## Act! Reviews
  ### 1. Act!

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Anne D. | Inside Sales Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 04, 2025

**What do you like best about Act!?**

I am liking using the cloud version. The Marketing Automation works much better in the cloud then the desk top.

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

It is hard to use. I have spent hours with tech support on the phone trying to get our ACT! updated to the newest version. I am still not done. I'm not sure why you have to have a remote data base so that the desk top version speaks to the cloud.

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I "think" it is helping us with our marketing emails better reaching our customer base. It is much faster than doing it through Outlook. However, the dashboard reports don't make sense to me as I know I am sending out more than it is showing.

**Official Response from Leslie Reynolds:**

> Hi Anne, Thanks for sharing your feedback. We’re sorry you’re experiencing a problem like this as we devote a lot of resources to Customer Success because we know it’s critical to your success and ours! We hope you’ll give our Support team another try at https://www.act.com/resources/contact/ or call 866-873-2006. We look forward to hearing from you.

  ### 2. :atest versions remove critical functionality and degrade performance

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Media Production | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 15, 2022

**What do you like best about Act!?**

Access from anywhere and custolizeable layouts

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

Web page refresh with each update takes too long, integration with Outlook no longer works for calendar, "upgrades" remove critical functionality and customer support is unsympathetic

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Keeping track of all my contacts, not just those at my current company

**Official Response from Leslie Reynolds:**

> Thank you for taking the time to share that Act! is making your workday a little easier but we are sorry to hear that you are having some issues with update refreshes and your Outlook integration. Please call our Support team at 866-873-2006 as we’d like to help you however we can. We appreciate you sharing your feedback.

  ### 3. ACT! Review

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** MIKE C. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 19, 2023

**What do you like best about Act!?**

It is a standard sql database that makes tables and fields easy to create and change. ACT also has add-on apps that allow for improved reporting and dashboard creation. Because of the dashboard creation app, our organization was able to move from a paper environment to a paperless one.

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

Often, the database seems to become corrupt and the server (separate from regular server) needs to be restarted. Both are rep and ACT support has been unable to resolve the issue. I will add that the marketing piece was expensive and did not work for us.

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As mentioned previously, the 3rd party apps have provided the tools needed to create dashboards across the organization and enabled us to make the transition from a paper environment to a paperless one.

**Official Response from Leslie Reynolds:**

> We are happy to hear, Mike, that Act! has helped your business go paperless, but are sorry to hear you've had some database corruption issues and that Act! Marketing Automation was not helpful for your business. If you'd like to give Act! Marketing Automation another try, please check out these resources or let us know if you'd like to meet with your advisor for a 1-1 walk-through and additional assistance by calling 866-873-2006.

  ### 4. Lacks intuitiveness

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Accounting | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 19, 2023

**What do you like best about Act!?**

It's rather easy to customize most things. I like that I can add categories on the fly.

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

The customer service and tech support is not easy to work with at all - to put it mildly. Running reports is not intuitive. The program needs to be more user friendly.

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Keeps a list of my clients with room to include detailed notes. I would have liked to have the option to customize some of the headings. We also use it to create a to-do list.

**Official Response from Leslie Reynolds:**

> Thank you for your review and for letting us know that Act!'s customizability is helpful to your business. We'd love to hear about any feature requests that you might have, perhaps around headings, and hope you'll take a moment to add them here: https://actlink.info/40XVmWQ. And, we are sorry to hear you did not have a good support experience. We know our support team is essential to your success and hope you'll give them another try at https://www.act.com/resources/contact/ or call 866-873-2006 if you continue to have report generation issues. I am also sending along a link to our online resources that you can check out at your convenience.

  ### 5. Not Ready for Prime Time

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Frank B. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 19, 2023

**What do you like best about Act!?**

Like the account detail. Can keep track of many details.

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

Can't really get act to works universally on Laptop/Desk/top/ Phone. There is always something not working.

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Keep all the cleint date in one spot.

**Official Response from Leslie Reynolds:**

> Frank, we’re sorry to hear that you’re not having a great experience right now. We hope you'll call our Support team at 866-873-2006 or find a helpful resource here: https://www.act.com/resources/contact/ - we’d like to help you however we can.

