**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jim S. | IT Headhunter, Staffing and Recruiting, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 06, 2017

**What do you like best about Act!?**

simple to use, layout customizable, quick repose time, pricing good

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

fields not user customizable, would be nice to be able to add fields. for example, in closing a scheduled call, email reply would be a helpful reason

**Recommendations to others considering Act!:**

Suitable for a small business with few users but may be restrictive in a larger company. Not tailored for any one type of business so user has to be creative in adapting it.. However, price is very good.

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

This still has some ugly and old looking UI.

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Contact management.

**Official Response from Gary Woodhouse:**

> Thanks for taking the time to review Act!
We're currently testing a new more modern looking UI to be included as part of our next major update to the software. Let us know what you think when it's available later this year!

  ### 7. Good solid programme although basic

**What do you like best about Act!?**

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

The fact that it's not very customisable - bespoke features are not really an option

**Recommendations to others considering Act!:**

Check it links with sage Ok

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Better control of our customers

  ### 8. The Emarketing isn't ready for prime time. Be prepared to call the support line many times.

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Roger A. | president, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 05, 2016

**What do you like best about Act!?**

I'm a small business owner and have been using ACT for at least 20 years. I know it very well but don't require much so it works well for me.
I also like how the emarketing integrates easily with the data base.

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

Have just started to use it for emarketing and it has been a struggle. It is very poor and needs lots of work. It does integrate nicely with ACT however, but getting a template designed is difficult. There is absolute no help on the template editing page. I've had to call for support at least 10 times for very simple things. They do have video's but they are more marketing video's rather than training ones. This could easily be fixed with some simple how to video's. Now that I have struggled through this learning phase I am comfortable but how many hours were wasted??

Also, the reports section is very slow. The terminology is not explained. The reports don't tell you which campaign it's about. Again, I had to call support several times.

Now this survey has little buttons that you can press if you want that function defined. Not available in the emarketing.

I will say the support staff is very nice and helpful but I had to waste time with them. .

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Now that I'm through the very steep learning curve I feel that I can make emarketing campaigns on my own, Just maybe it will increase business.

  ### 9. The buggiest program I have ever used

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** John I. | Technical Services Specialist, Information Technology and Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 20, 2016

**What do you like best about Act!?**

It's ability to create merged customer information into email templates. Of course this is only possible if you open both Outlook and ACT! as an Administrator.

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

When connecting to a database on an internal network with a desktop it forces you to install a local SQL instance that you don't need. The add-in makes Outlook run slow and stops working about twice a month. I have another customer that can't send GTM invites through the meeting request. There is another person that has various calendar issues every week - items missing, items rolling over when they're not supposed to, fonts getting changed on their own.

**Recommendations to others considering Act!:**

Avoid at all cost !!
Get a Rolladex!!

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The sales team uses it in conjunction with QuoteWerks to send quotes. It integrates with social media in an acceptable way.

  ### 10. A Nightmare on Wheels

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 14, 2017

**What do you like best about Act!?**

I like nothing. It used to be good around 2000. It was the best of its kind in fact.

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

They "update" the system once a month. When they do that it throws everything out of Whack. It takes 2-3 hours to fix with Indian tech support out of Chennai every month. Sometimes it takes 2-3 hours just to get someone on the phone. It's not cheap either. $420 per year. I give this company an F.

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I help companies get more clients through Internet marketing

  ### 11. ACT Works But I Am Not A Fan

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Patrick M. | Manager of Technical Services, Information Technology and Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 02, 2016

**What do you like best about Act!?**

ACT gives you a lot of the features of a good CRM, such as contact lists, company listings/linkings, integration with Outlook, email word processor, email templates, To Do Lists, Calendars, book appointments on behalf of other users, see other user's calendars, create groups, task lists, reports, dashboards, contact history, and allows integrations and pulling of data from many other software packages available on the market. For example, we use QuoteWerks for our quoting process and it nicely integrates with ACT to be able to pull contact information into a quote to quickly populate a client's name, address, email address, phone number, etc.

