once you start working with it, but that would be just my opinion after working with a dozen or so different CRMs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

The biggest problem for me is keeping track of the hundreds of contacts and what I discussed with them. ACT does a great job of displaying the history for me to quickly remember when I'm talking with a contact or before I call them. The ACT format saves me a lot more time and gives me less headaches. What do you like best?

I've been using ACT since 1996. I like its easy customability, ie. I can add fields easily and I can change my template quickly whenever I need to start recording a new attribute for our database. The new email integration is great. Finally, I can quickly determine who is opening my emails and clicking on any hyperlinks I provide in my eblasts. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

I wish that our ACT! could integrate with our Quickbooks Online. I had this integration several years ago when I was a single user and it was great. I miss being able to quickly determine how much a customer had bought from us and what their payment practices were. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Make sure that senior management is truly, absolutely behind the implementation of ACT! Also, ensure, if you can, that the sales team is truly, absolutely committed to using a CRM solution. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

As I grow ever older (i'm 63), my memory gets ever worse. ACT! ensures that all important followups are done in a professional and timely manner. Also, if ever a customer claims someone that I don't think is accurate, I can look at my ACT notes and quickly determine if I really offered them the extra discount or warranty extension that they think I gave them. What do you like best?

When I come into the office each morning, ACT tells me who to contact, when to contact and what to say. ACT is literally my assistant in box and I don't pay this assistant any wage or benefits. The main features I use are the Groups (I have 130 Groups and 30 subgroups), the Activity Series for drips to my clients, the seamless link to Microsoft Outlook for all my email, the letter and email templates, the Documents tab to store files, customized tabs to fit my mortgage business and the ACT Scheduler for automatic backups. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

ACT is so complex, sometimes it is overwhelming. I have been using ACT for 18 years and I'll bet I only use 40% of the program. I currently use ACT eMarketing. In an effort to upgrade, I took a webinar with Andy Wood on the new ACT Marketing Automation and it seemed very complicated for small users such as myself. ACT Marketing Automation seems to be geared toward larger higher volume blast email users. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

ACT allows me to stay in touch with my clients on a regular basis even if the call back is scheduled far into the future. I use ACT for all of my meetings, To Dos and Calls. I like the fact one can prioritized these activities with color codes such as red (high priority), blue (medium priority) and black for no priority. I am able to print labels and envelopes seamlessly by simply altering the stock templates that come with ACT. I like the new subscription format allowing me to contact support at any time without having to purchase support packages as we did in the past. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

The customisation and ease of use of this application are incredible for someone unfamiliar with databases and CRM packages. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Unfortunately, this flexibility comes at the cost of some weird quirks due to the .Net Framework front end. Adding new contacts to a company takes nine mouse clicks. Nine!. So much of the interface is counter intuitive, needlessly cumbersome and cannot be changed. Without a complete rewrite of code it won't be changing anytime soon. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Easy to use and powerful editing tools but has a quirky interface due to the way it's built. Worth a look. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

With all that being said, if you can handle the idiosyncratic quirks of the program it can be very powerful. I've used it to build a marketing database that is quick and easy to use. I'd highly recommend it if you need something powerful, flexible, yet easy to use without needing to learn Access or SQL. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