  ### 6. ACT is good for an affordable CRM but ease of use is not the best

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** january l. | business development, Financial Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 04, 2022

**What do you like best about Act!?**

I can add companies, groups and contacts, and the marketing software is decent. The program is not easy to use- as some of the features are not self-explanatory so expect to have to hire a consultant or have an IT guy you can refer to for situations when you have no clue how to use a certain feature.

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

We work in finance and if we do another loan with a customer they have to be entered in as a second entry instead of having them on the same file- this makes it difficult to differentiate between a duplicate entry and an actual file. Also, there is no way to remove duplicate entries so you have to go in and manually delete each one or pay for an additional program to handle this- when you add that charge to the cost of ACT, and the cost of having a consultant- the main selling point of ACT which is the cost has now gone down quite a bit- which is why I have given it 6 out of ten. The cost is still better than the top-notch CRM like salesforce and Pipedrive but sometimes cheaper just isn't better- especially with the lack of features and ability to connect it to other popular programs like zoom info which you would have with the better CRM software.

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Keeping track of our prospects, deals and customers in at least some kind of order- we have been using ACT for years which is the only reason we have stayed with it- well that and the cost differential compared to Salesforce and PipeDrive. However, if I were to compare ACT to either of those the difference is immense I would give ACT a 2 and SalesForce and PipeDrive a 10.

**Official Response from Leslie Reynolds:**

> Very sorry to hear you’re having trouble. We want to help as best we can. Please visit https://www.act.com/resources/contact/ or give us a call 866-873-2006 to see how we can provide some assistance. We look forward to speaking with you.

  ### 7. Customer Support...

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Steve S. | Owner/Photographer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 15, 2022

**What do you like best about Act!?**

I like link between database and calendar and the way that they work together.

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

There is a big language barrier - would like U.S. based customer support. Would also be nice to have ACT in Mac version.

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Keeping an efficient client database as well as day to day calendar.

**Official Response from Leslie Reynolds:**

> Thanks, Steve for taking the time to bring this to our attention. We’re always looking to make Act! more accessible to professionals the world over. We will discuss your review with our product and support teams.

  ### 8. We use ACT in a basic form, as a CRM without the email marketing features.

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Market Research | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 21, 2022

**What do you like best about Act!?**

It functions as a repository of customer information. It is faster in the cloud than some others we have tried.

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

email integration with outlook does not seem to work well at all, and this causes extra work if we want client communication stored.

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Helps keep us on top of prospects who need attention over time. Helps keep sales reps more focused, when they use it.

**Official Response from Leslie Reynolds:**

> We’re sorry to hear that you've had issues with the Outlook integration. We're here to help. Please call our Support team at 866-873-2006 or via the form found here: https://www.act.com/resources/contact/. We value our customers and their feedback. Thank you for taking the time to let us know how you use Act!.

  ### 9. Left Behind

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Investment Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 21, 2022

**What do you like best about Act!?**

ACT! was easy to input and sort customers. I liked how you could customize the database.

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

The price. There are other CRM platforms cheaper and even free (Hubspot) that are better.

**Recommendations to others considering Act!:**

I would recommend using Hubspot. It was backed by Salesforce and is free to use as long as you don't send out more than 2,000 marketing emails a month.

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's good for all your employees to store all their customers in one database, which saves time whenever someone else is looking for a contact they are not always interacting with.

**Official Response from Leslie Reynolds:**

> Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate hearing from our customers and hope that you'll check out all of our plans, starting at $12/user/mo.

  ### 10. Lots of Data -- A Little Overwhelming

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Scott M. | Client Success Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 18, 2021

**What do you like best about Act!?**

I really like the amount of data that you can put into the database. You can put in a lot of fields. That is great when you are trying to capture a lot of custom fields.

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

There is no easy way to export the data. I wish the menus were more self-explaining on what does what.

**Recommendations to others considering Act!:**

I think this platform is great. I would just be aware that it will take some time to adjust and customize the platform to your needs. You will also need to set aside quite a bit of time for training and understanding all the features. For sure take notes on what does what. It really helped me!

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have been using it to organize exhibitors and groups for consumer shows. For someone who has multiple types of accounts, I appreciate the flexibility and custom options with this platform.