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

I have never been a big fan of ACT because I have always had problems with it. Many times I have issues where it crashes, or freezes, or the calendar integration with Outlook does not work correctly. We have even had problems in the past with it deleting items from people's calendars when trying to sync up! The bottom line is that I, at least personally, have always had problems with it. To me it has always been problematic and I have never liked using it. Unfortunately it is the CRM our Sales team uses and therefore I am forced to use it in order to align with the sales team and see their calendars, prospects, notes, and so on. Particularly the calendar sync with Outlook has also always been problematic for both me and other users.

**Recommendations to others considering Act!:**

Make sure to read a lot of people's reviews and get a good feel for what features you need and what features are problematic for other users.

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As a CRM we use ACT to store all of our leads, prospects, clients, and it basically is the main storage system of all of our client contact data. I use it mainly to look up contact information for my clients and allows sales members to see my schedule and as well to see theirs.

  ### 12. If it's all you can afford...

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ricky A. | Software Engineer, Information Technology and Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 17, 2016

**What do you like best about Act!?**

As a software engineer who's worked in the field of IT for over 12 years I can say that this software is, without a doubt, the least user-friendly application I've ever encountered. It took myself and another highly trained, Microsoft / Cisco certified IT professional 14+ hours to upgrade to next version of ACT for Desktop (on 10 user PCs) and update it with it's latest service pack. The upgrade process for ACT requires you to remove the previous version. Fine. However, the ACT uninstaller doesn't remove everything it should (registry keys and app-data folders abound). If the Protexis security service doesn't give you headaches over activating your copy of ACT you'll most likely run into a missing or corrupt COM error, and god forbid you intend to use this to sync with Outlook because Every time you change your password in ACT you will have to also change the password inside of the plugin's preferences and then re-sync the two applications. User's don't like being bothered, and ACT has a bad habit of getting in the way.

Negativity aside, you will have your own unique experiences with ACT. You may have 0 issues with it, or you might not be able to get it to run without IT support. Best of luck to you.

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

As an IT professional who is also a software engineer and works with the .NET framework I can get around ACT's blaring issues.... The rest of the folks I work with however, can't. Every year when we upgrade to the new version of ACT it's a circus. I figure with all the pain and suffering we've gone through the IT costs (not including ACT's licenses) might just make the case for us to move to Salesforce. Salesforce isn't cheap, but it works.

**Recommendations to others considering Act!:**

If you're going to use ACT then look to the future. ACT is moving most of their offerings to the cloud via a web-based version of their desktop application. At some point that might be an ok option if you want to use ACT. Although GG dev team, maybe code the interface/ whatever javascript or postback code you're using to be cross-browser compatible. It's nice when you get the latest version of Act for Web, and using FireFox you encounter a message telling you "The browser you are using is not supported". It's 2016... not compatible with FireFox. ok.

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is a large rolodex of contact information, and weak relationship manager. It allows us to store contact info with custom fields and link contacts to a company object.

  ### 13. ACT CRM Premium

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Professional Training & Coaching | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 06, 2017

**What do you like best about Act!?**

Scheduling, Emailing, Follow Up, Appointments, Customer Details, Customizing Fields specifically for my clients, and Notes. I love ACT in every aspect of my business solutions.

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

Sometimes it loses the synchronization with Office 365. There online support, especially Isaac is very helpful and I always get results.

**Recommendations to others considering Act!:**

ACT is consistently upgrading and adding features. I love this CRM

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Follow Up, Notes, Birthdays, Appointments, and Goal Setting

  ### 14. Very Reliable and Stable CRM Platform That Offers Great Functionality

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michael M. | National Business Development Consultant, Chemicals, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 02, 2016

**What do you like best about Act!?**

Opportunity management throughout the sales process and customizability of fields and views. Database management is also good and the ACT! platform has improved dramatically over the 20+ years I have used it (through multiple companies who owned ACT!).

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

Speed of switching between customers and tasks is slow compared to SalesForce. The Mobile app. does not always update correctly and loses data you have entered. The tasks and functionality are not always parallel.

**Recommendations to others considering Act!:**

Compare with other CRM vendors. ACT has a superior software-based platform but that means sync'ing, changes are not in real-time but you also don't have to have an Internet connection to work within it.

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Opportunity management in the sales process and database management. ACT! has allowed me to more efficiently manage and stay on top of business opportunities.

  ### 15. Somewhat flexible but quite frustrating

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nathan P. | Assistant to Office Manager, Financial Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 06, 2016

**What do you like best about Act!?**

The software is relatively easy to navigate, but falls flat in modification.

the user interface is mostly simple to navigate. Top navigation works fine for switching between contacts and companies - those of which propagate each other pretty consistently.

The organization of information is clearly stated on the left toolbar.

Adjusting search queries as well, has enough options for cross value comparisons.

Opportunity function and dashboard reporting seems to have potential but i have yet to try them out.

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

I don't have much experience with CRM software but ACT! feels dated - we are currently using version 17 - from what I can tell, version 18 (cloud based) looks much sleeker and user friendly.

Biggest complaint is the inability to calculate fields from other calculated fields - this much needed feature greatly reduces the benefits of the CRM.

Supposedly there are "tons" of add-ons to beef up the software, but most are paid and bundled with unneeded features

**Recommendations to others considering Act!:**

I would not recommend this product - if you do have to use it - take the time figuring out their import / export functions

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The software is current;y used for sales team prospecting management.

We are a small team, but must handle thousands of prospects.

The system has been set up and works as intended mostly. We are still working on full implementations within the full workflow.

I do not wish to continue using this product - but will make do

  ### 16. Out of Date

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Wholesale | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 03, 2017

**What do you like best about Act!?**

The trickle down system from Companies to Contacts

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

The interface. With the world of smartphones- ACT feels like I am looking at a computer program from 2000

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is nice to print "activities reports" instead of sending my director word typed summaries.

**Official Response from Gary Woodhouse:**

> Thanks for sharing your feedback.

A refresh of our desktop application interface is currently on the roadmap. We recently experimented with an updated web user interface for Act!, and we'll be taking lessons we learned from this and applying them to the desktop interface in our future development efforts.

Did you know Act! also has a native smartphone app, where you can see your contact information in a more mobile, and on-the-go inspired interface?

  ### 17. Excellent Program

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lauren W. | Geriatric Care Manager Certified, Consumer Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 28, 2017

**What do you like best about Act!?**

I can keep track of my clients and their important documents

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

I cannot connect to quickbooks for invoicing

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ridding of paper files

  ### 18. GRID for Social Media

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Deepak B. | Director, Quality Engineering, Computer Software, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 20, 2016

**What do you like best about Act!?**

It is so easy to integrate emarketing with backend databases. Import and export solutions are very close to what we need in business to work between 2 different tools.

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

Calendar integration with outlook is not always smooth. Sometimes the screens stuck while loading. Upgrade to newer version is also little painful. Upgrade is not always smooth and it requires technical support. Same goes with windows OS upgrades like moving from Win7 to Windows 10, we saw lot of compatibility issues.

**Recommendations to others considering Act!:**

Good solution to start with before spending huge amounts on other products.

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Able to manage our contacts for events. It has solved us managing large invitee and contacts to some extent.

  ### 19. Been using Act for many years, love it.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Medical Practice | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 22, 2016

**What do you like best about Act!?**

I like the layout and how easy it is to use. Makes my job much easier.

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

The system can run a little slow sometimes and you have to rebuild the data base with maintenance tools that helps sometimes but not all times.

**Recommendations to others considering Act!:**

The company has changed hands more than once and falls short of support, however it is a good program.

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I manage an online members only community so I'm able to track and manage all of my members.