  ### 11. Not a fan of OS-based CRM systems

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Schuyler B. | Enterprise Account Executive, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 28, 2021

**What do you like best about Act!?**

I like that it is very user-friendly to find helpful information. I also love how you can create groups of contacts with easy-to-find and read labels.

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

That it is not web-based, so constant Syncing is a necessity, and it seems to be a CRM from the '80s.

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are solely using Act for database management, prospect tracking, contact history, and sales data. I have realized that it is helpful in all of those areas.

  ### 12. ACT! (stepchild of CRMs?)

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Accounting | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 28, 2021

**What do you like best about Act!?**

Forms and document merge work well. Good UI and the ability to manage form views is good

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

The networked/syncing function is slow. We tried to use the caller ID/record popup feature, but the network sync to get data had such a lag in pulling the info that you were typically done with your call before the record came up. Seems to be sold off all the time, too, which seems to leave some program functionality lagging.

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Contact management and document merge for mass mailing.

**Official Response from Leslie Reynolds:**

> Thank you for your updated review. We hope you'll contact our Support team at 866-873-2006 to address your syncing issues.

  ### 13. Great

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rebecca M. | Awareness Ambassador , Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 16, 2021

**What do you like best about Act!?**

The ease of layout of the software and the basic language used

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

The font is too small and too many colours are used

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I’ve solved staff issues and international market relationship

  ### 14. Decent CRM

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 20, 2021

**What do you like best about Act!?**

Straightforward CRM that allows you to do standard issue things like track contacts, companies, activity history (phone calls and emails). Can generate customer orders from it. Manage sales opportunities.

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

The reporting isn't very intuitive and there are no dashboard views.

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Customer and account management. The benefit for us is a single source of record.

  ### 15. Useful in small batches but doesn't hold a candle to most complex CRMs

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 25, 2021

**What do you like best about Act!?**

I like that while the design is simplistic and a bit basic, the actual product itself works well and does the job it set out to do.

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

The interface looks like a 1980's computer program. I feel like a coder

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It feels a bit dated and doesnt give us everything we need in terms of analytics

  ### 16. ACT Review

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 29, 2021

**What do you like best about Act!?**

I thought that the system was pretty simle to use. I used it at a company I used to work for to manage our CRM database.

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

When I used it, I do not think there were very many modern CRM features.

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I used it at a company I used to work for to manage our CRM database.

  ### 17. Gets the Job Done, A Little Outdated

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jairo A. | Broker's Assistant, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 22, 2019

**What do you like best about Act!?**

The software definitely has a lot of uses when it comes to organizing a client base. Everything from grouping, to attaching documents to your contacts, to setting appointments. It can even be integrated with a few other software platforms such as Mitel.

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

ACT!'s interface is fairly outdated. It's reminiscent of 90's era databases. Not unusable, and once you get a hang of it you can start zooming around it pretty easily. But the interface can become confusing and isn't very intuitive at times. There is, without a doubt, a learning curve.

**Recommendations to others considering Act!:**

If you have a lot of files and need something to help you search through them quickly and easily, ACT! is a decent choice. It has a variety of functions on top of organizing contacts and clients. Task managing, scheduling, reports, grouping, and a variety of other things.
However, the UI is a little un-intuitive and visibly outdated.
Additionally, support for ACT! is a little slow. It often requires a phone call and lengthy back and forth.
Overall, the software does its job well, so long as the user is able to overcome the learning curve required to efficiently utilize it.

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Organizing a large amount of contacts, documents, and files into an easily searchable database with multiple methods of querying information. We've managed to take what would have been a records room worth of files and placed it into a database we can easily search through.

  ### 18. Powerful CRM with a range of features

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ashley M. | Marketing Co-ordinator, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 15, 2019

**What do you like best about Act!?**

Act! allows us to manage all of our customer data and is a useful tool for reviewing historic notes relating to our customers. With several departments within our business, all can access predetermined areas with specific read and write privileges.

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

Act! is quite difficult to manage and perform administrative tasks. With new employees regularly requiring access to the system, learning how to use it can be a slow task and I don't believe we are taking full advantage of its features.