  ### 20. It works and is private

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Medical Devices | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 06, 2017

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

Have to take my computer with me to use it on the road
I have Deja office for the road connects to Act

**Recommendations to others considering Act!:**

It's easier to work with than other software

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I get the info on the cell thur Deja office yes I do and it works wess

  ### 21. Great for small business!

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 22, 2016

**What do you like best about Act!?**

The service works really well from the moment you get it. No real need to fidget with templates or customizations. While you still have the ability to make those changes as you wish. Very easy to use since it utilizes the Excel format. Very good for inputting basic information.

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

The price point is a little less than desired. Unfortunately the cloud version is much more expensive than the regular version which lives on the servers. Not too many integrations across all systems.

**Recommendations to others considering Act!:**

Look at all options first. Determine what you need. Take your time to review products for ease of use and integration with email and automation.

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Issues with integration between our software and the CRM solution. We are looking for something that works good across all of our systems seamlessly without too much hassle.

  ### 22. Tracking customers and prospects.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Ranching | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 14, 2016

**What do you like best about Act!?**

Easy to look up customers and contacts for quick reference.

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

Reporting is too complex and could be easier to gather information.

**Recommendations to others considering Act!:**

Easy to use system at a cost effective price.

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Tracking interactions with customer and contacts and sharing information among coworkers.

  ### 23. I have used ACT for the past 20 years for CRM

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 22, 2016

**What do you like best about Act!?**

Helps me easily manage my customers and prospects. I also use it to integrate with QuoteWerks. which I use for creating all of my quote. This is very handy.

Does everything I need it to do.

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

There is nothing that I don't really dislike about it, however I would like to see a more user friendly mobile app.

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Tracking prospects for sales team, and managing existing customers. This has helped me and my team more organized and efficient.

  ### 24. Major bugs and poor customer support

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rafe E. | SVP, Real Estate, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 02, 2016

**What do you like best about Act!?**

I have been a dedicated user since 1999. It is better than outlook for tracking events and customers. I do not use any of the social media features btw.

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

ACT Pro simply does not work with Windows 10. Activities do not roll. Outlook email does not integrate at all. Customer support offered a knowledge base article on the first problem with two fixes. One was for beginners and did not work. The other referenced menus and options that do not exist. Customer support did take over my pc remotely and caused my activities to roll - once. They have ignored my followup requests ever since.

**Recommendations to others considering Act!:**

Too buggy to consider right now. It just does not work with Windows 10.

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is a good program when it works - tracking many customers, clients, meetings calls and projects is easy using ACT. Their integration with outlook and google doesn't work well. I use companion link, a third party program, to sync with my android calendar.

  ### 25. Solid Database Management

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sean J. | Business Development Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 31, 2016

**What do you like best about Act!?**

Easy to search/sort contacts by many different key words (company, first name, state) Instantly allows me to see how much interaction I've had with any particular contact. Customizable dashboard gives me the info I want up front

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

The interface could use an update, it looks a bit old and isn't as intuitive as newer platforms.

**Recommendations to others considering Act!:**

There's very little Act! cannot do with regard to organizing and maintaining business contacts.

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Keeping track of contacts and interactions (emails/calls/visits) is never easier than when I can log them in my Act! files.

  ### 26. I'm an assistant and I've been using this for 5 years. I use it all day every day.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Courtney B. | Client Services Manager, Financial Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 29, 2016

**What do you like best about Act!?**

I like the mail merge - it's extremely easy to use unlike Microsoft Word.

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

adding relatives is not very easy. also i'd like to put both husband and wife's birthday in there.

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are solving the mail merge problem by using ACT instead of word. We will be utilizing the opportunities feature more as well.

  ### 27. Good, but slow and old system CRM.

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Venture Capital & Private Equity | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 14, 2017

**What do you like best about Act!?**

I'm able to track all emails and contacts history.

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

Very slow system. Mobile app is not very good.

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's great for mail merges and sending groups of mails out.

  ### 28. Act! Sucks!!!!

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about Act!?**

I have been with Act! for nearly 15 years and I have finally had it!!!! Who doesn't have an interface for Apple these days? Who doesn't have an App to access their site? I have tried to integrate to Google since their upgrade three weeks ago, on three different computers and still no success. The wait times on hold are ludicrous this whole company is a joke! I am in silicon valley and know how technology works, no one cares about being up to-date or current at Act! They don't care about the customer experience with hours of wait times or care about doing what they say they are going to do!!! It's been over a week since they said they would call me back on a problem I had that they said is an issue on their end!!!

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

I have never written a review before but.....Where do I begin with what I don't like???? I have the Cloud Premium, what a joke, the word "premium" is, there is nothing premium about their technical support HOLD TIMES in access of TWO HOURS!!! I am self employed and waiting on hold or paying my assistant to do so, cost a fortune in down time!!! The program in archaic and my engineer husband has been telling me to dump Act for over a decade but did I listen? NOOOOO and I am paying dearly for not taking his advise!!

**What do you like best about Act!?**

The ability to house documents within the database specific to contacts.

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

The inability to update the database from a mobile device.

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Documenting contacts and custom information specific to the contact. Having the ability to store documents scanned in (like background check reports) specific to the contact.

**What do you like best about Act!?**

The Group options, mail merge and how easy it is to add fields to a contact.

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

That my Outlook and Act don't seem to communicate very well.

**Recommendations to others considering Act!:**

This is a great database, user friendly.

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Communication with other co-workers is really easy thanks to the note field.

  ### 31. Approach with caution - think seriously about committing to ACT since Swiftpage purchased it.

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about Act!?**

I have years of invested use and customization. So, I like that I am familiar with how to customize it to fit my business.

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

The support is difficult to get, long waits, and not always correct.

**Recommendations to others considering Act!:**

Don't do it unless you hear that their Support went from a one to a 10. The person in charge of their Support is either incompetent or does not care. They seem to care more about 1) Getting monthly commitments for fees and 2) Releasing new versions probably to help insure renewals and monthly commitments from users.

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Manages sales activity for remote sales agents.

  ### 32. Unfortunate

**What do you like best about Act!?**

It used to be a perfect program. Alas, no more.

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

I've used ACT religiously for the last 10 years. It used to be a wonderful product. I recently switched to the cloud based version. My first question to the sales person at Swiftpage was, "How fast is it?" She assured me it was much faster than the trial software they let you try. After I paid for a year's subscription and downloaded the software it turned out it was much worse. Unbelievably, Swiftpage would not refund my money and switch me to a desktop based version. When I say slow, I don't me a little slow, I mean unworkably slow. Put it this way, I'm currently trying to look up one of my clients in the database. I've written this review in that time and it still hasn't located the record. Avoid at all cost!!!

**Recommendations to others considering Act!:**

I don't have one. I hope someone at ACT gets the message and improves the product.

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I've run my business with this software for more than a decade. I am now switching.

  ### 34. Act! is the Easiest Contact Management/Small Business CRM Available

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Greg F. | Programming Director, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 15, 2015

**What do you like best about Act!?**

Everything I need to do, there are two or three ways of doing it. Instead of having to search through menus or toolbars to find what I'm looking for, I can quickly use a keyboard shortcut or right-click menu to get me there. SO much more convenient than SalesForce or SugarCRM where everything is move your mouse back to the menu, hover over something, click something that pops up, hover over something else, etc. I can get stuff done FAST in Act!

We have also added some automation to our Act! through some third-party addons which has done wonders for making sure we enter information in the same way each time so that we can report on it and find it later. Act! has a ton of addons which are definitely worth checking out.

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

When I first got Act!, some of my older machines were really slow using it. Upgrading older workstations solved that problem, though. The web interface is also a mixed bag - it looks almost exactly like the Windows version. That makes learning the web interface easy, but some stuff could be changed to be more web browser friendly.

**Recommendations to others considering Act!:**

I've seen failed software implementations before. If you want something that your team will actually use, you have to be able to show them the benefit of using it, and make it easy to do so. Act! is the easiest Contact Management or CRM system that I've ever used. The benefit is being able to share information with your team, and being able to look up information from previous interactions with the customer. Don't waste money on an expensive, hard-to-use system that your team doesn't want - get Act!, save some money, and end up with a happy team at the end of the project.