**Recommendations to others considering Act!:**

I believe Act! have now released a cloud-based version. This would be much better and will be the direction we plan to head in so that we have access on mobile phones, tablets, etc.

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Act! allows us to communicate internally and review feedback left for each of our customers.

  ### 19. ACT from a long time user perspective

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ross T. | Loan Officer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 17, 2019

**What do you like best about Act!?**

I like ACT's format and how it looks and reads on the screen. It is easy to get my key information and input notes

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

I am new to the web-based product and it seems to be slow

**Recommendations to others considering Act!:**

faster loading and loading of client information

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

My biggest benefit is the ability to quickly review my notes when a client calls back to always be up to date.

  ### 20. Act is nice, the the company is not

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Telecommunications | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 17, 2019

**What do you like best about Act!?**

Act is a mandatory program for my area of work. The issue I have with act is just a few years ago I bought the program on a cd rom for everyone in my company. Just four years later the cd rom version no longer works and they now require a monthly charge for the program. The cd rom version no longer works and to me thats a scam. But I have to use act so I now pay over priced for a program I already own.

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

That you no longer support CD rom versions of the program.

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Act is a must have for the number of contacts we need to keep track of with our business. It would not be possible with out act.

  ### 21. Not a bad CRM but better ones out there

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Magen S. | Client Services Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 06, 2019

**What do you like best about Act!?**

I liked how customize-able Act! is and that it's fairly easy to do. It's not so advanced that you need loads of training to figure it out. It's easy to add to client information and make changes when necessary

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

I found it troublesome to search for contacts; they just never seemed to populate. Also, creating templates with our letterhead was a pain. If I was doing a mass mailing the template images would move down a little with each contact. There may have been ways around these issues but I just didn't have the time to research it. Also, because it was a software on our desktop, it seemed to slow things down with it's large file size.

**Recommendations to others considering Act!:**

I wasn't employed yet when Act! was first implemented so it was a little difficult being thrown into not knowing how it functions and having to figure it out on my own. I would recommend, if possible, to watch training videos.

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It was our sole CRM. It was an quick and easy solution at the time.

  ### 22. Inexpensive, but half baked

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Market Research | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 15, 2019

**What do you like best about Act!?**

Act has a simple easy to understand interface, and offers a one time purchase option, good for small businesses and startups.

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

The platform isn't overly stable. We lose connections to Outlook for email campaigns. Have also seen issues where contact edits don't stick. Last, the platform doesn't offer email receipts or campaign reporting.

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Organizing and maintaining large contact lists. It's easier than excel spreadsheets, and is inexpensive/cost effective.

  ### 23. Glorified Address Book

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Construction | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 06, 2019

**What do you like best about Act!?**

I enjoy having contact information and templates in once spot. Its helpful for sure, but I've worked with other software that does more. I would recommend Procore over ACT!

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

It seems to crash a lot, and I don't find it a critical software.

**Recommendations to others considering Act!:**

It's a good entry level software for construction companies. If you have more advanced needs, i would recommend something else.

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's nice having all the client information in one spot! I can just click on the client and write a proposal/submittal from there.

  ### 24. Works well but can be tempremental at times

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Thomas N. | IT Specialist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 09, 2019

**What do you like best about Act!?**

The dashboard metrics are really powerful and we can drill out the data we are looking for.

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

For instance when you send a mass e-mail bigger than a certain file size the process sends 6 emails and stops. No error message or warning is given. Calling tech support only recommended that I move to one of their paid mass mailing products.

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ACT is an invaluable part of our data collection and contact management.

  ### 25. Great for sales, not marketing or large organizations

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mike M. | Digital Growth, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 20, 2018

**What do you like best about Act!?**

Act is simple to use. It has some features, like bulk updating of contacts for almost any field, that I took for granted.

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

Act is great for individual salesmen or small sales teams. It is not the greatest for large organizations, as the reporting data and automation is lackluster, and permissions are not as robust as in other solutions.

**Recommendations to others considering Act!:**

Act finally seems to have gotten it together with their latest 2 releases, but they still have a long way to go to catch up to other players if they want to be a solutions for larger organizations. Frankly, I'm not sure they will get there unless they completely ditch .ASP framework.

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Act was adopted first by one salesmen in our company, but it quickly became property of the marketing department to implement an e-mail marketing strategy.