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We were just using Outlook to keep track of everything we could. When it came time to share information about a customer, it basically meant we were forwarding email chains to each other. Act! solves all that by allowing us to just go to the record in the database and see the same thing as anyone else on the team. We can also keep track of phone calls in a much better way instead of just using the Notes in Outlook. We still use Outlook, but just for email.

  ### 35. One of the oldest still one of the best

**What do you like best about Act!?**

Still user-friendly despite the age of 20+ very useful. Build-in e-mailmarketing

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

change of owners in the years. The less attention of Sage at the end.

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Latest version by Swiftpage is too complicated, too many version and difficult to solve problems if there are.

  ### 36. Still a great product after 28 years!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mark H. | Owner, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**What do you like best about Act!?**

I love that the program is so easy to use. I can train a new staff member on how to use it very quickly. We've used Act! to run every part of our business since 2004.

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

I would like to see a native MAC OSX version. But, my employees can still use Act! on a MAC OSX machine via Act! for Web or via Parallels.

**Recommendations to others considering Act!:**

Make sure everyone is using it the same way. Create a set of common practices and business rules that everyone knows and understands. This will help you get accurate information out of your reports when you run them.

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Track sales pipeline. Follow up and follow through with support after point of sale. We also use Act! E-marketing to send out our monthly newsletter.

  ### 37. The only way to keep my day in order!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jason M. | Business Solutions Consultant, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 15, 2015

**What do you like best about Act!?**

I use Act! on a daily basis. We use this in our office to coordinate our schedule. Track our sales funnel and cycle. We can keep all of the interactions with our prospects and customers in one place so that anybody can access them at any time. This makes working with our team much more streamlined and definitely helps with making sure nothing gets missed.

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

Needs some better compatibility with for the web client. (Chrome, FireFox) and needs to fix the DPI issues for higher resolution screens.

**Recommendations to others considering Act!:**

Very Easy to use and allows for offline clients. No requirement to be on the cloud

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Sales tracking and keeping track of my upcoming events. It also helps me when trying to recall what i discussed with a prospect in the past if it has been a while.

  ### 38. Frustrating!!

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 11, 2016

**What do you like best about Act!?**

I like the price and that about it at this point in time.

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

The customer support is the worst. I called to cancel today after less than a week buying a subscription.

**Recommendations to others considering Act!:**

There support sucks so unless you are a tech savy person, try another program.

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have not been able to solve anything yet. I cant get support on the phone long to get outlook integrated with Act so that I can set up my calendar.
The service sucks!!

  ### 39. 20 years successfully using ACT!

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Electrical/Electronic Manufacturing | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 10, 2015

**What do you like best about Act!?**

ACT!'s web-based database version is extremely efficient for inside and outside sales personnel to maintain and keep aware of the status of contact records. Its integration with Outlook makes it really easy to communicate with customers.
The Opportunities module is a valuable tool for sales and applications engineers to track active projects.
The Reports and Google maps features are very handy for inside and outside sales.
The Dashboard of ACT!'s newest version can be customized for a particular user’s needs.

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

I would suggest that the ACT!' template creation method be streamlined, and be enabled to generate a canned email response to a particular type of interaction with a contact. In order to do this at the present time. I have a canned email text that is tailored to a contact’s data, and then cut/paste it into a blank Outlook email (auto-generated from the contact’s email address field).

Another feature that would be useful is custom report generation – perhaps not from the ground-up, but to have the ability to edit a pre-generated report format to fit a user’s specific needs.
All in all it’s a very good program, but would be a great program with the above additions.

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I utilize ACT! to maintain current customer information for the inside and outside members of our sales team.
This allows an efficient utilization of their time to focus on customers with active projects.

  ### 40. Great product for the organizer in you!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 03, 2015

**What do you like best about Act!?**

I like the fact that all records and appointments are available under each corresponding contact as well as each company. There are many different features that work cohesively in this environment that are just what we need.

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

The only thing I don't like is that with this version I am unable to delete duplicate records without being the "main person". When I make a mistake in adding something incorrectly, I'd like the option to rectify that.

**Recommendations to others considering Act!:**

This is a very useful tool when multiple users utilize it in the same form/fashion. It can keep you abreast all happenings and ensure deadlines are not overlooked.

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This has helped keep our sales team informed of who is handling what accounts. There is no confusion regarding what accounts are being actively pursued and what accounts need attention. The reporting feature is also very useful allowing as many different values as you'd like to pull.

  ### 41. Still number one

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Pieter R. | Director S.I.U., Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 28, 2015

**What do you like best about Act!?**

I have used ACT since version 3.0 and every update brings better and more functionality in the product. It is the tool to do business in the 21st century. Much more user friendly than other products on the market and it integrates with all the other great tools available. Especially the integration with social networks is great, so you follow your contacts and explore new opportunities.

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

There is really nothing I dislike about this product, probably because I have been using it for a long time it is like an old friend, hard to find any faults.

**Recommendations to others considering Act!:**

ACT is a very easy product to use, with a lot of versatility and ability to modify screen layout to your liking. It will keep you in the game, with the integration with outlook and also social media. I highly recommend it.

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

My use of the product is for contracting purpose, i.e. similar to sales, as you have to make cold calls, follow up and stay on top of your activities. Love this product, it does exactly what I need it to do. The task pop-ups are my favorite, I never forget to follow up with contacts. ALso the automatic integration with outlook is wonderful, plus the dynamic groups is perfect for my needs.

  ### 42. Life is so much easier!!!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Medical Devices | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 11, 2015

**What do you like best about Act!?**

I like the versatility of the program and that I can have access to my customers and review the notes all in the same folder

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

I wish the program was a little faster, but I think it's my computer and not the program itself

**Recommendations to others considering Act!:**

Definetly consider it, it's the best program

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I've solved appointments that need to be addressed and that in itself has helped my business grow.

  ### 43. Great Program

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about Act!?**

The versatility and ease of use. This program has helped me manage my contacts and appointments and allowed me to follow throught with necessary obligations I've promised my customers.

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

I love it! I tried out the program just as a trial and I use it all the time.

**Recommendations to others considering Act!:**

Highly recommend

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm able to keep accurate notes and follow up with prospects and customers as needed.

  ### 44. ACT! for Life

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Heather Marie G. | HR & Operations, Non-Profit Organization Management, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 25, 2015

**What do you like best about Act!?**

It was easy to import large lists of contacts into a database. I loved that you can customize your view when searching through the database.

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

Swiftpage e-marketing function performed inconsistently at my former place of business. Sometimes I would wait hours for a test e-mail to go through to myself.

**Recommendations to others considering Act!:**

My former employer had purchased the ACT! product prior to my employment, and they did not keep an active contract ACT!. Swiftpage e-marketing was an additional program, and we paid for it monthly. At the time (2013,) this caused issues when we needed tech support. Swiftpage could assist with some issues, but others required an up-to-date user account with ACT!. It was very confusing to figure out the root of a problem because of this.

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Time-sensitive marketing. Easy to search and update contacts. Easy to track clicks.

  ### 45. SwiftPage ACT still delivers value in the age of the Cloud

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chad M. S. | Founder, Chief Software Adviser, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 24, 2014