  ### 26. ACT - Great CRM Tool

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** francois g. | sales manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 13, 2018

**What do you like best about Act!?**

Act is a great Customer Relationship Management Tool where you can add all your active and prospect database. And you can look up easily any client profile you wish with all contact information and details you need. You can add some notes to each customer and then add some reminders or notes, very useful.

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

With Act software, you can't see payment details about each account and resolve past due invoices. It is hard to do customer orders resolutions with that. Also Act could be slow and you can just navigate from 1 to 1 account and can't treat multiple accounts at the same time.

**Recommendations to others considering Act!:**

I recommend Act is you want an easy and simple C.R.M software to ad d basic information like visits, last order, orders details and what items ordered per customers. For each client, you can add some details notes and details information. I don't recommend it if you need to do accounting or others purposes that basic CRM tasks and email and/or phone marketing or sales campaign.

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Act is very useful to add details information for each account, you can see the main contact, his job profile , email address and phone number. ### 27. Classic Program with a Long Standing Reputation

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brittany E. | Director of Marketing and Social Media, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 07, 2018

**What do you like best about Act!?**

Their service is reliable, the program is easy to use and very self explanatory. The fields and options are very customize-able. The page organization looks nice and neat and is presented well.

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

It doesn't seem like they are as popular as Salesforce now. I'm not sure why. Maybe Act offers less options, or perhaps it's the price, but their competitors must offer something better in some regard.

**Recommendations to others considering Act!:**

If you've used it in the past, check out what updated features they have now. Perhaps a lot has chnaged since you last used it.

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Organizing our database of client info, sending emails to them, creating lists, tracking processes, running reports, etc.

  ### 28. Review of Act Premium version 20

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Medical Devices | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 05, 2018

**What do you like best about Act!?**

Simple to track contacts, activities and companies. Bare bones...and that's what I like. Databases are small and easy to manage. Integration with outlook is fairly simple.

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

Microsoft updates wreck havoc on it. Business support hours are only on the weekdays. Support is largely overseas so sometimes translation is poor.

**Recommendations to others considering Act!:**

Be prepared for a slimmed down CRM version...not a lot of bells and whistles...but highly functional.

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Keeping track of contacts, pipeline, etc. Helps me keep track of about 11000 contacts generated over the past 10 years. I've used this software exclusively for 10 years and it has helped me build a successful business.

**Official Response from Jonathan Taylor:**

> Thanks for your feedback!

We're glad to hear you're making good use of the Outlook integration.

You mentioned having some problems with Microsoft updates in the past - in case you didn't know, in the latest release we've completely rewritten the Outlook integration to make it much more robust and help prevent issues caused by Microsoft changes!

We do also now offer support packages that include weekend technical support, due to popular request.

If you've got any further queries or need any help, just let us know!

Thanks again,

Jon,
Act! Social Media Team

  ### 29. When it works it's great

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 27, 2018

**What do you like best about Act!?**

Great tool to keep all your contacts in one place while easily keeping them up to date.

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

We regularly run into different problems.
Act fails to sync with Outlook
Act fails to load preference files

**Recommendations to others considering Act!:**

Definitely not for a large number of users. Better suited to a small department with no more than 10 users. If you are looking at the web portion of this application I'd give the trial version a try first. Low bandwidth from the workstations to the server hosting the database can severely impact performance.

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This CRM is excellent at keeping all your contacts in one place. Having the ability to view everything from the mobile app is a great feature that allows us to lookup contacts from any location.

  ### 30. 15 Year ACT! User

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tim K. | VP-Sales, Airlines/Aviation, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 20, 2016

**What do you like best about Act!?**

Simple to use yet robust organization, search, and scheduling capabilities.

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

The biggest shortcoming is no Google integration. Difficult to sync calendar and records with phone and other outside apps. Primitive word processing integration and clunky email integration.

**Recommendations to others considering Act!:**

Check carefully for compatibility and integration with other apps you use (i.e. email, calendar)..

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Maintaining communication with clients and developing new client relationships.

  ### 31. Can't reap all features of the software

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Christopher G. | Manager, Global Accounts, Hospitality, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 08, 2018

**What do you like best about Act!?**

Option to utilize as a cloud-based service, mobile-compatible.

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

I really dislike that I am not able to link Act! to outlook on my iMac.

**Recommendations to others considering Act!:**

Find an alternative CRM is you plan on using a Mac computer. That isn't to say there aren't more ways of making it compatible, but I'm fairly certain from what I've read online there is no way to ever utilize all of the functionality intended.

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It facilitates that ease of communication with clients/prospects. No balls are being dropped anymore.

  ### 32. Work in Progress

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dave H. | Realtor, Real Estate, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 12, 2017

**What do you like best about Act!?**

The layout of the cloud version and desktop version...Especially ver 19 and 20. I can't wait until I can incorporate Alexa into it.

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

Hard to strategize how to incorporate it in my business, what forms, reports and best practices for my businesses. I have two businesses. Real Estate and Advertising and I currently have to use two CRMs. I'd love to just use ACT!.

**Recommendations to others considering Act!:**

Don't have any yet.

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Active and proactive communication and connections. Convergence opportunity of CRM and accounting. I have used the product for almost a year and have started to build an affinity for it. I think it would be able to do a lot of what I want it to do but I just don't know how to get it there.

**Official Response from Jonathan Taylor:**

> Hi Dave,

We've made quite a few changes to Act! since your review, and I was wondering if there's anyway we can help you get the most out of Act!

If you're having any trouble, or would like any advice, please feel free to drop me an email at community@swiftpage.com - I'd love to help!

Thanks!

Jon,
Act! Social Media Team

  ### 33. Customizable CRM, UI not the best

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nirmohi D. | User Experience Consultant & Co-Founder, Higher Education, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 29, 2017

**What do you like best about Act!?**

The one-time fee, responsive support team, customizable CRM. Keeps a record of all communication with clients if linked to Outlook.

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

UI is not the best. Most of the functions are not intuitive. It does not work on OSX. I end up carrying two laptops around all the time, one for Act and my mac for everything else. I would not recommend this CRM to anyone just on the basis of the UI/UX.

**Recommendations to others considering Act!:**

If your users use OSX, please consider getting a different CRM. The user experience is not good at all, especially if you compare with more recent CRMs. One advantage of using Act would be the one time fee, instead of a monthly subscription billed per user.

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Right now we're using Act to save contacts, generate documents like quotations, sending out marketing emails, and also for tracking communication history with clients. We also store the physical equipment bought by our contacts. For tracking leads/opportunities - not useful, we use excel sheets instead.

**Official Response from Gary Woodhouse:**

> Hi Nirmohi,

Thanks for taking the time to post your feedback.
Did you know that Act! v20 includes an updated modern UI? Check it out after it launches later this month.
We have a number of customers that run Act! on a Mac using Parallels. Have you considered this option? It's also possible to access Act! Premium in a web browser which could give you another option for accessing Act! on your Mac.

  ### 34. Sales Account Manager

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 02, 2017

**What do you like best about Act!?**

I like the ease of adding customers, some of the reports available . I don't like the fact that you can have duplicate accounts without notice.

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

The service is terrible, it times out , act.com is FREQUENTLY not responding ...I mean EVERYDAY of WORK,
it is costing me customers and efficiency and I will be looking elsewhere for a cloud data base or go back to the Desktop version. period they have no customer service if you don't upgrade and pay more ...I pay $38.33 a month that is enough ....so may be moving on soon.

**Recommendations to others considering Act!:**

It is a data base that allows you to add as many customers as you want without raising your costs. They are always updating but no so much for small end users as major email marketing stuff. It freezes and has some funky things happen that from time to time is frustrating but isnt' all software frustrating from time to time? I think it is a fair value for being able to work from home on the laptop to work on a desktop with all notes kept and updated. That is what makes it invaluable to me as I travel some and work from home some and am at the office some. So for that application alone, it's a great product.

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I was trying to solve having used ZOHO that had limited records before you had to pay much more, and with Act! Cloud I can add as many customer accounts as I need. That's it.

  ### 35. Worked for the start of our company

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ashley G. | Marketing Coordinator, Sports, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 27, 2017

**What do you like best about Act!?**

We liked how easy it was to integrate when our company started using a CRM system.