**What do you like best about Act!?**

Integrated Email Marketing: For a small business, you can have a strong method to handle email marketing in an integrated non-disparate solution. Tailoring: There are no limits on what data you can store in the system and the ease of making changes can be done by a nontechnical person. User Interface: The tool is easy to get around in both the desktop (fat client) and (webclient) which both are quite similar in functionality. Integration: The tool integrates with Word, Excel, and Outlook nicely. And, it integrates with Google Mail and Contacts. There is a nice selection of third party tools available for various needs like AddressGrabber which allows for easy input of contacts from various sources such as email signatures, webpages, etc. Templates: I have enjoyed being able to store tons of various templates for letters which we use over and over for various communications like sales proposals, quotes, and nudging clients along the funnel and sales process.
Automation: SwiftPage ACT! has a small business automation engine which allows for reminders and workflow to be administered by the system. It's not as sophisticated as some enterprise workflow automation solutions but for the price it's an awesome addition.
Maintenance: Very rarely have a problem which needs to be dealt with and costs to upgrade are minimal at best. We hosted the system internally for the web client and implemented it ourselves initially but had upgrades subsequently done by a local partner simply due to time/cost scenario. In other words, less to have someone else do it.

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

Social Integration: The tool has a basic feed for LinkedIn information to feed into the system. The infusion of more Social Selling "signals" and "feeds" would be very helpful to instill more social selling into the framework.
Account vs. Contact: If you are a company which works to B to B rather than B to C there is a still a bit of cumbersome way to handle "joining" accounts and contacts through links. It is better with 16.1 release but still it's a "contact" centric solution which is great for some business relationships like realtors, insurance, & financial services etc.

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The tool was used for leads and prospects. And, one of the compelling reasons for using the system was the integration with SwiftPage email marketing solution which provided Lead Call Lists which allowed our email marketing, surveys, and database to be integrated. With the integration, we could easily see who was a "hot" lead based on times they opened an email campaign and then assign out for proper handling by a telemarketer.

  ### 46. ACT!: A sufficient database with room for imporvement.

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Electrical/Electronic Manufacturing | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 26, 2015

**What do you like best about Act!?**

I most like the ability to create fields which are easily searched.

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

I most dislike that it easily crashes which causes me to loose my look-up unless I have saved it as a group or query.

**Recommendations to others considering Act!:**

I recommend that others join ACT! groups and use the various training videos available. I also recommend that other users be aware of which version of Internet Explorer is supported by the current version of ACT.

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The problem I am solving is searching through contacts which have not been recently contacted by our company. The benefit of using ACT! is that I can save and sort through my searches.

  ### 47. Easy to use CRM software with many useful features

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

Limited possibilities for report customization
Poor dashboard formatting
No clear and convenient way of reviewing and updating contact history

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Maintain customer database
Keep connected with customers and prospects
Manage opportunities

  ### 48. Just ACTing!

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Human Resources | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 24, 2014

**What do you like best about Act!?**

My former business partner was already using ACT! and she felt it was effective enough and didn't want to make a change. So, I dove in head first. It does the basics, you can manage your contacts, notes, and communication. I did find it intuitive and easy to learn. Some more advanced features was relatively easy to figure out.

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

I love my mobile device and at the time, you couldn't do anything while mobile. I kind of remember a lot of upgrades too, that got irritating. It didn't work well with Outlook, well, it kind of worked. The bottom line, it had the basics but you had to buy additional modules to for everything and it just didn't feel like a solid and cohesive product. There are a ton of better options.

**Recommendations to others considering Act!:**

It's the CRM that could've been but never ever lived up to it's expectations. With all the upgrades and new versions, they had a ton of opportunities to get it right but it was never robust enough.

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It was my CRM, it held all the data on my business contacts, notes, leads, customers, etc.

  ### 49. ACT! CRM Management

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brittany D. | Member of Governor Youngkin's Commission on Human Trafficking Prevention and Survivor Support, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 21, 2014

**What do you like best about Act!?**

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

Because it is designed for small businesses or individuals, you will eventually surpass its capabilities.

**Recommendations to others considering Act!:**

Ideal for small businesses, but if you keep expanding, you might surpass the capabilities of this product.

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Managing contacts to give us a 360-degree view of our interactions with our clients. It is a great CRM for small businesses.

  ### 50. Use it daily

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Hardware | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 14, 2014

**What do you like best about Act!?**

Ease of entering notes and navigating through the interface

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

Integration with Outlook isn't easy. Doesn't have the ability to toggle between two contacts.

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Keeping contacts organized with reliable notes. Easy to create a history of interactions