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

It became very dated, very fast It also became difficult to make sure all data was up to date, and to go in and update information. We found that a lot of records became duplicated, and there was no notice of it.

**Recommendations to others considering Act!:**

Be sure that it has all of the capabilities you are looking for within a CRM system ... as your company grows, you have to be sure that ACT! can grow with you.

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We used this to build our initial CRM system. We were able to compile all customers and non customers in one place, where everyone within the company was able to access them.

  ### 36. Does a lot more than manage contacts

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Laura P. | Proposal Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 05, 2017

**What do you like best about Act!?**

easy look up. You can search by a variety of ways to find the record you are looking for

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

screen appearance. The layout seems a little outdated and could use a facelift

**Recommendations to others considering Act!:**

this is a little less user friendly than say Salesforce which appeals to the masses. You can get a lot out of ACT but much of your success will depend upon your consultant - be sure to talk with other clients.

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

we manage our contacts, export them to our email marketing software and manage our sales funnel. We are able to track future opportunities in ACT! and forecast more accurately.

**Official Response from Gary Woodhouse:**

> Hi Laura,

You'll be pleased to hear that the upcoming Act! v20 will include a refreshed, more modern user interface. If you are a subscription customer, you'll receive this update for no extra cost!

  ### 37. Time consuming

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 05, 2018

**What do you like best about Act!?**

There should be an easier more user friendly way to enter data. Many steps are repeatative

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

Entering data has repetitive steps Entering a new person takes too many steps

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I like having the data stored. Good for reports

  ### 38. Pretty basic but effective s/w

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Aviation & Aerospace | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 19, 2018

**What do you like best about Act!?**

Keyword search, ability to create lookup and then filter by territory/company or any of the other columns

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

No app or cloud based access. Really need to use it on my phone sometimes when on the road or in classified meetings where laptop is checked

**Recommendations to others considering Act!:**

I’m no expert on it but it serves its purpose in a simple and effective way. Just wish I could access it on my phone.

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Customer history, notes on past and working designs, reminders

  ### 39. Act! started off okay and then...

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 03, 2017

**What do you like best about Act!?**

I liked that there is a software and a remote version to work on, so you can get your work done where ever you are.

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

Act! crashed on us once and we had to completely start over with importing our information. This took a LONG time and we had issues after the crash as well. It finally got to the point where we just had to switch databases.

**Recommendations to others considering Act!:**

Make sure you back up your files just in case it crashes.

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We were keep track on clients, accounts, projects, etc in Act!

**Official Response from Gary Woodhouse:**

> Don't forget, you can set up automatic backups to keep your data safe without having to remember to take manual backups.

  ### 40. ACT! Database Ease of Use

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 03, 2017

**What do you like best about Act!?**

Ease of customization and access to database.
Addionally, Act! Is a great option for a low end budget

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

database frequently has error messages and does not work

**Recommendations to others considering Act!:**

Act is a great option if you have time to deal with customer service representatives very often. It is hard to figure out how to use it but once you have figured it out, it is definitely a great option.

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

client management

**Official Response from Gary Woodhouse:**

> Hi There.
Thanks for taking the time to review Act!
We know it's frustrating when issues occur, however our experienced technical support team are here for you should you need them. We offer support by phone, chat or email, and have many online resources like our Knowledgebase and Community forums for helping answer questions and learning best practices.

  ### 41. Act review

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Opeyemi G. | PRESIDENT, Insurance, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 10, 2017

**What do you like best about Act!?**

Nothing much as of now, it is too complicated and having much trouble.

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

Everything for now, customer support, technical support

**Recommendations to others considering Act!:**

It okay until you have a problem

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It suppose to help me, but its creating a problem for me instead. I spend too much time on the phone with people who don't know the root of the problem and are just trying generic solution and they are not working for me. I'm considering another CRM

  ### 42. Versatile

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Environmental Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 10, 2018

**What do you like best about Act!?**

You can customize the platform for your needs.

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

It needs to be simplified amd more user friendly for the basic or starting user.

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Able to track work done, customer contacts, and create quotes.

  ### 43. We like the program but have many issues trying to get it to sync with Outlook.

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Construction | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 08, 2017

**What do you like best about Act!?**

Ease of use in regards to CRM is a plus. Having it cloud based is also a plus.

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

After almost a year to trying, we still haven't been able to get the program to Sync with Outlook. Because of that, we have resorted to using the program strictly as a client database. Not what we had anticipated when we decided to use ACT Premium.

**Recommendations to others considering Act!:**

If you looking for this to Sync with Outlook, beware! It has been an ongoing issue.

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Not at the moment. If we could get the syncing to work, it would be a great benefit to the sales staff for keeping meetings and correspondence organized.

  ### 44. ACT Software review

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Demi B. | Marketing Communication Manager, Environmental Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 03, 2017

**What do you like best about Act!?**

The feasibility of keeping your contacts all in one place

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

It lacks in user-friendliness compared to Salesforce or other CRM software

**Recommendations to others considering Act!:**

N/A

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Slow to load, customer service

  ### 45. Good Tool for Staying Organized

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Renewables & Environment | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 24, 2017

**What do you like best about Act!?**

Act! is a great database for keeping track of prospects. Each time I speak with a prospect, I enter all of their information along with a quick note to recap our conversation. This comes in handy when they call a year down the road and I can easily refresh my memory.

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

The software that we have is rather outdated. There is also no lead generation. All of the information that is in the database comes from our company inputting it.

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I believe by using Act! it shows our prospects and customers that we care about them. It's nice for them to call in and not have to repeat their issues again.

  ### 46. ACT gets us by, we have a lot to learn

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sarah S. | Marketing Coordinator, Business Supplies and Equipment, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 26, 2016

**What do you like best about Act!?**

We like that it works with our email marketing service. We also like the groups and importing/exporting solution.

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

There is a lot to these databases as they are very customizable. I wish we had a free training session with our purchase so we could learn how to use it. There are not many resources (YouTube, ectt.) online. Also, we have used ACT for several years and it is not always ready when OS update or make changes. We often have problems when Windows changes their version or one of us gets a newer computer. To remedy this,

**Recommendations to others considering Act!:**

It is a comparably inexpensive for the basic version - yet, there are many add-ons I am not yet familiar with which you may be able to get at an all inclusive price with another software. For what we do, it fits our needs. We have a meeting scheduled so we can find out how we can better use it and customize the database to our business needs.

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use this as a contact management system. We actually have a training scheduled for our next sales meeting

  ### 47. Great for small business!

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 22, 2016

**What do you like best about Act!?**

The service works really well from the moment you get it. No real need to fidget with templates or customizations. While you still have the ability to make those changes as you wish. Very easy to use since it utilizes the Excel format. Very good for inputting basic information.

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

The price point is a little less than desired. Unfortunately the cloud version is much more expensive than the regular version which lives on the servers. Not too many integrations across all systems.

**Recommendations to others considering Act!:**

Look at all options first. Determine what you need. Take your time to review products for ease of use and integration with email and automation.

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Issues with integration between our software and the CRM solution. We are looking for something that works good across all of our systems seamlessly without too much hassle.

  ### 48. Good, but slow and old system CRM.

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Venture Capital & Private Equity | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 14, 2017

**What do you like best about Act!?**

I'm able to track all emails and contacts history.

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

Very slow system. Mobile app is not very good.

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's great for mail merges and sending groups of mails out.

  ### 49. Poor crm

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Heather W. | Digital Marketing Executive | Founder, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 09, 2016

**What do you like best about Act!?**

Calendar and multiple user access; client cards

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

no easily accessible email marketing solutions; scheduling activities is cumbersome

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

crm

  ### 50. ACT!: A sufficient database with room for imporvement.

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Electrical/Electronic Manufacturing | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 26, 2015

**What do you like best about Act!?**

I most like the ability to create fields which are easily searched.

**What do you dislike about Act!?**

I most dislike that it easily crashes which causes me to loose my look-up unless I have saved it as a group or query.

**Recommendations to others considering Act!:**

I recommend that others join ACT! groups and use the various training videos available. I also recommend that other users be aware of which version of Internet Explorer is supported by the current version of ACT.

**What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The problem I am solving is searching through contacts which have not been recently contacted by our company. The benefit of using ACT! is that I can save and sort through my searches.
